The best thing about my blindness is that it's colorblind & wouldn't matter even if it I still had as much sight as I did back then.

I like this song better by Dolly Parton, she sings is better. I mean i love the song but it is sung better by Dolly. My grandma has Dolly's record for her her record player, and like this is the VERY first song on it, and when I go to my grandma's I am like CAN WE LISTEN TO DOLLY PLEASE!!! lol, but no, this song is MUCH better by Dolly.

Im half black and my (black) boyfriend teases me cause I love country music.
I was raised on it, music doesnt know color! =) Country music has stories and themes and meaning. Rap music, while fun to dance to, is usually just about how much money/cars/women they have.

Music is universal. It doesn't recognize color or ethnicity or anything like that when it's beautiful. I'm white, well actually Native American & I've been following Prince's music since we used to get bootlegs out of Minneapolis b4 he was signed to a label & then we got the ones banned from airwaves the same way. :) One moment I hold to dearly is when I finally got to see him on concert b4 my vision failed to light perception. The bodyguards let me stand w/i a few ft of him @ Jam of Yr tour!

I'm sure they told him b/c when he was singing a few of the songs he leaned down so close I could touch the tips of his fingers. For me, the memories are as bright as if they were yesterday. I had aisle 6th row seats w/ a sighted guide but couldn't see him from there. They even let me on stage to view the props b4 the concert. It was the time of my life... The best thing about my blindness is that it's colorblind & wouldn't matter even if it I still had as much sight as I did back then.

The song on the CD has Dolly in the background on the chorus. It's so much better and almost chilling. Sounds like a ghost the way she sings it. Wonder why this version (the only video I can find except live) doesn't include Dolly.

Nice version. I don't like how she cuts the last "Jolene" short every time but I guess that's what makes this hers. No one can compare to Dolly, that's a big bra to fill. xD
