I wouldn't suggest you put essential oils in it if you have sensitive skin or in general because it can be pretty concentrated.I use a non-generic Extra Virgin Olive Oil to remove eye make up and have sensitive skin so I would think it'd be okay to use something like that if you don't have almond oil or something like that around. It seems like the scrub and the oil would take care of exfoliation and moisturizing at the same time so that's awesome. I would use organic cocoa powder though.
@ClaireDuLune11 Okay, just got done and have some advice. 1) Stand on a towel - it's messy! 2) Try to get the grind about medium - larger bits are too rough and hurt, but if it's too fine it won't scrub 3) Have someone ready to turn on the water for you, lol. I used vegetable glycerine in mine and I'm pleased with the results, but there is some pain from my learning curve with the large shards of coffee beans. Give it another try. 8)
@babyL1999 You Could, but there are so many good oils out there. I like almond oil myself. Avocado oil for older skin, jojoba for softening, apricot is good for any skin. I would avoid the olive, personally, because it tends to be Too oily. Toss a little vitamin E oil in there for smoothing the skin. Hit up the health food store or an herb shop and have fun looking at the descriptions of what all the oils are beneficial for - or Google oil for skin if you don't fancy a shopping trip.
Baby Oil contains mineral/Paraffin Oil and according to Aromatherapy - Paraffin does not penetrate into the skin. It blocks the pores through which the skin breathe. Whereas Jojoba / Hohoba Oil ( actually it is a waxy ester from Jojoba Seeds) is the most penetrating oil and it can open all the blocked pores of the skin. One may use any non refined vegetable oils - they are good for skin. But remember never use mineral/paraffin oil based products for the skin.
Could i use Vegetable oil and Sea-salt?? Ive just been wondering for a long time... Someone plz comment back or leave a comment on my channel or message me plz :)
@ulyssesislava1 Vitamin C oil would be good. Oils that are commonly used in skincare products like almond oil, avocado oil, vitamin E oil.... the list goes on. Vitamin E oil though is my personal favorite. It helped my scars fade a little, so if you have any facial scarring, vitamin E oil may be the way to go.
@natalie501 No, the kind of oil used in scrubs and cleansers is different to the oil our skin produces. Doesn't mean we have to stay away from all oils, just the unhealthy ones :-)
@whalewatcher321 In addition to what the other commenter said about the petroleum ...If you're in a lot of direct sunlight i can be terrible for your skin cells, it intensifies it.
I have issues with really dry spots on my face and it was becoming rather expensive with scrubs. The coffee/cocoa one is wonderful and leaves my face soft and smooth. I use it before I shower, as the coffee leaves my face a bit brown.
@MarcianitoRajoy Sure! Sugar doesn't harm your face at all, if anything it could add more of a gritty feel to it to exfoliate your skin.
Another thing you could do is use half of a tomato and dip it in sugar/water paste and scrub your face with it. The chemicals in the tomato are REALLY good for your skin. :)
And btw I prolly wouldve used honey, but since I didn't have any I had to use oil. But I do have a question- does it make a difference if u use canola oil instead of olive oil???
Wow I like this! My skin feels very soft!! It's only been a few seconds since I've take n it off, though, so o hope my pores don't get clogged, and I start breaking out!
Caffeine is produced and excreted by the liver when you drink and process coffee internally. The ground coffee has oils and is also the substance to adhere things to in this product.
I'm actually surprised that it wasn't mentioned what type of oil should be used. Oil IS great for the skin, but it's important to use only non-refined oil. Using refined oil can do only damage. So be careful choosing the right one - I'd personally go for Organic extra virgin olive oil :)
simply all you have to do is look up rices and their benifits find the rice that fits what you want then put rice in hot hot water for a few minutes until the water is foggy dont cook the rice then strain the rice out n put the water in a container and use it like that. Its really easy and mix it with the coffe mixture thing or u can use it alone i do both its a great toner.
actually to the comment above, is coffee stimulates circulation and plumps up the skin, reducing wrinkles. So caffeine in the scrub is not a bad thing
@distantdreamerx lavender essential oil is not only for the scent but it also heals scars, acne , acne scars, dry skin, combination skin, oily, skin, etc
its an all in one! please try this and let me know what you think. I would also recommend this for acne sufferers & people with acne prone skin because honey is a very good antibacterial

@FlyBackToYourHome The reason skin creates its own oil is because it is not nourished properly, so you need to help in order to prevent residue.

do you no of any other good exfoliaters
xnaughtypeoplesx 2 years ago
i would recommend as a good exfoliater:
lemon or lime - cleanser
(cleans the oil and dirt from your pores)
olive oil - mositurizer
(softens & keeps skin looking fresh)
sugar - scrub and exfoliater
(removes dead skin cells that clog pores)
honey - mask
(tones & keeps your skin firm & vibrant)
its an all in one! please try this and let me know what you think. I would also recommend this for acne sufferers & people with acne prone skin because honey is a very good antibacterial
