That's 100 years of history saying Finland was a part of Russia. In fact Finland was not independent before that. From 1150-1809 Finland was a part of the Swedish Empire. So the USSR (successor to Russia) fought a war about 22 years after Finland broke away from it after over 100 years of 'ownership'
In perspective the southern US states were part of the US empire for well under 100 years before 1865

Not true at all. Help from France was vital for Finland. They send weapons, tons of material etc. I can happily say that France was the country who was really helping Finland. England mostly thought its interest, France didn't. Daladier was a true finnish friend and many other french people. France was ready to declare war against Stalin and attack at once. People also forget that about the aid money, USA sent 90% of it. Nazi-Germany wasn't finnish friend.

But there was no point. Leningrad was never our goal plus capturing it would have caused too many casualties. Unlike Hitler Mr.Mannerheim really cared about his soldiers.

We saved Leningrad twice.
During 1919 when we refused to attack Petrograd with the Yudenich troops.
It was the same situation in 1941-1944. Hitler, Jodl and Keitel wanted Finland to attack and bomb Leningrad because they knew that the city would fall because in Leningrad there were only weak soldiers against the Axis.
Our troops being in Karelia did not contribute to the Siege.
