  • j'écoute du james brown depuis l'âge de 14ans et j'en ai à présent 62 et j'aime cette musique depuis toujours ainsi que la soul !

  • James Brown, take it home ...my man. Remember this song when I wore the hot pants and they were smokin!!!!!!

  • wowwwwowwoooooooowwww jb

  • Fire!!!

  • gaga such madona wanna be if u like gaga u know jack about music !!!

  • Putting James Brown in the same sentence with ANYONE is wrong. He was the inovator and made it his own. I am 59 and was blessed to see The Godfather live two times at the Apollo in Harlem. Nuf said!

  • @MrBigben1952 Nough said! I'm 53 and i remember as a little kid, The fire!!

I used to dance around the living room and entertain my mom and dads friends!

  • @MrBigben1952 blessed

  • GOOD GOD!

  • I cant believe this guy was over in this performance! one word...POWERFUL! All you young artist out there, will you still love the music and have passion for it at age 50?! Will you still funk the music like a dog in heat? or will you roll over in your money and just enjoy where it got you?

  • whlle i respect Lady Gaga i do wonder what do you have when you take away all the gimmicks. Second i first saw james brown in 1964 no one could compete with that.Lastly you can't take james brown at 52 and compare him to a much yunger performer although i agree that at that age he was still working harder and better than most. But James Brown in his prime was unbeatable. Just ask the Rolling Stones

  • Thank god Prince and Larry Graham are still around. RIP James

  • james brown can't be compared to a skinny white chick. for shame!!

  • @annastar45 Word!

  • I was 11 years old when this came out. Heard it on the radio. Took my allowance down to the record store and bought the 45. Man behind the counter asked if I was sure it was what I wanted. I said yep, he smirked and said ok. Dad heard me playing it. Asked if I knew what it was about. I said yep, he chuckled and said ok.

  • HOT pants....

  • James "Hardest Workin Man in Show Business" Mutha Funkin Brown.

  • Before genetic Prozac Soul, before it was sucked out of our asses Bubba Ho-Tep style, this was REAL certified organic Soul food. Goes right into the bloodstream. No sample, no tweaking, key changing, fiddling. That's right, fiddling. A wank. So why wank when you can get up onto that thing?! Tell me, brothers and sisters, can you think of an Artist today who could follow this man? Nor can I. Not even a support act could hold his weight. The real opiate to the ears is through James Brown.

  • @Sirgreaseflick i must say, though i almost agree, lady gaga could give him a run for his money

  • I LOVE JAMES BROWN !!!

  • looks like a gorilla HA HAH A

    epic

  • chingoneria de musica

  • James R.I.P. :(

  • Good Music

  • This is a rehearsal from the hammersmith odeon in london from 85 i was at this concert never forget it or the others i was lucky enough to have been to.

  • sooo in the pocket!

  • Prince is the only one left alive who comes close.

  • rock it James !

  • Smokin rehersal. 5 Star funk on fire!

  • Too hot in hot tub, awwww.....

  • Saw James as a kid at the Brooklyn Fox.A professional baseball prospect before he injured his knee,he never lost that drive and athleticism.Exacting and demanding,he'd fine any band member that came up short, even for these soundchecks. But the results are self evident-legend!!

  • I saw him when he was 80 and he hadnt lost any of that energy

  • @fancythathat thats amazing because the man died when he was 73

  • Pansies i agree

  • Simply sends CHILLS up my spine to hear this man voice...EASILY the HARDEST WORKING MAN of sOOOOOOul to ever bless the stage...

  • it's still funky ain't nobody doing the funk was it was put down in the day. only but a few prople

  • ça ça prend les tripes

  • James Brown is the Best . For me is he the KING OF SOU. HOT PANTS JEHAAA....

  • i said god damn!!! Smokin'

  • Check out MACEO with the Jheri Curl perm!

The Godfather and THE JB'S INTERNATION...DOIN' IT TO DEATH!!

  • The man is 52 years old here and performing with more energy, passion and zest than people of half his age...how can ANY of the people in modern music even THINK of competing with Mr. Brown?! Usher? Fifty Cent? Timberlake? Bunch of pansies...

  • @Mazeppa6

    who is usher? ;)

  • @Mazeppa6 Lol. You got that right.

  • @Mazeppa6 The man is 26...just long time in the can flickin beeds.

  • @Mazeppa6 Its the Music It keeps him young, none of this new rap, or whiney songs that only complain

  • @BROVVNlE I couldn't agree more. When I see the x factor or mobo awards, it seems implausible how far popular music has fallen in such a short space of time! I don't think I'm romanticising the past (am 28!) but when you look at what passes for music/entertainment today....plastic, commercial and devoid of any actual musical content. We need Mr. Brown to reincarnate soon......

  • @Mazeppa6 Im Tom Brown haha thought you meant me... If he does Ill do all I can to help him succeed once again, Like hed need help!

  • @Mazeppa6 Yes and Michael Jackson...hes the real deal old fashion pure talent, ......if only we could trade them back with something!? what would it be?

  • @Mazeppa6 If legends were born everyday they wouldn't be legends

  • @Mazeppa6 This is the old fashion entertainer," from the time when only the real deal would become famous!! They needed to have the soul the strenth and the will of iron to give the audience a show...cuz they didnt have the advantage of technology yet!

  • @ScaredOfMars Man, I think you put it even better then I could! The quality and intensity of this performance (imagine him in his prime...) take the breath away. I have been listening to Mr. Brown since I was 15, and there has just always been something about his music that gets me. Obviously I'm biased, but turn on MTV look at that freak show the X Factor then watch any of Brown's ( or Michael Jackson's, or Marvin Gaye or Elvis Presley or Jimi Hendrix) performances....what the hell happened??!!

  • @Mazeppa6

Its called PCP and other wonders of science!

  • @Mazeppa6 good point but pretty sure none of them have been stupid enough to even compare themselves to the godfather. its not a competition either you know.

  • @Mazeppa6 You should look up French Montana. He really cares about making his music perfect. As well as putting incredible Enthusiasm into his music. Take a look

  • @Mazeppa6 James brown was one of the best entertainers ever. His voice was simply amazing.

These Guys like User, ... aren´t worth to be written in a sentence with James Brown. This was real music and there were real musicians and singers. Not like the shit of today. R.I.P. James Brown

  • @Mazeppa6 seriously this guy is a warrior...... of soul man..... this is a self-made SPIRIT!

  • @Mazeppa6 dont forget lady gaga, she certainly has more balls than anyone else in the buisiness, today, she can pretty much tie with jb

  • @flinpify NO she fuckin' cant and shes definitely not tie with KING of soul!Fuckin' remember that!

  • @Mazeppa6

    so true

  • @Mazeppa6 The acts today are a complete joke compared to the James Browns of yesterday .

  • @Mazeppa6 it's soul power man if you had it you could do it!

  • He is The Godfather of Soul!!!

  • LEGEND best musician

  • cool

  • Hot freakin' pants

  • yeah, hot pants, wore them all the time. The best part of this song are the horns when they come in.

  • I bet you looked HOT in those Hot Pants!

  • Sure did!!!

  • kariebeez: ...but were they SMOKINNNN'?

  • YES they were!

  • kariebeez: Well, "hallelujer"! Go on wit' cha bad self!

  • You know I know what I'm talking about

  • kariebeez: "Girl over there! With the hot pants ON!" We BOTH know what time it is...Peace.

  • At least there's something to be said for getting a little older, hmsheppard. Peace to you too.

  • luuuuv...james brown...RIP!

  • i love to watch his posture at beginning

    0:00-0:08 esp.i miss J.B FUNK DADDY

"look at here ahwoo whoaa, hot pants!

smokin' " he said? haha^^sounds good

  • In case anyone is wondering, this is from 1985, and I think it is just rehearsal footage.

  • Given that it said "rehearsal" at the beginning of the video....

  • also Lyn collins was doing background vocals for Jamesbrown in the early 70s during the same time she was doing her solo stuff.

  • the backup singer you is talking about is actually Martha "High" Harvin, who did the vocals on the original Big Pay back and the rest of his songs during 1970s and the update Rapp Pay Back that came out in 1980.

  • He is tha bomb!!!! Totally fire! Luv James!

  • a lot of peoples named James Brown these days :D

  • lord R.I.P JAMES BROWN!! SMOKIN!

  • You Gotta love James Brown

  • HIS

    hair is the DOPEST!

  • James was electric!!! In 1985. He was like in his early 50's after been perfoming for 20 plus years.

  • Smokin!

  • lose dat wedgie jorj. toota dat weji tone. hot pans dow good goh. thats wat it sounds like

  • lmao

  • Who is that beautiful woman with the dyed blonde hair ? I've seen her in a few of his clips. She looks just so lovely and womanly.

  • Martha 'High' Whitney - she has many backround vocal credits, from the 70's and 80's and toured with James for many years from the 70's off and on until the end. She does the high pitch scream on 'the payback'. Say her in an interview seems very cool!

  • Thanks Phunkville . Thats good to know. Actually I saw a clip of Payback and wondered if that woman might be her. Now I know.

Yeas it would be nice to see her in an interview. And I've got to say this again that she is a beautiful classy woman. Oh yes she sure is.

    Cheers

  • Incorrect. You are confusing two seperate JB backing singers, Marva Whitney, and Martha High.

This lady's name is simply Martha High.

James Brown produced her a lot on solo stuff by Martha High & The Lazers. Check It out.

Marva Whitney left the James Brown Revue in 1970.
