i got a sony a 100 identical to this video, it says full through the eyepiece and 0 on the right side when i go to take a picture.... how do i fix this? i thought it was a full memo card, but i cleared it and it still doesnt work.
I have this camera and when I say it's a starter camera DONT LET IT TURN YOU OFF.. its a great little camera for someone who is learning how to do everything, yet still has some great great pictures. Ive had mine for years and years... still working just fine. i would definitely go for this one! cheap and easy and NICE pictures... im moving up to the Nikon D5100 soon so I may have the A100 available pretty soon. :)
I've got the a100. Got the kit 18-70 f3.5-5.6, Promaster 18-200 f3.5-6.3, Minolta 35-80 3.5-5.6 lenses. I'm also picking up a few more goodies from a craigslist ad this afternoon...looks like (at least) 2 sweet lenses, some bags/cases, caps, hoods, filters. Pretty excited.
When you did the manual cleaning, it was just releasing the shutter, not cleaning. This camera only had very basic cleaning functions...also, IS should stay in the lens...I had this camera, it cant stabilize anything...
@willtheweird Yeah, the manual cleaning mode just flips the mirror so that you can check/clean the sensor. Hence why the camera turns itself off when you choose that option.
I agree it's a great camera, i have too a Sony Alpha A100 with a Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 APO MACRO lens + vertical grip Dicain VG-1 for Sony A100 - works great ;)
Hey man, great review. I wish you talked a bit about the card slot, which can take a CompactFlash or a microdrive. I don't necessarily like this feayure. Spoiled about SD card. I am not sure what modelt are compatible with this unit. I believe Seagate has something that works with it.
@paleozon The camera is also compatible with Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo cards as well via an included adapter. The adapter itself is a strange thing since it's shaped like a compact flash card, yet it can only fit in this camera. Still, I use it in case I fill up my CF cards. I've never tried a microdrive before.
@ForgottenSoul700 Are you referring to the processing after long exposures? It's removing noise from the picture -- an option you can turn off from the menu.
@Drapheus You don't need to comment 20 times. Due to spammers and trolls, I have to approve of all comments not made by friends. Since the awful new video page layout became mandatory, I've had many people make that same mistake - must be the interface.
@ForgottenSoul700 This is a symptom of recording (saving) the picture into the "disk" of the camera. Check the speed of your card or recording medium (CF card, microdrive...) . A faster "card" will ensure a faster recording and makes the camera system available again for the next shot. Hope this helps.

@Asyrafness YES, BECAUSE ITS HAS THE FEATURES OF POINT AND SHOOT....AUTO, MACRO MODE, PORTRAIT,ETC.....BUT ALSO GIVES YOU FULL CONTROL WITH P,S,A, AND MANUAL MODE...
i bought this camera , and i am much pissed off , cuz when i need to make a picture i have to see in the view finder , is there any way i can take picture by watching LCD ,
Man, thats lame. It realy is a DSLR,it doesn't have to give you option to take pictures by watching LCD. Few of the newest ones give you that but many still don't. If it is the most important feature for you, sell it and buy yourself good compact camera.
Not too sound like an idiot but are lenses that important? Like I want to step up to a dslr after messing around alot with photography and I was either going to get this camera with a couple lenses or wait a bit and get the canon eos 1000d any help would be appreciated
Get the A200 from sony's alpha series and save up to get a better sony model. all the lenses will be interchangeable and you have a lot more options on what type of camera fits your needs. lenses are important because they determine the picture and its quality check out some reviews on cameralabs b4 making your purchase it will save u time money and headaches.. good luck
Either P (which is similar to auto but the user or u has more options on what it can do.. faster shutter speed etc) or Sport mode (running guy on as image)
wolly you should never take a lens off with the camra still on because the ccd has more static when its on and all the dust in the air with go straight on it and also this camra takes up to 3.5 frames a sec not 2.5 thanks
Just to let you know, the sensor cleaning mode does not auto clean it from the menu. What it does is expose the Sensor, and flip up the mirror, so you can take out the lens, and use a blower brush or a sensor cleaning pen
can someone please give me a solid answer on which camera i should purchase......the NIKON D60, SONY alpha 200, Olympus Evolt E-510, or the Canon Digital Rebel XTi??????
yea i saw this then i bought one that was used for 10 hours for $380 on ebay so i hope its like this one and it actually works because this looks awesome

@Milby20289394bc The memory card's filesystem could be corrupt. Also the card itself could be faulty... have you tried using a different memory card?

does anyone know if it's good for continuous shooting?
altamont16 2 years ago
I use a 4GB SanDisk Extreme III card, and it can shoot at 3 frames per second until the CCD gets too hot, and that's after about 300-500 shots.
musicfreakcc 2 years ago
best to stick to the M, P, A or S modes but mostly the M (manual) mode since you get full control

You mean live view?
Actually there are some dslr's that have that but they are a little more pricey...like another $100, The "Canon Rebel XS" has live view.
You really just need to get use to it, looking thru the eye piece has advantages like making an even or straight shot.
