So you can change the music manually, too (meaning using music that's not provided through the unlocks)? So tell me: How come no one's done Solaris Phase 1 and 2 yet?
it's weird how SEGA hit the center of the target the WHOLE game, but screwed with the final boss music. I mean, musicaly the game is PERFECT. One day will ask they why didnt they add this Sonic Boom remix. Its means to be this boss music like u said.
Yeah... really disappointed by that. This game was so good! Great melding of 3D/2D sections that really perfected Sonic's style, that awkward mesh of platforming and speed finally found a balance and I'm ecstatic for more Sonic if they keep this up! But... this boss. Why? It felt lazy, kind of like an afterthought. Like they spent so much time on the levels suddenly "Oh shit! How do we end this?!"
"Sonic boom, Sonic boom, Sonic booooom, spinning through a world in motion!"
Wait, did you replace a song file or are you just playing it over the muted audio? Because it aligns really, REALLY well if it's just being played from a music player or something. It's crazy how perfect that song works.
@SoundNinjaSA2 Muted the audio via the options, spliced in the mp3. And yeah, it's crazy how well it fits, from the boss's titlecard to all of its attacks. It's like this actually WAS meant to be the final boss theme, but they removed it at the last second.
@HellfireMisc the 360 and ps3 versions features a custom soundtrack option: if you have a mp3 copied in the console's memory, you can play it in the game
360 can do it in all of his games (if i remember correctly), though in ps3 only works in some games, good thing is that sonic generations IS one of thoses :D (i already do it in my ps3, i fought egg dragoon with the egg emperor music from my music player)
I was just on my way to listen to Crush 40's Sonic Boom for the 6th time and I saw this in my subscription box lol. And this game is great but the final boss was meh.
I was actually expecting the Crush 40 version of Sonic Boom to be the official boss music for this fight, not sure why. I really like the Time Eater's design, I just wish the fight played better. If the control was less stiff I think it would've benefited greatly.
Time Eater's theme works fine as, say his main theme, but as a final boss theme it's underwhelming as fuck. There's nothing grand about it, no sense of drama, or real representation of the final battle. This actually suits it more than I initially thought it would. When was the song recorded, anyway? 'Makes me wonder why they didn't actually use it.
The music was the disappointing part for me, as a boss theme it's pretty good, but for the final boss its too dull. The gameplay was all right once I got the hang of it, but yeah not the best final boss ever.
And I believe this confirms my suspicion. If Sonic Team had just put a decent track on this boss it makes it infinitely better. Live and Learn and His World work from what I've seen, this works too. Good lord Sonic Team, it's such a simple thing. :)
Naw, this is the console's built-in Custom Soundtrack feature. I'm pretty sure the PS3 version can do it, too, since SEGA is one of the few companies that makes a point to program in Custom Soundtrack compatibility for their PS3 games.
Oddly Solaris doesn't seem that bad of a boss now that I watch this (it looks even clunky to me) though I think Helldragon has the right idea though that was done in MGS4 still, I think it would have worked better.
The song I would have picked would have been a mixture of Green Hill mixed with Super Sonic when using Classic but then it switches over to a mix of Live and Learn mixed with What I am Made of for Modern Sonic. Now that would be cool.
I personally don't have a problem with the final boss theme. Sure, it could have been more epic, but it's not bad by any means. I think what would work best here is an orchestrated version of "Fastest Thing Alive."
Man, here's what would've made this final boss better - the Time Eater uses attacks from every major final boss of major Sonic games. And the music changes appropriately. Heat-seeking missiles? DOOMSDAY ZONE MOTHERFUCKER. Metal Madness attack shit? What I'm Made Of bitches! A multi-phase boss that celebrates each game individually...that would've been an awesome final boss for this game.
Gah....this boss. I'm never going to get that last dumb achievment...-.- Although, the 3DS version of this fight, is actually quite fun, compared to this one.
I used the Stardust Speedway US remix in this fight, but Crush 40's Sonic Boom seems to make it EPIC!

The 3DS version of this boss is actually pretty fun, in my opinion. Except for those damn clocks, I hate those things...
Overall, I MAY actually prefer the 3DS version of this game to the Console.

@skellington15 Well, you can mute it and add in your own tracks if that's what you mean.
And I dunno. Not sure if S:P2 would fit too well tbh.
