  • Have you tried take vitamins like b complex and vitamin e to help the nerves heal

  • 2 years since it happened. I still have no feeling on the surface of the left side of the tongue. In fact chew on it so much that I've worn off the bumps on that side.

  • i also have to go take the other one out the same way, but heck no i wont go back.....i'll be pissed if the numbness dont go away

  • oh my god.............i'm feeling the same thing numbness and kinda like burning or something on my left side of my tongue, and its been 4 days ago that i went to the dentist to get my wisdom teeth removed, he took for ever to take it out, he also had to cut it in half and took it out in pieces and then he put me stitches..im so scared now after i saw ur video...im so glad i saw it though bcuz tomorrow monday im gonna call my dentist and tell him about it..hopefully it goes away.. :(

  • Your basing this on your many years of medical school right?

  • Had one removed last week I guess im one if the unlucky victims. I tell you what though better this than prostate infection I've dealt with the infection cause of my tooth glad its out limp dick an all that's cause I was 26.Word to the wise gettem out before you lose your job and your girlfriend.

  • Whats funny is people are complaiing of nerve pain , nerve lip , and are saying nothing helps the nerve pain. Do you guys ever realize to AVOID nerve pain, just STOP GETTING YOUR WISDOM TEETH PULLED OUT!!!! THEN YOU WONT GET NERVE PAIN!

  • the dentist who said that you should take your old dentist to the woodshed - should himself be taken to the woodshed and axed. He's a fucking idiot for giving you nerve damage - sue his ass.

  • Got sensation back on the inside of my tongue, but not the outer layers. still feels like constant pizza burn. I tend to bite it more often. Sorry if this happens to you.

  • @sprnstn84 I imagine you have a poor sense of taste now. I have a recurring cankersore or blister or something on the inner gum right next to an upper wisdom tooth whenever I eat raw vegetables like brocolai or kale stems and thought about getting the tooth removed, but it seems like it will be worse afterwards.

  • I had my Wisdom Teeth Removed 4 days ago and the same thing is happening to me. I'm 26 years old and I"m sure like you are worried that your going have to deal with this the rest of my life. The whole left side of my tongue has no sensation cant feel cold doesn't taste anything and there is a slight burnt feeling. I'm pretty freaked out. Everyone around me is telling me this going to get better but it isn't making me feel any better. I was wondering if your condition improved at all?

  • Were you satisfied with that oral surgeon? Hmmmm

  • Listen you nincompoop, if I ever catch you in the street, I will personally slap you silly till you repent your sin, and become a good Christian. The way you speak English, it seems like you are a taliban in disguise, perhaps a rag-head or a camel jockey. Now stop whining like a little bitch and take off that damn silly Met's t-shirt or I am gonna hurt your dumb-arse really bad.

  • Ok now I am worried sick! I am 40 and have to ahve all four taken out on Nov 3rd.

3 of them are poking out of the gum just a tiny bit and one has a cavity in the gum line so they said it will happen to all of them if I dont get them taken out.

I dont know what to do now!

  • OMG, this is like my situation, except my lip is numb and my tongue is fine!! It will be 3 days tomorrow and I am freaking out. Will not get the other two removed either.

  • I had nerve damage from wisdom tooth 5 years ago. I tried everything. nothing worked. in the end I tried homeopathy and then chinese herbal medicine. they improved a great deal reducing my permaenent never damage.

  • @rislam10 is your pain COMPLETELY resolved?

  • you got the feeling back yet?

  • it's coming up on 2 years for me this feb. i lucked out, not only do i have the burn but i have the cutting sensation to live with also.mine nerve was destroyed there is no hope of repair or graft. i'm singer, this has really left me crippled. no one, especially the dentist, told me there was a chance of this happening or i would never have allowed it. the dentist had the nerve to tell me "no good deed goes unpunished".

  • No. It was 6 months ago this weekend. And now the feeling is like a pizza burn constantly inside the tongue. But no sensation outside the tongue. When I bite on it, I feel pressure but no pain. Stinks but I have to live with it.

  • okay i feel like i burned the top of my tongue but only on the right side of it i feel pain when i bite on it but yea the pizza burn would be the best way to explain it but i definetly feel pain when i bite man this sucks im 18 years old too

  • did it go away? the numbness?

  • No. It was 6 months ago this weekend. And now the feeling is like a pizza burn constantly inside the tongue. But no sensation outside the tongue. When I bite on it, I feel pressure but no pain. Stinks but I have to live with it.

  • yes i have the same problem i had the exact same tooth removed 3 days ago and yes my tongue is numb except im 18 years old if that makes a difference...did you recover? how long did it take?

  • Thanks for posting your story. I had two fillings done 5 days ago and I still have the "pizza burn" feeling on the edge of one side of my tongue and numbness on the gums inside the two molars. I left a message for my dentist to call me - to see if there's anything I can do to help my chances. Good luck to you.

  • did your numbness ever go away did you ever get the feeling back? im experiencing the same thing

  • To Carpet 07,

Yes I still have it but there has been considerable improvement. feb 2 - dental work. 1 month later gum no longer numb. side of tongue felt like there was a clamp on it. felt like it stung - i.e. salt in a wound (but not as intense). the feeling worsened by tendency to suck tongue or press it against teeth (effort to check for feeling). Clamp feeling finally gone early May (came and went for 2 wks). Tongue still a bit numb, but at least I usually don't notice during the day.

  • do u expect to make a full recovery? i have more of a coffee burned tongue i have some feeling and i can definetly feel pain if i bite on it only on the right side tho

  • I'm hopeful. I was very worried when it happened because it felt like there was no progress at all at the beginning. 4 months now and I'm relieved. Dentist is a real nice guy but they seem to have no way of predicting thing (they need to work on that !) he thought it might take two weeks, then six months, then he said "if it's still the same in 1 year . . . " He recommended vitamin B1. Not sure if it helped but I took it - once a day with meals.
