  • When marty plays his sofa reaches anti-gravity

  • 7 people dont have fingers

  • What is he playing in the picture? I dont think its a kelly....

  • @xxguitardude93xx Jackson Firebird.

  • slumbering sam = extreme noob

  • PLAY THIS ON THE RADIO DAMMIT!

  • wow that was an amazing soloing improvisation by marty. thats why he is a virtouso

  • it doesn't make any sense to say that guys like this arent technical. He is technical, he may not sound like your favorite guitarist and he's not mine either but seriously? Marty is very technical and plays with feeling and thats what counts. That's how most people remember a solo, the musician make you feel the solo. If you can do that you are technical enough, people hold guitarist up on this pedalstool that's unbelievable. If they aren't perfect then they aren't good enough. It's insane

  • first heard about him today, he is bad ass. but i would not call him a guitar GOD like lots of you do :P. (dont get me wrong he is f$%^%&* sick but he is not very tech)

  • @slumberingsam what do you mean not very technical.... :s

  • @HeavyMetalVagabond maybe he means that marty makes his solos with his feeling and heart and someone just shreds, shreds and shreds wihout feeling.

  • @HeavyMetalVagabond maybe he means that marty makes his solos with his feeling and heart and someone just shreds, shreds and shreds wihout feeling.

  • @slumberingsam neither are most guitar ''gods''

  • Face Melter project

  • This is typical marty friedman shred. its awesome, i always wanted to hear one like this.

  • You see marty is one of very few technically gifted plays that does not play licks just because they sound impressive or are difficult. He ONLY plays licks that allow the expression of feeling to come through.

What is the point in playing a guitar lick if you are not expressing a feeling with it....

  • Kumoi petatonic scale. nice.

  • @sonofhendrix Oh, if only it was that easy....

  • Magnificent!

  • marty is my hero!!!! long live the god!!!

  • marty is a guitargod!

  • LOL GUESS WHAT THE GUITAR LOOKS LIKE!

  • fuck!!!!

  • wow ive never heard this before

  • lol man, that picture is badass.

  • i wish my sofa could do that while i play solos on it

  • who wouldnt! ;D

  • @aces519 if i played like that the sofa would die not just jump

  • @aces519 hahahahhahahaha

  • This Picture is fucking EPIC!!!

    MARTY FUCKING RULEZ!!

  • Would be even more epic if he was holding his Kelly.

  • Hell yeah!

  • I have a lamp like that. Waiting to buy a sofa. Any idea where I can get that guy ?

  • i have a style!

its called raping the jonas bro's at guitar!

  • @jruiz0990 that is going to be my new motto ,"raping the jonas bros at guitar"

  • I have no idea why someone said he's copying others....nobody else does anything even close to him, or if they try they don't do it nearly as well.

  • no one plays marty, no one. Even daves seasoned professional hired guns have trouble with his solos (Chris Broderick can do them though)

  • @Nofuture91 Thats bc Chris Broderick is a fucking monster!

  • yeah pretty much, if you write it hell play it. But when it comes to solo writing hes only OK. his solos on the new album were good, but none of them were really memorable.

  • @AWSH17 Yeah I know what you mean. Hes kinda like a player piano. Personaly I like the short solo he does in 44 minutes. Thats my favorite on the album but other than that its just average. Good point sir

  • as if that's not Marty Friedman's style, ROCK ON GUITAR GOD

  • got one question, is it you who plays and tries to sound like him or is it marty friedman? some comments confueses me

  • if you want to sound like marty use the hermonic minor scale. thats what gives him his middle eastern feel

  • hermonic minor scale that just crowned my day, thank you!

  • actually i found that he gets a weird middle eastern sound by the way he bends and plays his arpeggios. If you listen he does slide to different notes quickly which gives it a qwirky almost out of tune sound. I believe that is what makes him sound unique.

  • their called Passing tones my friend

Friedman doesn't exactly stay with in the harmonic family its kinda both natural and harmonic tonality's so rather then just 7tones hes throwing in like 8 or some times 9

his phrasing is what makes him sound unique.

  • Agreed, but the main thing (I believe) that make his solos so special is the fact that he often goes out of the designated scale, and when bending strings, he often bend from out-of-scale notes into notes that are in the scale. This gives us a strange sense of atonality, but still it's easy on the ears.

    Friedman is a genius:D

  • malmsteen uses harmonic minor most of the time, then why doesn't he sound like marty,

Trust me if it was just a bout a fucking scale to sound like marty, marty wouldn't be unique and the best.

Marty is genius that's why he sounds like that

  • @aryaxt marty changes scales as the chord progression changes...he plays a set of chords in his heads and as they change he listens to the chords IN his head and plays the arpeggios of the chord over them..check out his melodic control lesson video...damn hes a genius..

  • @aryaxt The reason why harmonic was probably brought up is because it simply sounds like an accidental in the 7th diatonic note of the scale. (one half step up) But what makes Marty so unique is 1.) his integration of various scales such has harmonic minor, penatonic, aolian etc. 2.) The way he is able to pull off various accidentals and transitions within and inbetween those scales, and 3.) HIS PHRASING IS EFFING AMAZING, his phrasing is the secret to his sound... Malmsteen is also amazing tho.

  • @aryaxt very good point...

  • @encguitarist Hermonic? is that named after herman li?

  • Marty Friedman is so cool! Tnx for sharing \m/

  • you're a dumbass, this IS his style, everyone else that tries to play like this copied HIM

  • I fucking love the scales that he uses.

  • wow thanks !

  • höh öküz aq

  • from where is this??? looks like a recorded warming up session...nice tone!

  • Thanks for sharing man :)
