The cast are DEFINETELY singing off a backing track, and practically NEVER do on these shows. (You'll actually probably find it exactly matches the backing of the cast recording.)

When the presenter announced them, the backing track began and either (1.) She didn't hear some of the introduction (could be a problem in the shows sound dep...) or (2.) She was used to a longer introduction than the backing track held. Because it was a backing track - there was no orchestra to compensate for this.

There's a measure missing that I doubt they would have let slip through if it was a recording - and if it WAS recorded, they would have previewed the tape first to make sure it was correct. As an instrumentalist (flute and piano) I have plenty of support for others of my ilk. :P While I understand accidents happen, I'm still disappointed that it had to happen live on a national show.

She came in late because she's used to having a live band who repeat the first bar until she starts singing, but on this performance, as in all performances they do where there's not a band or orchestra to facilitate their needs, they used the backing track that they used for the cast recording, which only runs the first bar twice.
