  • Absolute newbie to trolling so any help appreciated, say if i was to troll for tailor or herring from a tinny, how far out should the line be and also will fish attack in the white wash the motor makes?

  • I would troll a deep diver lure in close under the propwash, say 30 - 40 ft back in the centre, and run your other lures out further back on the sides, and stagger them so they don't get tangled when turning the boat. If running rigged baits, run them further back so clear of the lures, they won't dive as deep,

    Cheers and Good luck,

    Greg

  • @Reefari Thanks for the tips, so fish arnt spooked by the prop wash and wake?

  • If anything acts as a big teaser and fish will come in for a look, but have the lure under the big bubble trail and will get smashed. Have the lures on the side in clear water if possible

    Cheers Greg

  • Hi Andrew,

Just a quick troll out the front, but no luck that time, although the Spanish mackerel are coming on, caught 3 on Saturday and lost a 70lb Giant trevally out. Definately worth doing,

    cheers Greg
