KFAB was (and still is) an AM radio station in Omaha, Nebraska (1110 kHz). They were probably touring and did a recording session at the Brunswick studios in Chicago. Quite rare since this is the only record they ever made.
@genia106 Thanks for tuning into KFAB 1929 on your radio dial, Genia ! Dont worry, this "cobra" wont bite! Its only got one fang, and thats just a steel needle! lol
Very nice record. Here's the line-up: George Belshaw, dir: Gene Piper and another, c / __ Triego, tb / Frankie Roberts, cl, as / as / Pete Peterson, ts / p / __ Durand, bj, g / bb / d Frank Sylvano, v. Chicago, April 26, 1929.
@Atticus70 So it IS a real band! From Chicago too! Thanks a million Atticus! It may not be Goodman, but Hot just the same! I'm so happy to have this information! Hope you enjoyed it! Gracias!
@2reeler I did indeed! You can tell whats going on! The photos of Betty Amann are just INCREADABLE!!! I just LOVE the style of this era!!! I LOVE THE LARGE TONE ARM!!!
@roybo1930 thanks Beef. I love that look of cute flappers! The 1929 RCA "cobra" tone arm was liscensed by the Atwater Kent radio company to appear on their model 75 radiola you see here. It's a cool look. thank you for the nice comments!
@bill3murr You are very welcome Bill. I am wondering if this band is a pseudonym for Ben Pollack or Jean Goldkette, and if thats possibly Benny Goodman on the clarinet? What do you think? If its Pollack, it could be Teagarden playing the opening trombone melody straight off the sheet with no improv.
j'aime vraiment le dessin de se bras de Radiola !!! c'est just sublimement 20's, Super disque aussi, j'ai eu aussi a remarqué que les Brunswick sont des disques qui s'use très vite . Betty Amann est sublime. Merci !!
Hi Biff! Another exceptional video! Love that Cobra tone arm, great jazzy tune and that flapper business! Clever as they come!
