In my opinion Pinchas Zukerman did a good job. They are friends and he elicited many interesting stories from the maestro. He didn't interrupt, he allowed the flow to continue. He used his own professional knowledge to initiate conversation such as when he asked Milstein what was the most difficult piece he ever played. One could sense the respect in Zukerman's manner when he supplied the name of Michael Rabin. I have to say I enjoyed the whole programme immensely. Many thanks for posting.
I love that story he tells around 35:30 about him going from the sarabande to another movement of the gminor Bach....and Zino Francesscatti, Isaac Stern, and Michael Rabin all didn't notice! made me smile.
An invaluable resource here on youtube. Thanks for uploading. As an aside, does anyone else feel that Zukerman is a bit too aggressive here? Perhaps interviewing is not his thing...
@moldyoreo I think you have to remember that Pinky and Milstein were friends....and Pinky is definitely more of an "aggressive" or outgoing character....
@moldyoreo i agree Zukerman needs to listen more but i think he tries to pull information from him for the clip, i think in real life milstein doesnt talk much ....
which is the hardest piece he had ever played?

Of course I remember that. But how much more info we could've gotten out of Milstein if Zukerman would just shut up once in a while.

@moldyoreo oh that's what you meant. Well, i think in general, this was more of a sit-down between two friends rather than an interview
