Joe Strummer was my hero when I was a teenager.When I heard that he'd died I was so gutted as it was like losing a huge part of my youth. The world seems to be a sadder place without him in it, but at least I have my memories of seeing him play with The Clash and my records.
Last saw him in 2001 in Birmingham. Last song he played that night was Blitzkrieg Bop. Great fun! He was in a bit of a grumpy mood that night, but he was still effin cool.
I love Joe Strummer and the clash, and I'm sorry I missed the mescaleros playing, because I didnt realize they played so many Clash tunes, but I think I would've been bummed because that drummer is far too casual for this music.
