  • EMD's always sound good, no matter what kind of locomotive they're in. Good video!

  • Great sound - the sound of reliability, of getting work done.

  • amazing how one locomotive can pull 50 cars.

  • @jaggass - True, but this train has 2 locomotives and 37 cars.

  • WHAT THE HELL IS THAT LOCOMOTIVE!!!???

  • @NS2658 - See video caption.

  • i'm guessing they don't have any TTX intermodal carriers

  • @coolman1558 - If you mean double stacks, then no, the loading gauge doesn't allow for them. Too many tunnels and bridges in the way, plus the axle load of loaded stacks would be too great for much of the track and infrastructure. Most lines have maximum axle load limits of 14 to 16 tonnes, and some with 18.

  • Love those EMD's!!!! Reminds me of the GP-9's

  • Nice video and great backdrop, can't wait to go there!

  • love the GM V8's in the Australian P class locomotive they have the old Roots Blower system and sound amazing!

  • Yeh very nice music to my ears, however I must confess I prefer a 'DX' everytime

  • I remember hearing a pair of GEVO's struggling up Tehachapi, they don't sound like the old 20-cylinder EMDs. They sound more like a truck.

  • a lot of china containers in USA

  • @microaggancio - This train is in New Zealand. Nowhere near the USA.

  • @microaggancio China containers? Really? The vast majority are "Hamburg Süd" "MSC" and "Hapag Lloyd", all European shipping lines.

  • @microaggancio there is nothing wrong on china. the most things u own. Pc. tv . gaming console. or even ur coffe machine was made in china.. not saying china is best. but its cheap to produce this stuff there and port it to the countrys.. in germany or Usa the companys would pay millions more to produce... china is just cheap... cheap people..low paid jobs... and thats what they use for their own profit!

  • Great video, go EMD!

  • sounds like a spitfire

  • Got any stuff with DA's working hard out too Geoff? Love to hear the raw unmuffled exhaust bellowing in notch 8 again. Good work.

  • @johnparkimp3 - I don't no, but YouTube video BXKF1g3HD3E has two DA's on the Mamaku Grade on the Rotorua Branch, and is well worth a look.

  • great job dude!! i love it

  • Beautiful train and scenery. :D

  • brilliant

  • A flat wheel means that the brake is not or partly released. The wheel can't turn around and is 'stuck at the track' and therefor a flat place occurs. A train can drive with flat places however it must stay within a certain limits. In Western Europe a flat place must be smaller than 60 mm but it depends on the diameter of the wheel as well.

  • awesome vantage point there...

  • Sounds awesome!

  • There is nothing like them EMD engines. You gotta love them.

  • I have never heard of a 1650hp lawn mower, though that might be fun...

  • Crikey, listen to that flat wheel at the end of the video. Nice to see good long trains, the more trucks off the roads of NZ the better....

  • By a 'flat wheel' do you mean a bogey in which the suspension has worn or collapsed resulting in direct shock force on the rails (hence the sound?)

  • Yep, if that's what's making the noise then it could do with sorting...

  • He keeps that up many more times and he'll through a rod or two in that first engine. They could use a slave engine somewhere in the middle of that train.

  • wow what for an loudly train sounds like much power behind this machine..

    it looks nice also

  • diesel power

  • very good shot.

  • very good cumshot

  • drive by retard!!

  • You got yourself in the perfect vantage point to shoot the movie, nice work!!

  • nice quality vid, what camera was this shot with?

  • It's not actually a video camera, I just used the movie mode on my still camera, a Panasonic TZ1.

  • Nice, does that thing have autofocus?

  • Yes, but as you can see in this clip near the start, certain conditions make it go quite blurry. It corrects itself pretty quick, but it's still annoying!

  • uuuuuuuuuuh i wish my ferrari had this sound, it´s spettacolore

  • See my video response. Two North American GM-EMD MP15AC locomotives both with 12-645e prime movers. These locomotives are roots blown, non turbo EMD engines. Enjoy

  • I like so much the sound of the EMD motors, it seems to the argentinian EMD locomotives model GT22CU/CW and GT22CU/CW, those are the typical couple of the General Belgrano Line in Argentina(actually in the Belgrano Cargas Line). Excellent video!!!

  • i dont get it?

    sounds liek a normal train

  • V.12`s are Better!!

  • *Drooool* :D

  • se fijaron esas "paralelas" lastima la ruedita mocha ...

  • BRAVO MAESTRO *****

  • such a beautiful sound great video

  • graet i have engines like this that pass by my house and are very loud but they sound great! they are made by GM and have the 12 cylinder 645E3C engines! sadly they are been scrapped to make way for new locos but there not all gone yet.

    /watch?v=MQuiy0noRis

    /watch?v=D6xhnYz_eYE

the last video shows how great they sound from a long distance
