Fabulous! Great rendition. I remember it well - Back when it was actually in the charts (or at least getting airplay) there was a group of students from the local art college who busked in Liverpool town centre doing this - right down to the speaking trumpet, tuba, lead hosepipe and monkey suits. Called themselves The Picasso Sisters (all blokes naturally) BTW Do you mind if I nick your version?
I'm not sure whether or not Monty Python used it, but Neil Innes of The Bonzos wrote it, and Innes was very closesly associated the the Bonzo bunch.
He even played three minor parts in the Holy Grail, and what else? Can't remember now. I really like this song no matter how ridiculously goofy it sounds LOL. It's GOOD satire.
Hi Spetsop..I really enjoyed finding then remembering this song.. I think it was the first singles I ever bought!! set the tone for my life really... lol
I think I should post the first version.. a total mess!! lol yes Tedettie has taken to reading again as I mentioned in a reply further down the page.. at the moment she's reading Eileen Caddy's book 'Opening doors within' .. the up side is she's not practicing her banjo..
Yeh! Great to take a break from working and find this smile-making old Bonzo Dog song. They knew how to write 'em....etc. Great lyrics....'intelligent and clean' eh? Just how I like my men these days! The guitar sounds giggly. frisky and frolicsome. Smiles and ten bright stars Mike. The day just got even better.
oh yes she's become an avid book reader recently.. she wanted to be a librarian at one time.. it was hard to get work in Alaska when she first started out in life... and of course her travels around the world and her time in Peru meant that books were hard to come by so she's now playing catch up.. she hasn't picked up the banjo in weeks and there are no signs of her posting any more songs at the moment.. .. so that's a plus.....
That's really good. I can understand your fun during the playing, this song is fun pur. I remember this, I think it was 1970, when the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band started tis song, really great and 5*
