Platimumfish44, interesting point if this was a one-to-one lesson, but this was from a lecture to about 130 string teachers about teaching. What SF was meant to be doing was teaching how to teach. The lecture needed to move on, so it clearly made sense to help her finish tuning since now the point had been made. Seems the right thing to do, but otherwise of course your point would be fair enough.
Poor girl. I know he's only trying to help, but he was quite rough on her. If I was the girl I'd be so flush and nervous. I've seen people break down over less. Congrats to her!
I'm glad someone is spending so much time on this aspect of playing because so many people overlook the importance of tuning the instrument exactly
