I envy all you older folks who got to experience Lizzy at the best.... I'd gladly trade my youth of today with yours of back then, to see Lynott with band perform....
@belrandir I don't know how old you are, but I'm 56. If you're young I'd like to swap ages. TL were awesome before the word awesome was awesome ... and they were really nice blokes; I was in the band prep room before they went on and they were tuning their guitars with an electronic device I'd never seen before. They explained how the thing worked, even tho they were just about to go on. This was in about 1976.
Saw Lizzy on this tour at Sheffield City Hall. Electrifying performance. One of the best bands live I've ever seen. It still pains me that Phil died so young.
@Smithfieldis lol i guess i expressed myself wrong ... what i meant is that i wanted to be so badass as he was when he was alive ... i don't wanna live for so long too, i think 36 is enough ... but i want to be just like Lemmy too, he's fuckin' old but he's young ... i don't know ... Lemmy just has nothing to do with my grandpa even being much more older than him ... ah Lemmy is Lemmy ... well dying young or old i wanna enjoy my life the best way do what i wanna do ... and be a fuckin' rocker
Live your life as rocker! Be a badass! Nothing wrong about that. But all the `badasses who died young, 20-39, did heavy drugs. Except Lemmy, hi drinks. So does (Vincent Fournier) Alice Cooper, and a lot of other rollers. You wanna die young, do drugs. And try to be successful at same time.. You have to ´made it´ first, then you buy you drugs & die.. I´ll have a beer for you!!.. Listen to "shooting star" by Bad Company. Tell me later what you think about the song. Ok?
@Smithfieldis What a classic !!! Bad Co. is amazing !!! "Shooting Star" is such a wonderfull song ... well i think it doesn't matter how much time you spend on earth as long as it is worth !
Snowy has awful tone here. I love the albums he's on, but he's about as exciting to watch as paint drying.
Scott Gorham on the other hand was the man, is the man, and always will be the man. He's one of the most tasteful and poetic soloists of all time. Lizzy!
Thank you! I totally agree. Finally a person with some intelligence.. Mr Snowy W, wish i could play the guitar like him. But i wanna play with a feeling, as the american, Mr S Gorham. One of the most underestimated musicians in rock business. And the reson is, i guess, they never got to tour Us. If they done that they all would be immortal..
lmao thats funny. i dont think i have ever heard anybody say, snowey white, and good guitar player in the same sentance. thanks for the laughs. his solo is the same thing over and over. his solo on killer on the lose, i beleive i cant remember right now sorry, all i remember he does a pick scrape. is also terrible
Snowy was probably drunk or stoned out of his mind.. his playing is terrible here.. And he CAN play really great. Like when he played with Pink Floyd or when he's playing the blues with his own group.....
@Renhjarta lmao thats funny. i dont think i have ever heard anybody say, snowey white, and good guitar player in the same sentance. thanks for the laughs. his solo is the same thing over and over. his solo on killer on the lose, i beleive i cant remember right now sorry, all i remember he does a pick scrape. is also terrible
@mmallio I agree. I Don't know why it is so underrated. It's the album that got me into Lizzy. I only rate "Jailbreak" and "Fighting" above it. "It's Getting Dangerous," "Mexican Blood," Hollwood," "Renegade," "Pressure Will Blow,"... shit, the whole album is phenomenal. For some reason most critics rate "Chinatown" with Snowy White above it. I never understood that. To me, "Chinatown" was the weakest album post the Robertson - Gorham era.
I actually really like the Snowy era with Lizzy. I think renegade and Chinatown are great albums (specialy Renegade) though production wise they could be even better! Unfortunatly live Snowy doesn't have much distortion. It's a very clean sound and that doesn't suite thin lizzy. I can't believe Phil and the lads agreed to that.
Still I think Snowy is a great player and a very modest guy. It kinda shows on the stage. No need to talk bad about the guy though!
I never really got Snowy White - he just doesn't seem to fit, or even be all that interested - he's even dressed like he's going to a college lecture! I'd have killed to be in this band, and listening to this, I wish i'd tried a bit harder. And why does nobody ever comment on Scott Gorham - archetypal rock swagger and confidence! Was there through all the line-ups since nightlife (?) but all i read is Gary Moore this, Robbo that... (even though they were great too...).
One of my favourite Lizzy songs. I grew to love this band. im gutted i never got the privilege to see him live. Phil is a big inspiration to my music. R.I.P
Suicide is one of the best songs on "Fighting" and I consider Fighting to be the first " Thin Lizzy album with the "classic sound" even dough I enjoy Nightlife and the Eric Bell era much aswell.
Great song, Phil left a big set of shoes to fill! But what the hell is up with Snowy White? Is this guy tone deaf? He's not even interesting to watch.......glad he didn't last long! Long live the music and spirit of Thin Lizzy!
Thin Lizzy, es de los mejores grupos de todos los tiempos, y esta es mi rola preferida, del album BLACK ROSE...... Saludos a toda la banda rockera del mundo, desde Guatemala.
Read this on songfacts: inspired by an episode of TV series Perry Mason. Called The Case Of The Lover's Leap, it was first aired on April 4, 1963; to quote from one on-line TV database: "Slippery Roy Comstock attempts to swindle his partner, Peter Brent, fake his own suicide, and disappear with his slutty wife. Comstock's plans come a cropper when he's discovered murdered. Peter Brent is accused of the crime and it's Perry to the rescue once again." (thanks, Alexander Baron - London, England)
Great band. I was luck enough to see them twice in Ireland back in the 80's. The band line-up here is Phil, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham, Snowy White, and Darren Wharton who joined the band for the Renegade tour. All Lizzy stuff is great however my fav is Live and Dangerous.
Scott Gorham has got to be one of the coolest dudes to strap on a Les Paul! Chops, looks, swagger & hair. Total rockstar package....
