  • This was so far ahead of it's time. WTF happened?

  • 1969: Huh?, What?

2011: Dude, check out Windows 7.....

  • The man is clearly proof of time travel.

  • this guy was thinkin PDA before any type of personal computer was even practical!

  • how did he just copy like that????they used command lines in 1983..but in 1968 he just copys in a push of button???am sure they got it from alien!!

  • It goes to show how old the technology in our homes that we think is modern is really old.

I mean Plasma and LCD technology has been around for well over 25 yrs.

  • This stuff is scientifically impossible! This man is a sorcerer! Burn him!

  • now you can imagine, that they were on the moon, also ahead of the time

  • That headset he's wearing is surprisingly compact, too.

  • my grandpa was on that team :D

  • damn its to bad the mouse idea dident get thrue. I would realy like to try that pointing device

  • man, this is pretty fucking advanced for 1968, they were still using command lines in 1995 with dos

  • Most computers in 1968 were batch mode machines run with punch cards where a programmer would hand in a job made of a deck of cards, and a few days later (if he was lucky) he'd get back a print-out of his results. That's only if you worked for one of the few military, government or corporate installations that actually had a computer. Englebart envisioned networked time-shared computers with mice, chorded handsets that would speed up typing, and audio-visual integration. Super f*cking avanced!

  • The sound you are hearing is probably the sound the cpu made while coming over a radio, or may be part of the feedback.. I know of the Commodore 64's that if you put the computer next to a radio you could hear the progress of the operations..

I know froms stories my father, working at LANL, had about the mainframe "stretch" in the 60's, would make all sorts of noises while running, and even on Xmas they'd program it to play jingle bells using looping constructs and wait states.

  • I meant to say "probably using looping ...", I don't know for sure.. There was a hack someone had with the C64 to make the floppy drive play daisy by operating the drive head in various ways.

  • yep. it also happens when you put any device with a processor (iphone mp3 players watever) infront of a plugged guitar pick-up. You find that they are actually very noisy!

  • engelbart! hasme un hijo!

    Engelbart! Make me a baby!
