  • Hi there, I want to use the actual nutrafin system with its own canister. How much yeast and baking soda do I need to put in with the sugar? I don't want to keep buying the nutrafin replacements. Thank you!

  • Exactly the setup I was looking for. Also, thanks for the comment about the wine yeast. How does the brown sugar help the mix? Does it delay some of the fermentation?

MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION: What is the background music? Or at least the artist??? It COOKS! and I need to find it. Many thanks!

  • how long did it take for your bubbles to start traveling up like that, mines just collect and sit there doing nothing.

  • Yo I hav the nutrafin CO2 complete system and my bubbles come out like 3 times slower......

  • i bought the hagen co2 system, the powder they give u seems to lag alittle, how long did it take until i see bubbles?

  • it looks like the bubbles from the ladder just go straight to the surface without really dispersing in the water. is the ladder really efficient for co2 solubility?

  • @aquyenl

the ladder helps the CO2 dissolve into the water by allowing the bubbles to remain in contact with the water longer. Is it efficient? No, its not efficient, but it is great for tanks of 20gallons and below.

I upgraded my CO2 setup to a cheap powerhead with a co2 tank and regulator for this 29g tank. I still have the ladder setup on two of my 10gallon tanks. I have two ladders.

  • @aquyenl Compare the size of the bubbles at the start and at the end. That will give you a clue. Of course the bubbles go to the top. It's a gas! No system made dissolves 100% CO2 into the water.

  • Looks quite large. Is it possible to hide this behind an aquarium background?? If I cut an outlet in the background to allow for the co2 to pass through into the aquarium. Can you orientate it so the co2 is released at the bottom of the ladder????

  • @gobanan11, yes I leave in 24hrs a day 7 days a week. With this setup, the co2 levels are not high enough to poison the livestock. I did try a powerhead diffusion setup w/ the diy co2, and that poisoned some of my neon tetras, though the guppies and endlers I had didn't mind.

  • do you leave the co2 in the tank at night???

  • That looks great, wish i baught a bubble ladder instead of a bell diffuser now. Whats the small green bottle for? And is it essential?

  • AWESOME

  • Does this thing actually work? I mean like the diffuser...

  • very good diffusion

  • ive been trying to experiment on a DIY C02 system but im having problems with my mix. are the rapid rise yeast good? and why 1 cup white and 1 cup brown sugar? some people add baking soda too. any advice. thank you

  • i use 2 liter bottles, i go with about half a cup of sugar and like 1/3 of a teaspoon of yeast. lasts at least 14 days usually longer. i have 2 bottles and try to cycle them so one is still going strong when im mixing a new batch for the other. i also have a bell agitation type diffuser so very little gets wasted before dissolving. bubble ladder is good too they just cost too much at my local pet store

  • @boradude25 wine yeast is better. more alcohol tolerant so it lives longer giving you more time between changes.

  • @thdebord

Absolutely correct! I switched to wine yeast about 4 months after posting the vid

  • I have the same 'ladder' diffuser in my tank and it took about a week of it running before the bubbles would run from being big/fast bubbles to the fine bubbles that eventually escape at the top. I have the manufactured brewing container and found that the sugar is best dissolved with the water before adding the yeast.

When it comes to changing the yeast mix I will be clamping off the tube so as to not waste the Co2 in the system. I'm hoping to see results in my plants soon.

  • a bubble counter is more of a waste for diy. unless u have a giant brew to make co² diy just doesnt put out to much to have a concern with ppm the way to prove this is it doesnt shut off at night and all ur fish still live! around 40ppm of co² would kill your fish so its no where near it with diy. nice set up but lil overkill on the bubble counter and regulator valve imo.

  • MEGA props man

  • is the green bottle for a bubble count

  • where did you get your ladder? thanks!

  • I have the same ladder and i just placed it in aquarium but bubbles won't move. They gather together and make one big bubble and then that big bubble escapes. Can you help me??

  • how often do you have to replace the yeast mixture?

  • @spydiscythe

most i got was 6 weeks

  • como se instala =/ no cacho aun

  • yes it does, about 80% percent in diffusion. You can see that the bubbles get smaller in size.

  • Does the ladder diffuse the bubbles?
