  • It's night time...someone is kicking in your door. Why would you want to fumble around, trying to load your gun, to defend yourself?? This video is now 2 years old, hopefully now you are past your initial trepidation of keeping a loaded weapon in your home. I had the same fear when I first bought a gun. After awhile, you come to realize that it won't go off by itself...you'll start trusting yourself and your capabilities more, and can keep your weapon loaded and ready to defend your home.

  • thats wat it is i couldnt put my finger on it it i knew ther was somthin differrent between his abd my mossberg 500 his doesnt hav a rib on it

  • @DEMCAD I keep my Mossberg 590 loaded + 1 in the chamber. The gun stays locked-up in a safe though.

  • dad keeps a 45 loaded next to bed in a drawer u need a pistol just incase someone wants ur stuff

  • There are non lethal (or less lethal) rounds or all types you can load if your nervous about leaving a loaded gun around. I've heard or others loading their shotgun with non lethal followed by lethal rounds. It would be safer in case of an accident and also not every situation calls lethal force. Shotguns give you many options.

  • is this an older vid? anyways..keep that badboy loaded demcad! with the safety lock on perhaps.great vid man..as always, good job bro.keep it up...V

  • I keep hundreds of shells in a old army 50. Cal tin box next to my shot gun. If your worried about safety, buy a concealment weapon. ( like a little 22. Revolver)

  • I keep all my guns loaded (at least a magazine), but nothing chambered. I live in a small apartment, and if someone breaks-in, I have mere seconds between grabbing a weapon and preparing to defend myself.

  • I currently have 5 guns in the house and 2 of them are loaded at all times. I don't keep one in the chamber but They are always loaded. The ones that I don't keep loaded are rifles. 308 and 22 mag They don't work that great for home defense , so there's no reason to keep them loaded.

  • An unloaded gun works as good as a rubber thats still in the box.

  • load the magazine full, just dont chamber one, turn the safety off, sit it by ur bed

  • oh my god a conservative black man with a shotgun...terrorist ...

  • @angrynhpatriot

    I'm from NH :)

  • I love your videos. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I hope people are paying attention.

  • Good video! I don't have a gun yet, but I do keep a baseball bat next to my bed and a knife on my dresser.

  • i'd keep the shotgun with a full tuba and nothing in the chamber

and when people come over just put the gun away somewhere

can't you just see some crazy lady running around your house looking for the gun to shoot you with it?

if they don't know where it is how can they hurt you?

  • alaska??? i thought flint

  • Its unbelievable and more so shameful how we have allowed to happen & there are several who took a roll and who still is running interference for this attack on America to take place. I fear by the time America wakes the hell up it just might be too late. But I have faith; never give up keep talking keep on keepen on.

  • Just look at the Czars in office, Obama has strategically placed them where they will do his biding and in rolls that are essential to bring our economy crashing down like a ton of bricks. Just open your eyes America & you’ll see an anti-American, or socialist or flat out self-proclaimed communist sitting in that chair appointed by our commander & chief the very man who said he was going to “fundamentally” change American and he’s doing just that.

  • Hey dude, just tuned in and checked out several of your videos, with that said I agree with a majority of what your saying overall, especially when it comes to the economy. I see a lot of very bad things happening to us, (the US), in the near future & for the most part I just don’t think people are waking up fast enough to the damage that’s being done, which I also believe is being done on purpose.

  • keep one in the mag so you have to pump to load and the rest readily available,

  • DemCad - Keep up the good videos My Brother !!!!

  • revolvers are great for keeping loaded because its easy to check and see weather or not they are loaded

  • Looks like your pretty familiar with that gun. But you know what they say," if your young and not liberal, you have no heart, but if your old and not conservative, you have no brains". Be safe. Keep it loaded not chambered. If the situation denies you the time to chamber a round, it was probably too late anyway.

  • The best thing to do is get the side saddle. I have the tact star 6 shell holder. And if something does pop off u can just grab it and go! But i do advise practicing loading and unloading. Speed and repitition is the key. Liked the vid.

  • Also, take a shooting class, which can help with handling a stressful shooting concerns.

Personally, I would keep the tube-mag fully loaded, but leave the chamber empty. Much easier (and faster) to just rack the slide when needed, then fumbling with live ammo during a stressful event. And when you do get a girlfriend, either put a trigger-lock on the shotgun, lock it ina gun safe, or train her with it so you can have back-up. ;-)

Keep up the great work. :-)

  • Enjoy your vids. If you feel comfortable with keeping your firearm unloaded until needed, then do so. However, as some here have indicated, an empty firearm is just an expensive club.

Have you determined which kind of ammo you want/need/can handle, e.g. - #00 buck, #4 buck, birdshot, etc.? If I may suggest, purchase some 12GA/shotgun snap-caps or dummy rounds, then practice loading your shotgun quickly and/or under stress. Fine motor skills disappear when under stress.

  • If a gun isn't loaded, then the gun is WORTHLESS!

  • why dont you invest in an autoshotty? btw keep the gun loaded and keep it next to your bed maximum protection

  • awsome vid! i just ordered an 18'' barrel for my mossberg today.

  • you can take one more step to takeing the gun apart by unscrewing the ammo tube that way you can make sure that theres no rust or gunk thats going to interfear with the feeding process and you can keep that well oiled also.

  • If you do not feel comfortable then don't do it. DO NOT leave the mag tube loaded I can tell you that much. get a side saddle and have that loaded. I have many of friends screw up shotguns because brass and steel will cause dissimilar metal corrosion and then they don't feed well. but yeah I have a side saddle on my rem 870 clone and have some buck and slugs in it and feel very confident in my abilities with it. like everything you have to practice with it.

  • Personally i wouldn't keep a round in the chamber in my home defense shotgun, but that is just me. I definitely would keep the but magazine tube full though. Be sparingly on lubing the gun as oil can deactivate the primers or possibly seap in around the primer into the gun powder. You would never want that in a life or death situation

  • A unloaded firearm is nothing more then a paper weight

  • I would keep them in the magazine but not in the chamber...

  • awsome!

  • Good job Demcad ! I think u should keep at least 4 shells in the mag, but if u keep anymore than 4 or 5 for a long period of time it could ruin the spring inside the magazine.

  • just got my 500 yesterday! I have chosen to keep it fully loaded and unchambered.

The sound of me chambering the first round will scare most criminals off. However, I do keep my pistol (beretta PX4 storm) loaded, chambered and saftey on.

  • A conservative Black Man ??? Wow - I am impressed - you must be an educated man who doesn't think that the world owes you anything... That is unusual. If I lived in Alaska, we would be friends... Your probably one of maybe 20 black people in America who didn't vote for Obama. That makes you unique and realistic. And it mean that you didn't believe he hype. I own a model 500 as well - love it...

  • @sbs9026 this is utter crap. You basically said "You're black but you act white" labeling people is just keeping everyone down

  • @marksiwel Mark - your obviously stupid, and you probably voted for Obama - So that makes your comment even less then relavant, and labels you a complete idiot. Where did I say I was black ??? Does anyone else see that I said that anywhere?

  • @sbs9026 name calling and being racist. Neato. Where did I say you were black? I didnt. Jesus. Learn to read.

  • @marksiwel - When you write so poorly that people can't understand - how do you think people will perceive you ? That's right Mark - Like your a FUCKING IDIOT !!! If DEMCAD doesn't think I was being Raciest. Then it don't matter what you fucking think - now does it? - Less then 38% of America agrees with your stupid Liberal ass, and that number is getting smaller Daily... You can thank your Uncle Obama and fellow liberal dipshits in congress. Using Race as a leverage tool is truly pathetic

  • @sbs9026 You say I write poorly, and yet you misspelled racist. Also it is "you're" not your when you said "your a fucking Idiot"

I did not vote for Obama, just so you know. Please don't tell people you're a Republican, you're only helping Obama get votes.

  • @marksiwel - Why do losers like you always go to Spelling as a way to prove your point? When has spelling been an indicator of intelligence anyway? Albert Einstein couldn't spell to save his life, and was labeled as learning disabled in grade school! So it looks like your lack of education has made you look like a giant idiot again. Just as pathetic as using the word "Raciest" as a tool to win your argument - It means you really have NO argument! - again... LOL

  • i keep 2 to 4 in the mag of my shotgun.

    but thats just me

  • I keep my pistol with no rounds in the chamber and a full magazine in it. You should at least keep a couple rounds in the magazine because a unloaded shotgun is a 8 pound club.

  • I would keep it loaded but without a round in the chamber...

  • hey 12gaugeLA - your an ass-hole, and nobody asked you for your oppinion here. Go spread your verbal vomit somewhere else...

  • i keep my guns all over the house and all of them are loaded, but my girl said she dont care but im glad she dont know how to use um

  • LOL no offense, but you are the only black man i know tha knows how to actually take his gun apart... instead of just spraying random ammo at a house full of innocent people. G

  • Just because you say "no offense" it doesn't make your comment any less racist. ass.

  • I was just thinking the same thing today.. i keep my 45 under my bed but without a clip in, but have been thinking its best to keep a clip in with nothing in the chamber and the safety on. By the time you may need to use it, it may be too late.

  • the thing with having a gun not loaded when someone breaks in is with the stress of the situation you may not be able to load the gun, just my point

  • and your barrel has NO front sight bead because.........??

  • Im in so cal I leave my Remington 870 loaded with nothing in the chamber by my bed and in the morning i empty it lock it up and keep a 22. on me during the day

  • ok update to what i do

I keep my 870 loaded without one in the chamber and the safety on but when im not at home i just leave it as is and put it in my new(new to me) gun safe with the other gats. so no one will use them against my family.

and I dont have to load and keep unloading it...

  • i live in Alaska and i have three shotguns and i keep them all loaded and in the chamber just put there were no one will fuck with them

  • i keep my mossy loaded but not chambered and there aint nothin wrong with that just dont forget to chamber it if you gotta use it. i just dont trust the safetys on just about any firearms . thats just my opinion hope it helps good luck

  • Unemployment is now at 20 percent. Oil has doubled from the 2008 low of $35 and gasoline has gone up 150 percent from its' 2008 low. Inflation is running at 6 percent. In Oklahoma this past week, a young man was punched in the face for his ham and cheese sandwich. It's to bad that we have a government whom doesn't believe in telling the truth.

  • When the collapse happens, DEMCAD, you will be the first to loot the homes of others. The looters always have guns.

  • thats y u should have a gun

  • I have a bean bag shell loaded

  • guy when I had guns I had a speed loaders tape to guns but I had the idea of having 357 pistrol and 357 level action rifle but in Alaska 357 would not save you here in Florida it is more then enough power to bring down whatever that is here the only conceern is some of the salt water Cuban Crocks i used to "get them with a small 410 but now some of my old nieghbors say that it takes two well place shot of 12 gaged slugs

  • Don't keep the gun loaded. Just keep three in the tube. I recommend #4 buck.

  • Keep it loaded but don't keep a shell in the chamber. Then you have to cock it to shoot.

  • The Mossberg 500 is the BEST beginner gun. Google Massad Ayoob to find out why. Its NOT made to be dry fired. Practice loading and dry firing with snap caps. Keep empty-you can chamber a round in 3 seconds and reload the magazine in 8 seconds with practice. Hide 3 OO buck shells in several spots around your house. Go to the range and shoot regularly or your going to blow a hole in the floor or kill someone. You bought the best gun now go shooting!

Thanks for the video. Good luck

  • Do whatever makes you comfortable, don't bother rationalizing it. If you change your mind about it later, load it up :)

  • Being single without kids.. I would definately keep it locked and loaded. At least rounds in the magazine tube if not in the chamber. You can keep rounds in the mag tube and use the mossburg cable lock that came with your shotgun if you dont feel completely comfortable having it loaded and ready.

  • Loaded and subbed.

  • I own a Glock. I keep an empty magazine in the gun and a loaded one nearby. If I hear someone breaking into the house or something, I can load the ready mag in two seconds without looking. But if anyone else discovers it who doesn't know how to operate it, such as if my little niece is visiting, then it's harmless. Without knowing how to eject the empty mag and insert the loaded one, accidental discharge is highly unlikely.

  • My 12 guage has a full tube but I keep the chamber empty. It doesnt take that long to chamber a round. Have fun & be safe.

  • Im in New Zealand, hardly any one has a gun

  • your alright man hey that would make you a good screaname !!!!!!!!!!!!(thealrightman) have a good easter

  • I always treat a gun like it's loaded because it usually is and that's the #2 rule IMO. 1st being always keep the barrel pointed in a safe direction. If you handle weapons often, sooner or later you will have a accidental discharge. I cringed when you repeatedly dry fired your shotgun on an empty chamber. If it's going to become a habit or for training, invest in some snap caps. No need to put your firing pin under the extra stress. You may need it some day, Good luck & thanks for the videos

  • I keep all my shotguns and rifles loaded with one in the chamber and safetys OFF. All pistols are loaded with one in the chamber and safetys ON.

It's not a real bachelors pad until there's oil and grease stains on the cabinets and counters, auto parts in the kitchen sink and an engine being rebuilt in the living room. ;)

  • ...and a transmission being rebuilt in the bathtub!

  • YOU ARE THE MAN. Im stocked up on ammo. and i told my mother to stock up on can goods cause theres about to be a food crisis cause the major farms are bankrupt. OBAMA WANTS THE GOVERNMENT TO BUY UP GUN AND AMMO COMPANIES SO WE CANT BUY AND PUT A 500% TAX ON GUNS. NOW IS THE BEST TIME TO BUY A GUN. you may have to order ammo on the internet cause the stores are running out. PEOPLE JUST DONT REALIZE HOW BAD ITS GOING TO GET

  • Comment removed

  • ditto, you are the shit, talking politics while assembling your gun-lol made my day.

I'm guessing your main threats in Alaska are hungry bears/coyotes going looking for garbage. It might be wothwhile to have some bucksalt cartfidges if possible lying close to it.

A few pellets in the ass of a racoon will keep them away without hurting them much, but your rifle is too big for that. As far as women over, yeah lock up the shells, and buy them breakfast in town in the morning:)

  • You are the shit dude. Looking forward to more posts!.

  • As my Oklahoma business partner says, "An unloaded gun is like an expensive brick."

...But you make a good point about crazy girlfriends. :)

  • great job disassembling your shot gun. Wow. I keep mine three rounds in the tube, chamber empty, with the pump released, locked in a gun cabinet. If I need it, I just pump the handle to load a round and it's ready to go. Fantastic job bro!

  • mighty fine shotgun you got there DEMCAD!!

  • Mine is loaded :)

If someone intends to harm you, they are not going to allow you time to load your gun so you can shoot them. No disrespect intended, Im just saying.

    Love your videos!

  • If someone breaks into your house you'll have plenty of time. It's also necessary to have guns for freedom.

  • I keep mine loaded but none in the chamber. The minute you cahmber one just the sound of one being chambered should scare them off !!

  • I permanently sealed 2 guns in my house within my walls beneath a 1/4" layer of drywall in a cavity i made between the studs so in case of an emergency I can just punch through the wall and get the gun when needed, and I dont have to worry about anyone happening to find it in the house.

  • Ohh man, You should've made a video of that. I have been thinking of places to hide some of my other guns but I ran out of places. Rememberthat if a nationwide gun consfiscation does occur they migh use metal detectors to find hidden guns. I heard they even have Helicopter with special equiptment that sees thru your walls and show any metals in your house like guns, on a screen when they fly over buildings and houses. Maybe I should buy a Christmas three Tote to burry some of my guns in my yard.

  • I see you didnt find your sight at the range - you should buy another one... or just put a little piece of wood inside of the hole at least :)

  • I keep 7 rounds in the clip, clip in the gun, nothing in the chamber.

I'm like you, no one should be messing around in my house except me. Even as it is, if someone pulls the trigger once, nothing will happen, you have to rack it once. I just want to be ready if someone breaks in in the middle of the night.

  • It all depends on your situation Reginald. If you have someone over, keep the gun empty and the shells out of sight. Otherwise; keep the magazine full but the chamber empty. Then at least if the gun falls over you won't have an accident.

  • Gday Reginald do your self a favor and buy some dummy shotgun shells they called shot caps here you keep dry firing your shot gun when you go to use it wont work cause you will have broken the firing pin.

I would imagine every time you touch your gun you

would be pulling the trigger . (Kid with a new toy syndrome) lol hey we have all done it lol

Good vids and keep up the good work

  • >you keep dry firing your shot gun when you go to use it wont work cause you will have broken the firing pin.

I don't mean to offend, but do you actually know what you're talking about?

My gun instructor said you can dry fire any gun bigger than a .22 without any worry of damaging the firing pin.

  • well dash this subject is well debated and i prefer to errr on the side of being safe than sorry i would hate to have a broken firing pin when you really need it to fire.

And as for knowing what im talking abt go google dry firing a rifle and see the results.Obviousley your not to familiar with firearms and personally i be changing gun instructor

Oh and im not offended i know what im talking abt

i don't take one persons word as gospel i go do the research before i attack some one

  • >Oh and im not offended i know what im talking abt

Thanks for those details. The thing is so many people seem to just parrot "common knowledge" even when that knowledge is wrong. I've heard that concern about dry firing but it's through the rumor mill.

Now if you had said you're just repeating what you'd heard, I'd know I can dismiss it. As it is, it's your word vs my instructors, so I've got a decision to make.

When I take down one of my guns I'll look at the mechanism and decide myself.

  • I keep mine loaded, 8 rds in the tube, NO rds in the Chamber, My hand gun is loaded WITH 1 in the Chamber, Because I carry that everywhere I go, I unload it at night to give the mag spring a rest and use vthe shot gun at night, then I switch back in the Morning, Works for me

  • This is a great video.

I live in the Chicago suburbs, and am pretty liberal socially. I used to be in favor of strict gun laws due to where I live, near a lot of crazy people. But not anymore. I think everyone should own a howitzer! I've got my own guns now, and am better for it. I know a lot of people who have re-thought the gun control thing, and who have purchased some firearms.

I want everyone to protect themselves against what is coming. It cannot be stopped...

  • pretty cool guy!!

  • I completely agree with you 100%. Thats why I never advise anybody, even an experienced gun owner, to leave their shotgun with a live shell in the chamber. Anyone can easily forget or accidentally squeze the trigger. Its just to dangerous to do. But I dont see a problem with keeping the magazine/tube loaded with at least 1 shell for self defense at home. The mossberg 500's & most shotguns comes with a safety notch to prevents from accidentaly pumping a shell in the chamber. I Agree safety first.

  • I'm sure you'll know when it's time to lock and load.

  • If i was in america/canada, i woudl try and get a sniper rifle too.

Those shotguns are great at close range, but if some fckrs hunting you, you might wish you could get him on his way up the road.

    Or from across a hillside.

  • I must admit, if every person shot a banker or Lawyer or Judge, then got shot, we would run out of bankers, lawyers and judges, before we ran out of people !

    UTOPIA !

(except for the poor buggers who get shot, of course)

  • We do not keep our guns loaded. We keep the guns and ammo separate.

If a robber broke into your house in the middle of the night, and got to your loaded gun before you did... what would you do?

If someone broke into your house and was ready to kill you, would you be ready to kill him or her with your gun? Or would you hesitate?

To me, a gun is about survival, not about protection from other guns. I don't know if I could pull the trigger without hesitation, at a human being. Could you?

  • Guns?. I feel better 5000 miles away from a place where Civilians have the constitutional right to use guns. No way; Europe learnd that. But you are still a very young country. Good luck.

Girls?. You can never be worried enough about some crazy girl shooting you. Good luck for that, too.- LOL.

  • Where do you live, the moon ?

In the UK, cops, lawyers and judges can get gun licenses.

Its only the working class who are snarled at, the secind they aply fo r alicence. And thats WHY police try to get ANY working class a crimnal record, no matter how small - they can NEVER get a gun, with ANY criminal record.

A lawyer who lies 1000 people into jail, becomes a millionaire.

But any working class kid swears at a policeman, on his first night out, will NEVER get a licence.

    Approx10% have guns

  • miguelsotoseudonimo, you said;

"I feel better 5000 miles away from a place where Civilians have the constitutional right to use guns"

    Well we Americans think about it this way;

We rather live 5,000 miles away from a place where Civilians are treated like children, where their gov take away their guns & leave them defenseless, where Famine is only a few hundred miles away from their homes, where they patheticaly in obedience surrender their guns & liberty to their dictator goverment. LOL

  • Defenseless: we don't feel that, so we don't really have the problem.

Famine: can unfortunately be found less than 'a few hundred miles' away from both our homes.

We don't feel like children if someone takes our guns. We just don't need guns to be grown ups.

I like the USA but there are things I dont accept as correct. And I don't really need to justify it. But thanks for the feedback!.

To all: careful with media. It may harm your common sense. Use different sources to document yourselves.

  • In the U.K. crime rate went up 40% after the gun bans. Actually 76% of murders are committed with something other than a gun. Murder only go up after gun bans. Criminals can just get them off the black market. Whenever, communism starts to take over, the first thing to go is the guns. If the people have no way to fight the government can do anything it wants.(it's happened before.)

  • DEMCAD; If you decide to leave the magazine/tube loaded(dont leave a shell in the chamber ever, thats how accidents happen), if you will keep shells in the magazine/tube do not keep more than1 inserted & maybe anotherone ready to be inserted in the tube; thats if you keep your shotgun in a standing position. Thats what I do, but I keep them in a gun safe, since I have kids. One shell inserted in the mag/tube will not wear the tube spring after a period of time. But keeping it fully loaded will.

  • they sell gun mounted shell holders, allows quick access to rounds without the weapon being loaded all the time.

I bought one some years ago, installation was quick & easy...

you LOVE your gun! I respect that.

  • shotgun shell holders = VERY NICE!

As Seen On "Cheaper Than Dirt"

    tinyurlDOTcom/djby3a

  • keep your gun loaded but behind locks.

  • rev4kane; anywhere you live in the US you should have an arsenal ready. Anywhere in the US. Things are gonna get really uggly here in the US....

Those in denial call it fear mongering; those who are smart have their arsenal ready, lock & loaded, or are heading to the gunshop as we speak.

  • Did that Mossberg come with an extra barrel, or chokes?

  • who's that at the front door....BOOOO

  • i keep a loaded kimber .45 in my gun safe all the time. i have all my handguns cleaned, cased, and stacked EMPTY in the safe except the kimber. the kimber lays on top of the pile cocked and locked. all i have to do is dial and grab it. i can't leave my guns laying around since i have kids.

  • Keith Obamaman was criticizing everyone that voted against both bailouts, that is when he lost my credibility.

  • I'd leave the gun loaded, man. If some crazed bitch wanted to kill you, all she's have to do is grab a kitchen knife and stab yo ass.

  • PS all the guns are out of sight.

  • Keep that shotgun loaded at all times buy your bed with a coat over the top of it so it cant bee openly seen. That way you will always treat it as loaded and will not have a accident. If you have company LOCK your BEDROOM not the gun. I have a loaded H&H 45 By the bed a Loaded 12 ga mossburg above pantry door by back door a loaded 22 marlin above display case by the front door. and a loaded 9mm keltec in mu overalls pocket

  • stock up with baby wipe real handy

  • I keep mine loaded and a round chambered, my personal choice....+..dry firing a gun is not good. And yea Olberman went out on a limb there.

  • Just load the tubular magazine, then load a round into the chamber when it is needed. and please do not dry fire any more you could break the firing pin. You might also invest in something to hold shotgun shells more conveniently like a side saddle or ammo belt.. Don't be afraid to run drills, pretend their is an intruder in your home and do a dry run. Good luck and never stop learning.

  • I keep my handgun and shotgun both loaded with the safety on and the chambers empty.

  • DEMCAD... Did you take the wodden dowel out of the ammunition compartment?

  • No, but this nice guy at the shooting range did it for me....lol

Yeah, I took that out on DAY 1,

  • What's with the fear of women?

  • The number of females killing males is higher than what the media will say... and not for self-defense either.

  • Would I be able to buy a shot gun, im in NYC and I was wondering if I need a licence .

  • YES! i live near you and you need a rifle permit and registration. good luck, unless you know someone.

  • I keep my Sig in an open cabinet with 3 full clips laying next to it when my daughter is not here. The rest of my guns are packed in various bug out bags for me and family members.

  • If you do not keep it loaded when someone breaks in. Throw your gun at them maybe then they will see you mean business and run away. Ha Ha Ha

seriously keep it loaded but not one in the chamber so all you have to do is pump one in.

  • i keep my ammo/mag and gun separate but within reach if needed.

  • just load the first two shells with rock salt, totally non lethal

  • I shot someone with rocksalt before and I felt bad about it afterwards. I never saw anyone jump so high and run so fast in my life, I think he was running and shitting at the same time.

  • dry firing will not hurt the weapon...

  • hey at least if you get shot in the face you won't need to live like a rat after the economic collapse... right?

  • Thank God Im not living in USA!

  • Ditto!! If the majority of Alaskans own guns That's one place off my holiday list.

I'm lucky enough to have visited the US several times but it's a no-go area now. I wonder if the people of the US realise they are alienating themselves from the rest of the world? No wonder they are seeing so many mass murders if guns are such a part of everyday life

  • Yeah! we should be disarmed peasants like those that life in Orwellian, nanny state Britain. Mass murders? more people die from drowning and car accidents each year you knucklehead - what, is the bathtub or the street going to be a no-go area for you too now?

  • Calling people knuckleheads for expressing an opinion shows your leval of intelligence or rather lack of one!!

Cars and bathtubs are useful items that enhance a persons life,Guns serve only one purpose. I personally would choose not to visit a person who kept a gun in their house. I would also not allow my children to visit gun owners. Is it not fear of other gun owners that has driven demcad to feel he now needs a gun?

Britain has it's problems but we value all life forms

  • Depends on where you live. In Alaska, having a gun is more common than not having one. It's not completely about other gun owners. Take Salcha, for instance, where the trees heavily outnumber the people. Moose are huge, and they can get violent if they feel threatened. Sometimes when the prey population is down we get wolves. Bear.

Here, we protect ourselves no matter what. People know there is more to fear from the wilderness than other people here. That makes us friendly to each other.

  • thanks for your reply, I understand you may well need a weapon in the wilderness but why would someone in the suburbs need one?

Today I read that a woman shot her son and then herself at a shooting range in Florida! Apparentley you only need to declare that your sane to be allowed to fire a gun. Would it not be better to have stricter gun laws maybe doctor and police reports. In England prior to the gun amnesty your guns had to stored unloaded in secure metal cabinets and the amo in another.

  • I think the problem is, that if you dont have a gun, a man with a gun comes and takes your money.

And if you dont take a gun to court, the court gives the bankers your money.

  • Hehe, I had this exact same talk with a couple of other people, and I came down to the realization that owning a gun for protection against other guns is silly. You want to fight against oppressors such as police? They will outgun you and kill you. You want to fight against an aggressor in your home? Likely they will be more willing to kill you than you kill them.

There really is no reason for people to own guns in suburbs. But, I worry that we'll reap the consequences up here, too.

  • you scare me

  • Well, I know that if I lived in the city and someone broke down my door, and we both pointed guns at each other, who would shoot first? Not me. I'm not used to pointing a gun at a person. A criminal probably would be; they'd already accepted that they might have to shoot someone: me. Now if I didn't have a gun, and wasn't threatening that person...would he or she still shoot me? Maybe but there'd be less provocation

But, for an instance of anarchy, I'd be ready methinks. Not yet, though.

  • Criminals don't like breaking into homes armed or not when there is even the possibility of the occupant being armed. We are all safer when even some of us are armed.

  • The reason the USA became such a great place to live for so long is because the citizens had the guns to fight off the British when they were imposing unfair opression. (nothing against the British) .

Unarmed populations often lead to tyrany. The founding fathers understood this which is why we have the 2nd ammendment. Hitler disarmed the Jewish people before slaughtering them, for one of many examples.

  • Anyone is capable of murder. With a new law that requires a psychiatric exam, there comes corruption & manipulation along with it. If all the politicians in goverment wants to ban guns & civilian gun ownership, they will use the "required examination" as a tool to carry their agenda. Lots of their examinations will be paid off to get diagnostics of false depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizofrenia, etc. They will use it as a cheating tool to deny everybody of a Constitutional Right.

  • We need guns at this point because the cops are just as bad as the thugs. Two-sides of the same coin.

I was approached last night while getting gas. All I heard was "Sir, Sir..." and when I looked around the man was standing behind me and said, "I'm not gonna rob you but..."

I pulled my shirt up to show him i was strapped, and told him "your god damned you're not." He wanted money for McDeez. End of conversation.

  • Yes, you guys value being helpless little slaves that aren't granted permission by nanny state UK to defend yourself against criminals or tyrants. Don't you think there's something wrong there? What, Americans don't value all life forms simply because we own guns?? DEMCAD has his gun because it might save his life, his property and freedom, and help put food on his table.

"A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity." Sigmund Freud

  • No no. It's not about where you live......It's about being in His Will! Thank God for that in your life. Besides that, nothing else matters.

  • A few years ago I had a situation to come therebut I didnt!

    Perhaps Gods will!

  • thank god I live in usa! moved here from germany in 1996 after getting divorced. what I like the most here? My 2006 chevy truck, my savage 30-06, springfield xd .45, glock 26, 12ga mossberg, living on this island in the florida keys. why I never went bag to germany in over 13 years? Because it is BOORIIIINNNGGG. Even though, they do make good pellet guns in germany!

  • Also, I wouldn't dry fire your shotgun too often. If you want to test the firing mechanism, I'd pick up some dummy rounds or make them yourself by emptying some bird shot and shooting the round with just the primer in it. Sometimes long-term dry firing can damage the firing pin or other relevant features of the gun. It's not going to ruin your gun immediately, but it's probably not a good idea to get into a habit of doing that.

  • I wouldn't keep it loaded until you've put over 1,000 rounds in it and have taken it apart and put together around 100 times. Once its use and mechanics become second nature to you, I would definitely make it a goal to keep it loaded, but I wouldn't do it right now as a new gun owner. Also, if you ever get a girlfriend, tell her about the gun and let her know that you'll want her to have a basic working knowledge of the gun, with particular emphasis on gun safety. CONT'D

  • More FOOD

  • My Mossberg isn't loaded but will be in about 20 seconds.

  • wat i was gonna do since i cant get a gun yet since im 19 almost 20...ima get a cross bow hehe

  • Thats a great start WakeUpNow2012. A Pellets/BB's Air Riffle is cheap and it comes very handy if you need to hunt for food. You know small things. Having a slingshot might come handy. It is better to have something than nothing. You can use them to hunt, like I said before.

  • Reginald, have you watched "manoftruth" on you tube- his latest video. He is speaking of famine in the United States. I hope we are wrong, but I think our worst predictions on economy collapse are going to come true.

  • I really enjoy Manoftruth and Visionvictory.

  • ..cont..

Ohh, and thats only when your home or at night. If you are leaving the house for work or to do groceries for example, do not leave any shells inside your shotgun. Do not leave it in a visible and accessible place. Keep your shells away from your shotgun before you leave your home all the time. Lock it up with the factory safety cable lock when leaving home.

The worse thing it could happen is that you get home from work and an intruder shots you with your own gun & ammo, God Forbid.

  • Also since you dont have a gun safe, you can hide it in your closet behind the clothes, or under your mattress by the center, but Not under your bed! You'll know the best place to hide it while you are gone. The more easiest way would be buying a gun safe. Dick's Sporting Goods sells them starting at around $100 or less if on sale. But remember that if you keep it with a loaded magazine/tube & the chamber empty, always treated as if it was ready to shoot & w the safety on at all times.

  • mossberg's are awesome shotguns.

  • I keep my .380 chamber empty, but have a loaded clip hidden near it. I wouldn't keep a loaded shotgun for the very reasons you mentioned. If you are at all concerned for your personal safety in your own home (which I can't see being the case) then I would just be sure to keep two shells on me at all times and have the shotty free of any gun locks for quick use.
