just watching the video but not being able to see the crane and it being winter I would bet there is a good chance the crane was setup on frozen soft ground. It's nearly impossible to determine good hard ground in the winter and with a heavy lift like that when you find out something is wring it is way to late. I also noticed he picked the panel way up in the air to pin the braces. We stopped doing that a long time ago. Pull the braces back with a lull.
@TWIST3DxPSYCHO Inbox me your dads name.I know who was running it as I worked for the same crane company at the time.I've known the operator since we were in elementary school
You're welcome. I am with you there. Before my present job, I worked in Masonry and that was hard work. I appreciate those that work outside more now.
Excellent response cab6268! Lets see the people who are leaving rude comments on here try to drive just one of those pieces of heavy equipment!!! and as you said cab....they are hard working honest men and women... thank god no one was hurt in this accident!! Pretty sad when people get their thrills out of watching accidents!!
@Smirks45 well the way i see it warlockbass2010 directly insulted me along with every hard working Nova Scotian out there... sorry but that just don't sit well with me, maybe that person would like to go to this job site and tell the workers there what he thinks.... I'm glad some people still know common courtesy
Good point. The workers here are hard workers. The crane crash did not have anything to do with how hard the workers worked. Nova Scotia has some of the best workers in the world!
@warlockbass2010 I'm construction worker and I know sometimes you can't prevent these things so next time you feel like insulting honest, hard working men and women you had best come on down and say it to our faces and when you leave you'll be just a little bit uglier when we're done. But i do like how you say "work force" because it tells me and everyone else that that you don't work you probably sit in front of a computer all day and draw well-fare that the "work force" pays for you lazy slob
And they're being awfully secretive about what happened too. I live in Yarmouth where this happened and the local media haven't been able to get a word out of the construction company. Sort of makes you go "hmmmmm". You were lucky to catch that....have you contacted the media to see if they're interested?
Being an Ironworker and using cranes on a daily basis , this gives me realization of how quick something can drastically go wrong. So glad that no one was hurt. It could have been a tragedy.
lol i get to go to that school. :D

Its quit a coincidence that this person was just video taping it as a panel was being put up, when all of a sudden the crane gave out. Great video :)

Thanks. It was a shocker. I've been taking pics of the process and thought I would video it that day. The rest you can see.
