@gl797 What's so bad about the Happy Days theme? I really don't get why people are so against the 'Happy Days' theme. It's much more catchy than 'Rock Around the Clock', is unique to the show, and makes the titles more memorable.
I really liked this opening credit sequencet! And you definitely can't go wrong with "Rock around the Clock" as your theme song! The later "Happy Days" Theme was so slick and overproduced imho.
i felt its first season was more earnest, like american grafitti, but in later years, when they added the 'happy days' theme, and mork showed up etc etc the show just became silly.
i remember the dilemma in those days were what you were going to watch?
good times (cbs) or happy days(abc) at 8:00 on tuesday nights? It didn't take many weeks to figure out that happy days was the better show especially in the early days!
Even weirder. "Laverne & Shirley & Company" used a different font for their title card (similar to a font called Brush Script...find it at MyFonts) then the one they used for the network airing (which is the one familiar to us now).
"Happy Days Again" just used the same one as "Happy Days". Kinda wonder why they did THAT.
Chuck disappeared... so did the oldest daughter on the Cosby show. He started with 5 kids... then stuffed the oldest back up the vag. Also - Ralph Malf was a "cool Senior" in the first season.. and then his charator was changed to a dickhead clown. Now - that's great writing.
This was when the show went into syndication at the same time that new episodes were still being produced. They called it "Happy Days Again" to differentiate new episodes from old ones.
The first season is my favorite. :) And they should have kept this song as thier theme song!! :) Still the ''Happy Days'' theme song is cool as well. :)
The same thing happened with Jaimee Foxworth who played "Julie" on Family Matters. She once joked that "she went upstairs and never came down. maybe she's still up there."
Back in those days, if a show aired syndicated reruns while it was still in production, they had to change the title to avoid confusing viewers (Laverne & Shirley & Company, CHiPs Patrol, More Real People, etc.).
To WhatsAYak, They obviously didn't think the Fans of the shows were bright enough not to know they were Reruns....back during that time I knew they were in reruns....doesn't take a genius to know that. They just were insulting the fans by doing that.
Does anyone know the actor's name combing his hair behind Richie and Potsie? He was an extra forever on the show. Thx.

Actually on the Cosby Show, the oldest kid just appeared after the show was already on. It's a reverse sibling show.

I remember when "Laverne and Shirley" first went into syndication, it was labeled "Laverne & Shirley and Company".
Kinda weird how they did that.

Also, when it first came on the air, Laverne & Shirley, it had their last name.

I totally forgot about that -- good point !!

If you look at the 45 being put on the jukebox, you will notice that it says Happy Days.

Chuck went upstairs and never came back down. A TV character vanishing and never being mentioned again is known as "pulling a Chuck Cunningham".
