I agree. We're terrified, just like any other animal. But for some reason, we don't like to accept that. We like to think that since we are so intelligent, we have no need to be terrified. We think that we are so smart, we can fix any problem that comes our way. But once we realise we can't, we also realise that we are terrified and should be because we can't fix everything. The terror is reality. And the reality just causes more fear.

The ideas brought up in what are we? both in the movie and responses remind me of the movie Gattaca. It deals with the concepts of what if we could genetically engineer perfection, would that take away our humanity. As human beings we suffer from disease and illnesses just like any other animal. In fact we are afraid some diseases can jump to us (avian flu). We are suseptible to the same thing animals are whether we want to admit it or not.

I'm not gonna say I would LIKE that, just what I think what would happen. Take a look at 3rd world countries who have nothing - their daily routine resembles that of animals: basically trying to find food and water to survive, building primitive homes for shelter, and reproducing. I am in NO way implying that people from 3rd world countries are less "human" than we are, I'm just making an observation and saying we're exactly the same - we just have more STUFF.

Neither would I say that people who have never been familiar with the standards of the western world, are less "human". But it's really a different issue to criticize the unequal distribution of "developments" around the globe. As sad as it certainly is! But focusing on western civilization, a lot of things I don't wanna do without come to my mind. Take health care for example and think about how many diseases can be cured today? Is that not what you would call teriffic progress?!

Well I don't think that this universe is anywhere near perfectly functioning. The idea of "perfectly" doing anything is not real. Just because it exists doesn't mean you get to call it perfect.
So I think maybe the universe just always exists. No beginning, no end. That is our flawed human minds trying to grasp what our 5 senses can't.

some of us live in beauiful mansions and others are living on the street, or in an old building with grafitti on it in new york.we're ruining our own planet and it's not just affecting us. we are becoming over populated and soon we won;t have anywhere left to the point that we will have to start killing each other just to SURVIVE.

Survival of the fittest hardly applys any more, we live in citys where we "get" protected, where the crippled and those who wouldn't even have been born alive get kept alive thrue machines and medical treatments.
How is that survival of the fittest anymore?
The only thing you'd have to survive is your own thoughts and not getting depressed over people not likeing you for example.
