  • You could have cut the bottom out and tried fiberglassing. Hard as shit and it is fairly easy. I am going to try and do a build like this, just a little short on cash right now.

  • @erixon35 Sorry I meant the fiberglass is hard as in not flimsy. Confusing sentence lol

  • 5:02 inb4 one of your friends kids tries to change the game in your "NES"

  • Hey, I was just wondering how you converted the serial controllers to usb. You said you soldered it to the usb controller.

  • @s3cur17y

Well, more specifically I soldered the controller ports to a usb controller chip, which was then plugged into the motherboard. This makes the controller ports the actual USB devices. There are a lot of chips out there that you can find to help with the conversion.

  • could you do this to a PS1?

  • @BedfordMarcus

Probably - emulation of the PS1 and even the PS2 has become fairly solid, but to me it isn't worth it due to the size of the games. It's definately feasible on a regular PC (I have it on my media PC box), but to mod a PS1 console would be too expesnive and not worth it due to the large harddrive and more horsepower needed for the emulation.

  • @buddwm

The PS1 actually emulates very well on my old 1.6ghz atom netbook, I think you could probably emulate anything up to the N64 in a fairly small box.

  • @Dethklokpie

Ah, I see. Well maybe in the future then, who knows? I'd have to make the CD player functional. :D

  • i love where you go crazy with the dremel

  • Is that a SSD, or a 2.5" laptop HDD?

  • @DiDolRuChagi ssd

  • Your speaking style sounds like Angry Video Game Nerd, very impressive!

  • Did you have to RMA the motherboard?

  • @chupamiubre

Yeah. I wanted to fix it, but my soldering skills weren't up to it. I probably could do it now, since I've practiced so much.

  • like you're idea where can i get all the details to youre build would love to make one

  • @fsevilla1

Just PM me to get details.

  • Personally I think its rather interesting seeing such a modern hard drive (solid state?) in an old cartridge. Not to mention a complete PC inside an NES. Makes you wonder if they fathomed something like this 25 years ago.

I joke with a buddy at work about his iPod Nano "Hey, is that your new computer?" Who knows, in another 25 years it just might be :)
