I have a brand new Mirra and it does the same thing. This is the whole reason I got an expensive char, for it to be SOLID. This stupid piece of crap is driving me bananas.
It doesn't help that there is virtually zero real information about quality office chairs that isn't produced by these "back store" and eco lounge places trying to SELL stuff. FUCK OFF and let real people review the chairs.
Hi, no I bought it from Office Designs. Nothing against them though, they were good with the price, sale and delivery. it was definitely new in the box. It's a design problem.
Mine definitely wobbles as well... maybe not QUITE as much as in the video, but the wobbling was bothering me for a while too until I just decided to ignore it.
The wobble on my Aeron has been really bugging me and I decided to see if there were any other owners with the same problem. I Googled "my Aeron chair wobbles" and here you all are. At least I know I'm not hyper-sensitive. It wouldn't bother me if it didn't make a clicking sound every time it wobbles. When I'm working late at night when it's quiet, it drives me nuts. Even the slightest movement makes the chair shift either to the left or right and it clangs each time, ever so slightly.
My father's company makes the innovative seat for this chair. Sure, Herman Miller makes this chair but, they dont make the suspension seating to this. I have grown up around these chairs and know that they tend to wobble a little. Not near as much as the one in this video though!
I bought mine 3 years ago and the wobbling was bothering me so I called Herman Miller and they sent an engineer next day, he had a look and said unfortunately all of them wobble a little (can't comment on newer models).
He tightened it a little which had no change in the wobble but the wobble hasn't increased at all in the 3 years I had it so far.
You could actually probably call herman miller up and ask them if there is any sort of gasket or any other spacer that goes between the pneumatic cylinder and the base. It could just be a worn part. Definitely pretty normal--I had the same sort of freakout when I bought one off craigslist.
I have found the large majority of wobbling on several aerons to stem from extra space in the joint between the pneumatic cylinder and the base. I haven't found any way to fix it--and there's certainly no risk of the chair falling apart or anything. They seem to, however, have changed the cylinder and the joint to be a little bit tighter and less wobbly. I have a 2006 model that has no wobble--but it might just be because it's newer.
I'm thinking of getting one almost like it! Glad I saw this. Prior to buying I'll make sure to check if there is any sign of wobbling. Thx for the vid.

You can tight the bolts, it fixed mine
fabriciozu 3 years ago
which bolts? my chair wobbles a little bit also.
chrispage919 3 years ago
Under the sit you can find some bolts which fix the sit on the base. It will never stop wobbling at all, but you can make it looks better
fabriciozu 3 years ago
That's not where mine is wobbling.

Well, I hear the new models don't wobble, but yes, it's rather disappointing to see a chair wobble at this kind of price range.
Surprised this isn't brought up more often as the Herman Miller engineer told me they all have a slight wobble.

I have that same chair and mine wobbles the same way. I believe it's normal.
