And yes it is necessary to cut the fur because it will become matted and hard to manage if you dont. Though clippers are better the cats are scared of the sound of them.
Shes not choking that cat. Shes holding her firmly which is how you're suppose to hold the cat otherwise they will run off. I think of she was into mistreating cats noone would be sending there animals to her.
Whenever my cat hears the scissors snipping. She runs away. Or gets feisty. Sometimes she gets mats. Not anymore, I guess. Because she gets combed often.
If you're planning to buy clippers, make sure it is animal grade (generally $100 minimum). It has higher sustained power output, and you need this because animal hair is more dense than human hair.
I found this very helpful, as we have a Persian, and it is difficult finding a groomer who won't:
A: Sedate the cat
B: Charge an arm and a leg ($140-$160)
My question would be, if I were to invest in a pair of Professional grade electric clippers, would there be a big difference compared to the $30.00 clippers I now own. I find that the clippers I now have, they tend to just push the soft cat hait, rather than actually cut it.
I love this crazy old lady :)

I wouldn cut my cat's hair I'm really scared to do so. Only when the knots are not stucked on the skin anymore I will use the scissors.

Vrikey, I wouldnt dare use scissors, clippers are safer. Is it needed to cut the fur anyway if there not matted.

I believe professional grade clippers don't jam up as much as the cheap ones.
