Here's a bit of what's happening: Kon and Hanataro encounter Rukia in the Seirei and while Kon knows her Hanataro says "Who was that person just now?"

They come upon Ichigo fighting Renji. Ichigo asks why Renji is fighting him. He also tells Kon to stay back. Renji's reply is too fast for me to catch, but Ichigo replies back with- "Why can't you remember Rukia?"

Kon: "Eh?!"

Ichigo: "Remember! Rukia's in danger!"

Kon: "Wait wait! What do you mean they can't remeber Rukia Nee chan?"

well considering how much trouble ichigo had fighting renji both times, it's not out of the question that he would use bankai, also kira's shikai was shown during that arc, and i think the whole thing with the three leuteniets was to speed things along cause they probably didn't want to spend like 4 more eps on those battles when in reality it probably would have been more difficult
