There are some out there, but honestly it's really hard to do. A good piano sound is so complex that the micron really can't "model" it with the hardware it has.
Other keyboards use a sampled piano where each key of a real piano is recorded at different velocities and then played back.
I think it's literally impossible to get something better than what's included in the "keys" category. two programs: ArEmEye Piano and EP?OK! are probably what I use most often.
How did you pre-record that one section? I know you can go into pattern's and record stuff, but i don't understand how to do it with just programs and not a pattern looping. Could you please explain how you did that? Thanks!!!!!!! BTW, awesome video and song man! I like it alot. I got alot to learn with this keyboard and when i get good i'll post some stuff, so keep checking for me bro! Thanks!!!
by holding the phrase button and playing to the tempo as you would in program mode.
another trick that gets overlooked a lot is if you add a drum program to a setup it'll ask you if you want to use that for your rhythm sequence (you can change out sounds of the drums without having to go to the rhythm editor) same way you can change presets for patterns without having to go to pattern editor
Thanks man. I'm thinking i'm going to make another vid. Anything in particular you (or anyone else) want to see. like how a certain feature works or something?
Just an amp, or any speakers for that matter will work.
It actually has a left and right output for stereo effects and stuff too. So if you have two amps or studio monitors it will sound even better. But it's not necessary to have both channels.
It can also output to a stereo headphone jack as well. So if you have regular speakers that plug into an iPod or something that will work too with a quarter inch to eighth inch adaptor which costs like a dollar.
Definitely. There are many drum sounds—around two hundred or so. Those drum sounds can be configured into Rhythm patches which will play a prerecorded pattern and allow you to play by hand with one drum assigned to each of up to 8 or 9 keys. There are also around 400 of these pre-recorded drum patterns for you to edit and mess with.
Everything in this video came out of the micron, in one take. The parts that I don't "play" have been prerecorded on the micron and then assigned to play automatically when a certain key is pressed. This is all done with the micron software on the keyboard itself.
Actually this one was recorded on the camera microphone. I did another one that had a direct line into my laptop and it sounded better, but I realized that one part was out of key so I took it down.
If your asking if the effects and sounds came out of the computer, then no. The synth makes all the sound models itself, output is just through speakers.
Thanks dude. I only made this crappy video to show a friend how the Micron worked and what kind of things it could do, but I've gotten a lot of views I think I'll redo it without the mistakes and actually record the audio directly rather that through the camera. This video doesn't really do the song justice, if you know what I mean. Whatever, check back later and I might have a better one up.
although, this is pretty good quality audio considering it's been picked up with the camera's mic. Unlike most videos, which sound like they live under an overpass.
Hey, thanks. Like I told the other guy up there, I might make a better one, so you guys can really hear it. I didn't expect to get any views on this one, haha.
yea've seen em. and yeah, they basically don't even count.

@ryanconsidine There are a couple of piano patches that one can download from the Ion Yahoo group. They are ok, but not spectacular...

dude, thats really really good :)
just one thing.. can you tap tempo say half way during the song to speed it up or slow it down?
mrkmur 2 years ago
you definitely CAN tap it to change the tempo. You can also hold the tempo button and spin the main knob to adjust the tempo incrementally.

That's class, Cheers for that

Maybe more a comparison of a preset and one of your patches.
fallloftroy 2 years ago
does it need to be plugged to a computer to power it or is an amp all you need?
