I love the twisting and turning to try and justify doubletalk.
Grassley: "We tried our damnedest to defeat Medicare. Now we are stuck with it. But we can't say we hated it from the start so we have to say we love it...but we'll be damned if 40 years from now we have to say that the Public Option is part of the fabric of our society."
Republicans are very careful to piss off the old...they actually vote. How do they sleep at night when they are so against one thing, but not against the other even though they are the exact same thing!!! And they were in office 75% of the time for the past 40 years. Why??? Maybe one day the old will give a shit about the young and vote someone other than Republican.
In order to pull this obvious contradiction off, the Republicans are having to do some remarkable moral contortions. What they're saying is:
1. Medicare is BAD because it's socialized medicine run by the government. But..
2. Medicare is GOOD because it's old. (ie-been around long enough to become "part of the fabric of this nation.")
Since both Grassley and Steele have said this I assume it's from a talking point memo they both got. Sounds stupid to us, but it plays well to the base.
yep. grassley's dumb, conservative and senile. I wouldn't trust this guy to make my sandwich at subway, and he's in a position to destroy healthcare for millions of Americans.
Sure it's part of the social fabric of your country. But that doesn't change anything to the fact that you need to get rid of it and replace it with something BETTER!!
It like an alcoholic saying "I can't stand the taste of it, but I'll fucking pound it back." What a joke these assholes are. In the pocket of the rich.

Grassley is endeavoring to keep the votes of the old folks at the same time he protects the billions for his Insurance Company buddies.

It must be nice that he gets government paid health care while he sucks the insurance companies cock..
RodgersRevolution 2 years ago 2
This is very true. Grassley is totally on the dole for insurers but you need the 'die soon' vote in order to stay in politics.

Medicare's good because it's only for old people. And old people vote a lot & mostly old people vote Republican.
jimwal2008 2 years ago
Let me get this straight:
1. The current health care proposal is bad because it's run by the government.
2. Medicare is good.
3. Medicare is run by the government.
4. My head explodes.

Please don't answer that.

I'm confused. Does Sen. Grassley have an evil twin? Or is he just mentally unstable? Everyday, he switches sides two or three times.

Grassley barely even knows where he is anymore.

Medicare is like a cancer, growing bigger and more resource hungry every year until...
dennist3hmenace 2 years ago

Medicare doesn't "provide" healthcare. Doctors, nurses, and other staff provide health care.
Medicare only pays for it with money they confiscated from other people.
dennist3hmenace 2 years ago
so does NASA, the US Army, public schools, public transport system, etc.
Are you for real?

grassley used to be merely a dumb conservative, but I think old age is catching up to him. he's clearly going senile. dumb, conservative and senile.

Dumb, conservative, and senile makes for a bad mix in politics or any other position.
