but when marcelo got slammed why didnt rodriguez get disqualified isnt that illigal. that should be an automatic dq. whats the rules? If you have rules against it you should use it. I think you should be allowed so people dont jump up on peoples back its unrealistic in mma, and i know jiu jitsu is not mma, but jiu jitsu heart is for real life self defence and mma.
You have to remember that this is sports BJJ. A lot of people who want to compete work normal day jobs, they can't afford to be getting seriously hurt by slams and don't won't the risk of any permanent injury. Would it be more realistic to include slams? Yes, but then you might has well fight MMA and not even bother with the just submission wrestling.

I agree about slams, but leglocks, armbars etc can create serious, permanent injuries in athletes..
it is no question that you come to ADCC with your body on the line, and I've seen many top athletes walk out of ADCC this weekend, looking badly injured.

He just needs to train his kicks and punches and not always keep going for the take downs like he was. Look at Bj Penn, he's a bad ass grappler but he doesn't always just shoot for the take down. Give him time, I believe Marcelo is the BEST pound for pound grappler because of his open weight matches, and how Roger Gracie didn't submit him.
@burianyc well they stopped it cause of a cut, I dont think you can make an assumption off that one fight. Any grappler at the level of Marcello can step into mma against some good competition and they will definitely tap a good number of their opponents.

the gloves can play a factor. and really it had nothing to do with getting punched he ate a knee trying to take the guy down. and lost on a cut.
