They like to experiment with their sound but most bands change in sound quite often as they lose and gain members. I'm sure they'll try their hardest not to let you down. :-)
I'm hopin the next album is a little more Colors/Silent Circus/BTBAM and a little less Great Misdirect/Alaska... No offense, but c'mon you know what I'm talking about. Huge fan. Love all BTBAM music, even (regretfully) bought Anatomy Of, for Pete's sake! Don't let me down. No pressure.
@jjstreet4 Exactly. There are distinct differences between S.C. and Alaska, or Colors and TGM. The only memorable titles on Alaska (in my opinion, obviously) are "Selkies...", "Backwards Marathon", and "The Primer" (although I do find Medicine Wheel rather enchanting). Sure "Alaska" starts off with great guitar work, but it too becomes forgettable after that. And don't "!?!?" over Alaska to me like its their best work. Even they've regretted using some of the distortions heard in that album.
@JFHenny regretted using some distortion. not regretting the music. and i wasn't ?!? over alaska like it was their best work. just wondering why you would want elements of selkies, backwards marathon and the primer included in their new stuff. of course there are distinct differences in those albums. they progress like no other. but lucky for all of us their new stuff has been released (sorta) and it has elements of every album they've done. and i think the new stuff blows everything else away.
