It could be that Bardock was indeed the first super saiyan, but I know when Vegeta first mentioned it he said the previous super saiyan was only able to hold the transformation in the Oozaru form and because of that he destroyed the planet along with himself. So either the legend was distorted, Bardock was sent back more than 1000 years and there were other super saiyans, or it is just another plot hole that they messed up on. Anyway, Bardock as a super saiyan is badass.

Since Saiyans and the Tuffle inhabited the planet presumably after the plants, that being b4 age 700. Also, Chilled is described as 'ancestor' of Freeza, King Cold and Cooler. The knowledge about Super Saiyan's power became a rumor, or a legend, that too gives an idea of the events of this episode taking place quite long ago. I hope I'm making sense here <_<

@iRenz0 Bardock never turned super saiyan, if he did, Frieza would have been killed. Frieza says during the frieza saga that once he turns into another form, he cannot turn back. Frieza was in his first form during thebeginning of the frieza saga, so he obviously never transformed. He would of had to transform to his fourth form and go 100% power do defeat a super saiyan anyway, and if he did that, he could never of turned back. They showed how Bardock died anyway, this was a useless plot.

All it does is triple the power you already have. To Go super sayian you just have to control the anger you possess and turn it into power. and be a sayian. Plus this is Lord Chilled, who's to say he is not as strong or stronger than Frieza's final form?

@aPIMPnameMOSES SSJ only relies on the anger the host feels to be released. If he's only around 8,000 and goes SSJ. He'll get a decent boost, but he'll just be a weak SSJ. I mean Goku's standard SSJ form is obviously a LOT stronger than when he first unleashed it. Power level doesn't stop the transformation, it only shows how much power he will have when he transforms.
