Thanks for posting! If any film is crying for a remake, this is it. I'd begin by getting rid of the hokey 1980's sound track. Why did the director, or studio hacks, feel the need to add the bear attack?! The book's unfolding story of Brian's adaption, observation and survival was fascinating enough. Even though the film is made on the cheap, no excuse for crappy production values. A director like Wim Wenders or Werner Herzog could work wonders with this material.

Black bear cubs stay with their mother for 16-17 months. 5-6 month old's may survive but the odds are not good. They may have been dead within a few weeks or a few days from predator's or lack of nutrition..
