I was diagnosed with Keratoconus at the age of 17, at 18 my eyesight was at least 6x as blury as what they showed in this video. I had cross linking done here in Germany when the procedure just came out, I was one of the first 1000 to get this done. Even though it didn't correct my vision it stopped the Keratoconus disease. I'm now 23 and have been wearing hard contact lenses for about 3 1/2 years, they do bug the shit out of me but get my vision back up to 70-80%.
Dr. I have a relative living in South America, & doctors there have suggested a "vitamin based treatment" so I assume C3-R. I am not sure if Intacts are offered. He supports a family of 5 on super-low income, so a fix is needed (corneal transplant wait list = 5 years). One eye is "advanced stages" while the other is moderate. Generally speaking, what are typical improvements from C3-R, Intacts, vs both? & various degrees of deterioration in mind? Chances of needing corneal transplant later?
What I read in the newspaper, and I wonder why it is not mentioned in the video, is that Steve Holcomb previously had LASIK and after that is when his problem really started. So isn't this really a case of LASIK-induced ectasia and not really keratoconus? People with keratoconus cannot have LASIK. Also, can this method be used to strengthen the corneas of all LASIK patients, which are weakened by creation of a flap?
I have had this done :)!!! so worth it painless drops can sting a little but they have anesthetic. i sat there for 30min listening to my ipod. cost my parents like $1200 AUS
Wow I'm so impressed! I I had heard about the crosslinking thing but didn't know how it worked. I have keratoconus too and i'm so glad I watched this video 'cause now i know that there are other alternatives for this condition not only the corneal transplant. (which i dont wanna go throgh) and that hopefully they might work for me. Thanks a lot for uploading this =)!
hello im going for crosslinking and tcat on 28th sat seen lots of videos and wanted to know how come some docs cut the front layer of the eye to apply the vitamins does this depend on the eye?
It is normal to be scared at first, but you should understand that there are now means that can often prevent a corneal transplant. please call 310-860-1900 to discuss with a staff member.
The one million dollar question, does this 20 minute treatment work for everyone or just Olympic gold medallists?

Can the cr-3 correct ones vision alone or is it necessary to do anything else? Is it a permanant thing or does it wear out?

Am I missing something here? The only thing they did is the C3-R, no Intacs? I thought you had to have both.

and it improved your vision? does it last forever or do you have to get it done again?
i was about to get this done when the doctor who makes my hard contacts strongly warned me against it.. maybe i should rethink it now.

I was making plans of getting a waiver for the USMC for this so I got that done. I doubt i whould, but what the heck.
Think of the felling of getting shellac ink in your eye once every 2 minutes. It was like waterboarding.
Painless my ass, this better be worth it.
