  • great shooting! i am goin to try the 175 SMK with 44g of varget out to 1000 yards.

  • bout to start reloading 308 this next week for my LT OBR Heavy. pretty stoked. Thanks for the vids. Only rifle ammo I have loaded so far is 223. I currently run Varget in my 223, so I am going to try loading 308 with Varget and probably 168 Hornady HPBT and Sierra MatchKings.

Eventually I want to be able to reach out to a 1000 yards since we have a range close by that has a nice set up for that; however, I am going to have to get more practiced at ready wind and mirage first.

  • @rugerp89ipsc use the 175 smk or the 178 amax for 1,000 yards shoots. varget is very nice to use. If you have some time try 208gr amax.

  • @joediesel187 I will try those. The barrel is 18" with a 1 in 11:25 twist with a surefire comp on it. I just got my SSHD 5x20 mounted and am going to sight it in tomorrow.

I have never shot past 500 yards, can you steer me to some website or readings so that I can get a better idea of what I need to do to be successful. I am an accurate shooter and I know the rifle is capable for sure. I'll get some videos of it up soon.

  • awesome shooting guys... damn! 208gr? FPS should be around 2510FPS??? that's like 36.25 MOA elevation and looking at the mirage, my calculation shows 7 MOA left and hold + and - up to 3 MOA. My long range shooting buddy is shooting a 175 SMK and he's only getting 2575 FPS MAX so with 208 that's gotta be no more than 2510 unless you're running it super hot.

  • @koolmike79 208gr amax are sweet. I get 2550fps with 42.5gr of varget and get 2620fps with 47.0gr RL-17 out of my savage 10ba 1:10 twist. Kicks like a 300 win mag. At 1000 yards at 2500ft, Its about 32moa with varget and 29.5moa.

  • @joediesel187

that is some awesome loads bro! have you tried the .338 for 1 mile shots? I've been working my DOPE up to 1 mile, but my scope elevation is struggling to get that far. The longest I've shot my SPF 6.5CM is 1,460 yards. I picked up a used scope with an internal 95MOA elevation and hopefully my Sav 6.5CM will reach out to 1 mile on my next week shoot. If you guys happen to stop by Vegas don't forget to bring your rifles, you guys are always welcome to shoot at our back yard :D

  • @koolmike79 thanks for the invite. I use my buddy .338 dta scout and only hit a target at 1200 yards. I hope in a few weeks try something around 1500-1800 yards. I'm going to get a .338 110bas soon, maybe around new years.

  • nice! what gun do you use?

  • @monkeyking114 savage 10ba in .308win and savage 12fv in .223

  • you whats the recipe?

  • @miltnxc123 do i have your email?

  • amazing shooting.i envy that you can drive in the desert and just bang away.i have to drive 2 hours at least to go to coalinga rifle club to shoot over 500 yards.there is some barren desert in highway 152 but not sure if ok to shoot there.gilroy doesnt even allow centerfire rifles be used for hunting there.dont want to get in trouble with the law with a firearm involved...

  • @triggersafe thanks man. for me its a 75 min drive to going shooting long range. you may have to check with the law's about shooting in that area.

  • @joediesel187 What gun did you use?

  • Bro, that is some seriously great shooting! I saw your comments with Triggertime, let's see that 1200 yard vid. Pretty soon your gonna have to go to that Barret .416 or ol ma deuce, your gonna get bored at around 1K yards with how good that your doing. Take care, Tell Amy that my Wife and I say hey.

  • @1AbominAble1 Whats happen rich. YES 1200 yards is up next. coming soon. 416 would be nice but i think the .338 lapua will work for now. I just got done polishing my bolt body for the savage. Ill email you later with some some pic of the bolt too. My wife said hi. Not bad for a rookie for long range shooting and reloading.later.

  • Good shooting in that wind. That's a long shot for calm winds.

  • @aaadream thanks man.

  • What twist was your barrel? 208s come out sideways of my 1:12

  • @DallasfuckingTT My barrel is a 1:10 twist. The heaviest I can go is 220gr.

  • great vid bro

  • @FABAIN50CAL thanks

  • Great shooting Joe! 1000 yards is a long piece for that 308. Looks like you got your dope dialed in. 1000 yards is hard to come by in my parts, but the hunt is on:).

  • @Triggertime71 1,000 yards is far for a .308 win. maybe something at 1200 yards.....

  • @joediesel187 yeah, lets see it:D!

  • Great shooting my friend

  • @DEDMNKY thanks

  • Nice shooting

  • Great job!

  • @MrM2hb thanks

  • @MrM2hb thanks

  • Great channel were is that your shooting at?

  • @guns4funca southern Cali!!! Barstow.

  • Nice shooting Joe! I wish I had 1000 yards to shoot at!! maybe next weekend... we'll see!

  • @standbackitsgonnablo I hope so. I dont want to be the only savage 10bas on you tube to hit a 1,000 yards.

  • im in love w/ those 208s you're loading... i could defo hear the wind blowin, do u remember the conditions on that day? if so, plz share.. you've become a precision machine behind that savage!! fucking excellent vid sir... 5*

  • @FTW20ten the 208gr are the shit for a .308win case. It cut though the wind. its was about 78deg wind east to west about 10-12 mph and hangover the day before :)

  • @joediesel187 Thanks for the info Diesel!! Yeah bro, it was pretty impressive the way you had those 208grs slappin that 1000yd+ target like rick james on a bitch... Now you just need to put up warning signs in a 1200yrd perimeter all around your neighborhood to let em know you have em covered.lol.. i'll say it again, great vid!! xtra respect for the work you're putting in behind the scenes too...

  • @FTW20ten thanks man. its people like you that makes me do more video on shooting and reloading. If this makes you happy than I'm doing my job. oh believe me no one is coming near my home in a 1,000 yards radius. take care bro.

  • @joediesel187 I wish I had all neighbors like you, we'd have the lowest crime rate ever on our street.lol.. Thank you sir, you're info is very helpful and useful, and your vids are tits, so you are definitely doing your job...carry on!! Cheers brother...

  • Great shooting! Those 208's look awesome!

  • @MahaloMoFo the 208's work great.thanks for the comment

  • Awesome shooting as always man. Those A Max bullets grow on me more and more each day. I've started shooting the 140s in my 6.5-284 and I shoot the 123s in my 6.5 Grendel quite a bit too.

  • @MrSurgicalPrecision the amax are great bullets. Any words on smk?

  • @joediesel187 I generally prefer the SMKs or Lapua Scenars. The A max isn't as sensitive to seating depth though from what I've experienced. I'm getting ready to check out some lathe turned solids from GS Customs for a couple of my rifles.

  • That's beautiful rolling hills. You can see the riser's so clearly. Where are you? Texas or someplace like that? Fantastic shooting.. thanks for sharing and posting these videos.

  • @taeim43 I wish I was in Texas, I'm in California.

  • Awesome shooting man!
