I can't believe how cruel they are to these beautiful animals. It makes me cry that they don't realise how precious horses really are. They dispose of them without any forethought as to what they are doing. How can we stop them from being hurt in this way? If a jockey broke his leg, would they put them down???? OF COURSE NOT!!! because it would be murder. Well that's what they are doing to horses. Basically the horse racing industry is committing MURDER!!!!!

This is a sport wholey driven by profit as it's sick motivator, with it being a 8.6 billion dollar a year sport. They are raced as young as just 12 months, way before their musceletal systems have had chance to develop properly, whereas most horses are just BROKEN IN at the age of about 3-5! I hate racing with an absolute passion.
ugh, u guys, of course most of the people who race horses take good care of them, or they wouldn;t be alloud to race. its the fact that they race them so young, at the age of 2 (which is the age they start racing them) their legs are still developing so that sort of pressure on their legs is hard, so most of them get chipped knees or bowed tendons very early because of that early racing and then their are retierd and sold on for a pasture mate unless the owner decides to put them to sleep

Anything that is going fast and falls can be a fatal injury. They put the injured horses down so they will not be in pain.
Horse raceing ISN'T CRUEL. People say it is and should be banned because horses die in the sport. WELL GUESS WHAT! Horses die in other sports as well. And no one says it should be banned. Jumping for example, it injures and kills many horses. Raceing isn't the only sport that can kill horses.
When a horse gets a bad injury it is put down so it will not be in pain. They couldn't save Eight Belles, and they tried to save Barbaro. But, he was put down so he wouldn't be in pain.

There is steeplechase, racing but with jumps. I think that might have alittle more deaths than actual racing.

Thoroughbreds are given special feed to keep them skinny. But you can always fatten them up of course.
