I think it is easier to live with mental illness alot of times then live with the symptoms of the meds. But there are a few instances where you are a harm to others and yourself that meds might become helpful but its a lose lose situation cause either way you aren't going to be 'normal.' That is where you need to be happy with yourself. You are the only You in this world and you are unique and take your place in the world. What do you think about this?
You are one of the very few who actually like getting the injections. I was very against medication in the past and I end up being the one who has to be on them. So that totally messed with my beliefs a bit but ya. Good Luck
Hi, Thanks for sharing your experiences with everyone, I suffer from OCD and a few other mental problems and Im on quite a few different medications myself so I know what its like in that respective, I was also seeing a pyschologist and case manager for about 12 months, but I decided to end it because I didn't feel like I was going anywhere, or maybe I just felt burnt out by talking about all my problems, I've also made a few videos about my life experience with ocd and about my life, Stay safe
haha. that is so funny! my room is kind of like an art-n-crafts supply closet! no I live with my parents in their garage and I have a lot of supplies and books and other random stuff floating about. :)
With advances in technology we're creating a society which is rich in materialistic goods and people don't have to talk to each other face to face for anything. I think it creates a sense of alienation and fragmentation in community. Regrettably people don't develop the emotional resilience earlier on in their development to withstand the pressures of life they encounter in adulthood. Medication AND talking therapies are a vital combination in helping people adapt to lives with mental illness.
draziom99 don't push your Scientology BS on to everybody else. mental illness is a very serious issue and everybody needs to be more aware of the impacts it can have on people and society as well.
You are extremely brave and loving person. Please contact me at Chipmunkapublishing i can help you publish your story in a book. It will help us to help more people.
Sometimes my meds make me sleepy, but other than that, they don't make me feel sick. You should check with your doctor if they are making you feel ill. Maybe they can be changed...Don't worry about spelling. ;)
haha. No I don't have anything against Berlin. I would LOVE to go there someday. I'm just not a Berliner (jelly doughnut). It would be great if someday I was a Berliner (citizen of Berlin).
Religion adds the voice of god thats insane to some. Your problem (if you have one) is that society doesn't feel comfitable with those who are not main stream or clones. Personally I like the so called oddities, it makes them so much more interesting than Mr and Mrs 'Normal'. Those psychiatrists are probably nuts and medication you speak dabbles in the black arts!!!
That sort of talk doesn't really help, or show much empathy, actually. Being mentally ill is a bitch and no funny or cute to the person experiencing it. Nice try, and I know you weren't addressing me, but I'd rather not have to deal with my illness, and I thank god for my psychiatrist.
I know what mental illness is, been there, still there. Empathy is fine, knowledge is power - the world is a mental asylum, tell me where sanity is to be found .... please
yes like politicians!!?? Actually we are all schizophrenic, in duality we all have at least two personalities for example love and hate, we all do that?
I had alot of fun with haldol. I took seraquil by accident once and my neck was all stretched out and I was foaming at the mouth. I'm lucky my dad let that one slide. Question: using your education is there a group of illicit drugs that are particulaly hard to treat the addiction for? ps...your as cute as a button :)
I would have to say that all illicit drugs are probably hard to treat, but heroin might win as the most difficult, because it is so highly addictive. Of course, each substance has its own problem. Alcohol can be especially hard, because it is legal and readily available and socially acceptable. So I think it all depends on the person. Thanks! Sorry you had problems with those other meds! Ouch!
Heh. Well, thanks I think. I'm glad I appear somewhat normal. hehe. I would agree except that normal people don't have psychotic delusions and mind-numbing depression...oh yeah, multiple suicide attempts, over the top anxiety, sleeplessness, etc. Should I appear more like the guy TedGod then? He's not on medication, I am. I know what you mean though. Thanks for the comment.
Yah, I like Buspar, because it boosts the anti-depressant effects of the Zoloft so I'm not depressed, plus it helps out with anxiety. I don't have any side effects with it either.
i think you have my position wrong. there is still a role for psychiatry, but for people who don't respond to psychology (you should know this) or other non psychiatry therapies and can't live a normal life without drug corrections.
the problem is psychiatry has the most damaging side effects of all mental health treatments and is often forced on patients against their will without letting them attempt other less damaging treatments first.
hi :) you're adorable ! if i were gay i'd hit on you ! lol seriously though... you seem like a happy person at the moment and for that i'm glad... i know it can be tough, hang in there, cut yourself the slack you need. from here looks like you're doing great !

But, unless they were given the knowledge directly, then medication would no longer be needed; at least in some form of application.
