  • Does she have a third cylinder between the wheels? I watched another video of her and she was slowly backing up and i saw what looked like the drain cock from a third cylinder coming from under the loco.

  • Yup. If you listen closely, the stack talk sounds more like "chugchugchug-chug" rather than "chug-chug-chug-chug" (if you catch my drift.)

  • yep

6 beats to every rotation of the wheels.

as against 4 beats per revolution for a 2 cylinder loco

  • Brilliant video

  • awesome, 5 stars and favouriting! :)

  • Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • i hope they make a model of her

  • Would you Happen to use Mindows Movie Maker? If so, do you know how to get rid of the distorted green line?

  • Yes, I do use WMM, but I don't recall any problems with a green line. Sorry can't help.

  • Whatever her livery may turn out to be..she is one beautiful sight..never thought there would be another new locomotive built..Its a big thank you to all those that worked on her..The age of steam is not dead..it was just resting for a while..thanks for posting this video

  • Thanks Jonny. Looking forward to seeing her again this weekend at the GCR gala

  • Nicely shot video. Good use of the zoom - you never let her get too close or too far. As for the loco - sheer class!

  • Many thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Is it just me, or wouldn't Tornado look great in BR Blue livery with a giant white double arrows logo on the tender?

  • LNER Apple Green, although Royal Blue would be lovely!

  • I don't think that would go down too well with the covenantors/supporters.

  • You are right! Try googling a site called 'Fictitious Liveries'. It is hilarious. For example GWR engines photoshoped in First Great Western livery!

  • Great video. Amazing how soft the exhaust is. It's a very "softly-spoken" and genteel engine ;)

  • Thanks. Should be great to see it on the mainline

  • Awesome footage of new A1 Tornado You've got there. I'm considering going to see Operating at the Steam railway Gala on October 11/12. How Much was it to ride behind because I got a £4 voucher in Steam Rail Magazine but couldn't attend due to college

  • Many thanks. It was £11 with the voucher. Details/prices of the October gala now on the GCR website.

  • lovely, glad to see her running

  • Thanks. I know there are plenty of postings on youtube, but it was good to see its first run for the general public.

  • Lovely footage, and I am the last person poking his head out of a window in the last carmine/cream coach!!! 5*

  • Many thanks. Glad you have a record of the trip. I enjoyed my run later in the day.
