I try to explain why I don't like this movie:Well,Oldman is a wonderful actor,he's brilliant in this like in most of his roles. I don't criticize Ford's work either...but the whole screenplay is a patriotic propaganda piece...the russian "terrorist" is the bad guy who kills without remorse and gets killed himself in the end.And the wonderful US President risks his life for 50 people and saves them all without being hurt seriously.This is like fantasy,this is not real and I'm not anti-american!
They could have made this film so much more realistic and thought-provoking if:
1. They made the president's character a little less of a fighter and hero.Taking out traineds terrorist and then fist-sighting the boss is completely stupid.2.Make the whole administration a little more divided and confused.3.Make the characters and screenplay a bit more complex,at moments I thought I was watching a comic book film.But that's Hollywood for you,too bad about those wonderful actors,esp.Oldman.
he played lee harvey oswald in jfk, a russian terrorist on air force one, and commisioner gordon on batman begins and TDK. He did all roles extremely well and yea its hard to believe its the same guy in all movies, the sign of a very talented actor who is VERY convencing!!!!!!
The first time I saw this I wanted to jump through the screen and kick Korshunov until he bled to death, he is so evil. Gary Oldman does such a great job in this film. He and Glenn Close really show their versatility in comparrison to Sirius Black and Cruella De Ville respectively.
Dont think this is only fiction, IF a radical leftist could have the chance of strike in the core of Amerika of your Goverment, they will do it with a smile in the face, theres a lot of hate agains western world, capitalist world. Rage, ira. Dont put your guard away, Amerika is a great nation and, along with developed Europe, Japan and Australia, you're the most developed society.
@jlistetson the clear blue eyes really dont scream terrorist at me, but yeah he did an amazing job as always. maybe the blue eyes make him seem more human and real, not just a definite bad guy
