Is there any documentation that teachers are saying that the "lifestyle" is "dirty, it's filthy, it's wrong, it's an abomination"??? I am a middle school teacher, and I have NEVER heard another teacher say anything like this. I have, however, heard students say things like this. It is up to the teachers to create a safe environment for EVERYONE in middle school. How can a teacher urge students to respect everyone despite possible differences if he/she cannot even mention the differences.
@scottly80 My students often don't realize that they are being disrespectful and putting others down until someone mentions it. I had several students who thought that it was okay to make ethnic slurs about Jewish people because they didn't even know what being Jewish was. After I explained it to them, and we talked about the holocaust, they apologized for having done that. If I had ignored that, they would still be doing it in school. How is the situation for homosexuality any different?
All a straight guy has to do to think if this 'lifestyle' is a choice, just think how many times you get aroused about taking a dick up your butt, or sucking one...end of story.

@jeanniefavela I do feel that it is 100% right and there's nothing wrong with it. I try to live my life as a good person, of course with flaws, but that's something we all have.
Well i'm not a real believer of God but, if he is real, then I believe he would of created us flawed in order to see how we would react to does flaws, either continue down a path of evil or re-evaluate ourselves and become better people...
@YepImBisexual Well I am a real believer in God and He did not create us flawed He created us perfect and satan seduced eve to sin then she talked adam into it He created the human race perfect but gave us free will and we are not God so there is no way we could be perfect not even if we were created that way that's why God had to send His son to be a sacrifice for us and shed His perfect blood for those who believe in Him so that we can live with Him in heaven.
Mr. Campfield, what if a gay child has extremely homophobic parents; is the student not allowed to talk to a guidence counselor or a teacher (or a counselor or teacher not allowed to help them)?
@TheElectricDreamer93 As a social worker I want to know that too. If a kid is being bullied, how can I not talk to him about it? It goes against my code of ethics!
He hasn't seen any proof that homosexuality is not a learned behaviour? Oh well I guess I believe him. I mean, I'm sure he's all read up on the latest scientific literature. That's that mystery solved.
When did you choose to be heterosexual? BOOM BITCH! I learned what gays were since I was 8, I was told that it doesn't change anything about a person. It makes you a better person to be told that when you're little, it doesn't make you a bully. Gay means happy, I just assumed that was a good thing then.
It's proven already that homosexuality it's not learned by experience or by social influence. Simple example: Gay people are born in heterosexual families.
But one thing is proven already, hate is thought in families and via mass media.
Below is a list of doctors and the years of their studies proving being born gay is natural Baily and pillard 1991 Bearman & bruckner 2002 Hershberger 2001 dunne 2000 Dean Hamer 1993 Mustanski 2005 Brocklandt 2006 Blanchard & Klassen 2007 Swaab & Hofman 1990 Gorski 1992
Teaching that matrimony is a sacrament gives to a religious clergy the powers to judge the lawfulness of marriages and ecclesiastical censure for divorce.
The government of men's external actions by religion, pretending the change of nature in their consecrations cannot be esteemed a work extraordinary, it is no other than a conjuration or incantation, whereby they would have men to believe an alteration of nature that is contrary to the testimony of sight and of all the rest of the senses.
Well I am assuming he is Christian and he said that there is no proof of a gay gene but yet there is no proof of god either and he blindly follows that...just a thought
@H0Tappsnow of course hes christian...hes an idiot! you don't even need proof if you trust your instincts...ie if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...
@punkskater561 Well I'm not the one that goes around using bad fucking grammar that just gets annoying. I said it was just a thought and its my opinion. So don't fucking call me a retard, for one that's very disrespectful and also that just makes you look ignorant.
This guy is ridiculous. He can't even make a good argument to defend his position. Kudos to the guys for getting this man on, so his point can be challenged and (IMO) debunked.
if the teacher is advocating against homosexuality we already have rules in place to get their asses fired. on the other hand, if a child's parents are being fucking horrible, disgusting people about their queer child, the child has no place to turn to. what a dipshit.
Regarding response to question at 1:00........ Ummm, and there are a lot of people who claim that there is no proof of God, and yet I am willing to bet you still believe in Him. Probably because internally you "know what is right" for you......... Hmmmmm, I love it when bigots roll in their own hypocrisy.
I think parents (I assume the guest is a parent) like him want to pretend their kids don't know about this stuff with or without school. He is the same type of person who makes sure TV is censored.
I really like how you brought up the suicide rate at the end. But careful about red herrings, like the idea that it's taking away from the time that should be spent on the budget, because that same argument is used against us when we try to bring up bills introducing LGBT rights and marriage equality--and anyway, legislatures can multi-task and handle many issues, economic and non, at once.
We're long past the time someone can claim they haven't seen evidence.
To know there is a genetic component to homosexuality, you just have to look at the twins studies, where twins raised separately are more likely to both be gay than other siblings or unrelated people raised separately.
The key thing about twins is that they share almost identical DNA, so DNA is certainly an ingredient in a person's sexual orientation.
having a relationship with God in at a spiritual level filled the hole that was empty. I can't explain it in words but its like He fills every part of your body completely with LIFE. Life that spreads like lava from an erupting volcanic activity and it feels..feels.. so wonderful I wouldn't exchange it for my old-dead-self.
I Just discovered this show, I love it,and young people should watch it. don't go to the priest and get molested. (yes I made it rhyme like a "bauuusssss)
I'm astounded at the senator's ability to speak out of both sides of his mouth. This "save the children" response against the LGBT community is frankly absurd. By not talking about the issues and keeping it all in the closet (pun definitely intended) further perpetuates the idea that being a member of the LGBT community is wrong or weird. That of course is the main goal of the opposition.
This reminds me of a great quote by Joycelyn Elders, former Surgeon General of the US, and it although it was a response to the idea of abstinence, I think it applies.
"We have tried ignorance for a thousand years, it's time we use education."
This bills tenants can be likened to sweeping women's oppression under the rug in the 20's, or civil rights movement in the 50's or the opposition of the Vietnam war in the 70's. It's absurd!
I really liked the symbolism of cutting off his last syllable. :)
I think you should have continued your line of questioning on gay marriage though, when he said that "if they fit in the standard for what marriage is, yes". Clearly he meant that "if they're a man and a woman, yes".
@PanWolven Yeah I noticed that part too...he wasn't supporting gay marriage...he was against it...lol...and it was clear...it's clear he is a dumb ass....enough said...
@PanWolven I thought Pakman's "Gotcha, I think I follow," said it all - at least for me. I found it subtle and meaningful. I believe, like you, that Campfield's "standard for what marriage is," was definitely alluding to his belief that it's only for heterosexual relationships.
@kwb70652 Yeah, Pakman's response said it all for me too, but these things tend to need clarification for the not so informed majority. Besides, it never hurts to rub these tard's hypocrisy in their faces. :)
The people who say homosexuality is a choice really have to be half gay themselves. I could never, ever "choose" to become gay. It's a really peculiar argument.
@AsifIcarebear3 I like your comment...it makes a lot of sense. People actually think that a heterosexual could just randomly be attracted to the same sex one day...huh? How? If you weren't attracted to the same sex to begin with how can you RANDOMLY just change?
Heterosexuality is the default, rather than the "norm" (I do not believe in the concept of "normal").
Some are simply not the default. Homosexual behavior is encountered in the animal kingdom, so there must be some trigger for that (and completely kills the "unnatural" argument against LGBs).
However, flamboyance is annoying as hell.
And if there would be "unnatural" anything in this issue, it is transsexuals. You are born as you are, so changing one's physicality like that is against nature.
I agree with the first part of your final sentence, but the final part is a little condemning for my tastes. Transgenders and transsexuals, or at least the ones that I've talked to, are not comfortable in their own body. An example would be someone whose mindset as a woman is horrified to see a man stare back at them in the mirror. So their effort isn't to make everyone feel uncomfortable, but it's done in an effort to make them feel more comfortable, more natural if you will.
Well actually some research shows that it not only is a form of body dysmorphia, but may be a physiological disorder. When a male embryo develops, it develops just like a female would, and then goes though a stage of de-feminization, this is were the ovaries, uterus and vagina are altered to create the penis and testes. The idea is that this process doesn't finish in some way. Be it mental development doesn't begin for males or physical development doesn't begin for females.
A missed opportunity to ask the question - What if one student is calling another "gay" in an abusive way, how is that handled if the school is not allowed to address homosexuality?
I doubt much sexuality is brought up in K through 4th, but 5-8th grades are worldly, pubescent, and often mean. This is NOT a topic that should be avoided at that age. Also, HIV and AIDS should be addressed before 9th grade, and it's hard to really cover that topic without mentioning homosexuality.
@kwb70652 THAT'S NOT THE FUCKING POINT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. DID YOU EVEN WATCH THIS VIDEO? HE SAID IT SHOULDN'T BE MENTIONED WHEN IT IS IRRELEVANT TO THE SUBJECT. GET A LIFE AND STOP WINGING AND CRYING OVER NOTHING. YOU ARE YOUR OWN WORST ENEMY.
@jamboliboli Oh your right and I'm wrong , my bad...
NOT.
I think I would have to read the legislation to see how it reads, but I BELIEVE, especially in the 5-8 grade years that alternate life styles should be addressed in Health class. I remember being that age, & I knew the differences, & I knew where I stood, and LUCKILY I had a mother who was open minded and taught us to be as well. But not everyone has that. This issue of school teachers &counselors and restraining them is very important.
Is it good or the right thing to say these things? Absolutely NOT, however as Americans it is our right to do so because of free speech. By allowing the media to tell us what we should and should not say; we would be sacrificing our rights.
@getxyourxkillxon On the other hand, there are right and wrong things for teachers and school personnel to say and do. I still disagree with this legislation though; I think it shows a great lack of trust in teachers and school counselors, and a great lack of knowledge about pre-pubescent child psychology. His argument that it’s “less government control" is way off too.
@kwb70652 agreed. not just teachers either. its parents job's to teach their children ethics, morals, etc. But to legislate anything of the such is ludicrous and unconstitutional. In the end though, those children will grow up and have to make their own decisions on how they live their lives. And whether what they say is offensive or not, they should not be held accountable by law of any such. That being said, we as people can hold them accountable and tell them off or choose to ignore them.
@getxyourxkillxon Agreed, It is ludicrous and Stacey Campfield has distorted what this legislation could do. I think Dave did an excellent job with the interview. How could this NOT be seen as homo-phobia legislation? I wonder if Campfield researched the issue at all - through teachers, and the LGBT community. I doubt it.
@PhilipPorter Well. people only vote for the peoeple they believe share their views so I say that say sa lot about the majority of the voting population in that state.
David Pakman is really good at talking to stupid people and asking probing questions without sounding mad. I would lose my shit if I was in his place.
Dave should have driven the discussion to the practical effect of a teacher's violating the law; what enforcement machinery would be set in motion if a teacher brought up a gay issue. As it stands, he let the guy get away with presenting the bill as the absence of state action! A few creative hypothetical scenarios involving administrative procedures, fact-find inquiries, etc. would have exposed this waste of resources for what it is. Not Dave's best interview.
@macarion That's some great logic, if a person doesn't accept the gay lifestyle or gay marriage he is gay? So if I don't accept murder and killings, does that mean I am a murderer? You sound like a moron
I love the way David conducts the interviews with these morons. He doesn't shout but is tenacious and gives them plenty of rope to hang themselves. It is very entertaining. I just wish we could have seen this guy (who I suspect is another closet case) as he tried so hard, but failed, to answer the questions without revealing himself to be not only a homophobe but rather intellectually challenged as well. And thanks David for the factoid that Francis Bacon was gay! I should have guessed as much.
Lord!!!!! This bigoted idiot needs "proof" that homosexuality isn't a choice, but believes that the universe was created in 6 days.
Sometimes I wonder why I haven't completely flipped and started touring the South, going to the offices of these idiots and slapping the crap out of them.
David, once again, you've got nerves of steel to deal with these crazies.
You know... I'm sitting here wanting to click on it because I like this show... but I KNOW there's nothing any closet case gay bashing uber religious Republican fucktard could say that would do anything but seriously piss me off that they were using oxygen I could put to better use. Think I have to pass. He's an inbred redneck bigot, there is no other "justification" for this law and I don't want to hear his political double speak. Just let me know when he dies so I have something upbeat.

When did you choose to be heterosexual? BOOM BITCH! I learned what gays were since I was 8, I was told that it doesn't change anything about a person. It makes you a better person to be told that when you're little, it doesn't make you a bully. Gay means happy, I just assumed that was a good thing then.
wolfylover4ever 9 months ago
It's proven already that homosexuality it's not learned by experience or by social influence. Simple example: Gay people are born in heterosexual families.
But one thing is proven already, hate is thought in families and via mass media.

The evolution of mammals is only possible with heterosexuals.
The idea "thou shalt marry and be given in marriage" is corrupt and degenerate, which is an impossible immortality of a kind (i.e., eternal love).
SirWinstoneChurchill 9 months ago
Teaching that matrimony is a sacrament gives to a religious clergy the powers to judge the lawfulness of marriages and ecclesiastical censure for divorce.
The government of men's external actions by religion, pretending the change of nature in their consecrations cannot be esteemed a work extraordinary, it is no other than a conjuration or incantation, whereby they would have men to believe an alteration of nature that is contrary to the testimony of sight and of all the rest of the senses.

There is also no proof of a straight gene.
There is evidence of a marker in the male chromosome that has a 99% chance of triggering more than two sexualities.
The test has been duplicated, but has also not been disproven.

I made a mistake, I should have wrote the test had not been duplicated, but also not disproven.
They are markers on Xq28, the subtelomeric region of the male sex chromosome.
I added 12 other studies showing natural prenatal conection to the developement of homosexuality. The date and name can be googled.

Islander255 10 months ago
We're long past the time someone can claim they haven't seen evidence.
To know there is a genetic component to homosexuality, you just have to look at the twins studies, where twins raised separately are more likely to both be gay than other siblings or unrelated people raised separately.
The key thing about twins is that they share almost identical DNA, so DNA is certainly an ingredient in a person's sexual orientation.

That of course is the main goal of the opposition.
notreallyhere17 10 months ago 14
@notreallyhere17
Ha ha, not enough room!
It's absurd!
notreallyhere17 10 months ago 3
I really liked the symbolism of cutting off his last syllable. :)
I think you should have continued your line of questioning on gay marriage though, when he said that "if they fit in the standard for what marriage is, yes". Clearly he meant that "if they're a man and a woman, yes".
PanWolven 10 months ago 3
@PanWolven Yeah I noticed that part too...he wasn't supporting gay marriage...he was against it...lol...and it was clear...it's clear he is a dumb ass....enough said...
gaylolful 10 months ago 2
@PanWolven I thought Pakman's "Gotcha, I think I follow," said it all - at least for me. I found it subtle and meaningful. I believe, like you, that Campfield's "standard for what marriage is," was definitely alluding to his belief that it's only for heterosexual relationships.
kwb70652 10 months ago 2
@kwb70652 Yeah, Pakman's response said it all for me too, but these things tend to need clarification for the not so informed majority. Besides, it never hurts to rub these tard's hypocrisy in their faces. :)
PanWolven 10 months ago
The people who say homosexuality is a choice really have to be half gay themselves. I could never, ever "choose" to become gay. It's a really peculiar argument.
AsifIcarebear3 10 months ago 4
@AsifIcarebear3 I like your comment...it makes a lot of sense. People actually think that a heterosexual could just randomly be attracted to the same sex one day...huh? How? If you weren't attracted to the same sex to begin with how can you RANDOMLY just change?
gaylolful 10 months ago 2
Heterosexuality is the default, rather than the "norm" (I do not believe in the concept of "normal").
Some are simply not the default. Homosexual behavior is encountered in the animal kingdom, so there must be some trigger for that (and completely kills the "unnatural" argument against LGBs).
However, flamboyance is annoying as hell.
And if there would be "unnatural" anything in this issue, it is transsexuals. You are born as you are, so changing one's physicality like that is against nature.
Tounushi 10 months ago
@Tounushi you have no proof for that. AT ALL. That is merely a guess.

@jamboliboli Do you think being gay is a choice?
gaylolful 10 months ago
@Tounushi
So their effort isn't to make everyone feel uncomfortable, but it's done in an effort to make them feel more comfortable, more natural if you will.
notreallyhere17 10 months ago 3
@notreallyhere17
"More natural," through artificial means, especially when surgery is involved.
Transsexuality is a mental issue. A form of body dysmorphia.
Tounushi 10 months ago
@Tounushi
Be it mental development doesn't begin for males or physical development doesn't begin for females.
notreallyhere17 10 months ago
A missed opportunity to ask the question - What if one student is calling another "gay" in an abusive way, how is that handled if the school is not allowed to address homosexuality?
I doubt much sexuality is brought up in K through 4th, but 5-8th grades are worldly, pubescent, and often mean. This is NOT a topic that should be avoided at that age. Also, HIV and AIDS should be addressed before 9th grade, and it's hard to really cover that topic without mentioning homosexuality.
kwb70652 10 months ago 2

This issue of school teachers &counselors and restraining them is very important.
kwb70652 10 months ago
Faggot, gay, nigger, spic, inbred trailer trash, kike, wap, sand nigger, towel head, etc:
Is it good or the right thing to say these things? Absolutely NOT, however as Americans it is our right to do so because of free speech. By allowing the media to tell us what we should and should not say; we would be sacrificing our rights.
getxyourxkillxon 10 months ago
@getxyourxkillxon On the other hand, there are right and wrong things for teachers and school personnel to say and do. I still disagree with this legislation though; I think it shows a great lack of trust in teachers and school counselors, and a great lack of knowledge about pre-pubescent child psychology. His argument that it’s “less government control" is way off too.
kwb70652 10 months ago
@kwb70652 agreed. not just teachers either. its parents job's to teach their children ethics, morals, etc. But to legislate anything of the such is ludicrous and unconstitutional. In the end though, those children will grow up and have to make their own decisions on how they live their lives. And whether what they say is offensive or not, they should not be held accountable by law of any such. That being said, we as people can hold them accountable and tell them off or choose to ignore them.
getxyourxkillxon 10 months ago
@getxyourxkillxon Agreed, It is ludicrous and Stacey Campfield has distorted what this legislation could do. I think Dave did an excellent job with the interview. How could this NOT be seen as homo-phobia legislation? I wonder if Campfield researched the issue at all - through teachers, and the LGBT community. I doubt it.
