  • How marvellous this music is....

  • troy donahue became a big star after this movie was released....from the early 60's to mid 60's.

    i remember those days.

  • I saw this lovely movie few times,I love this song in my car & iTune ,

    Thank you very much.

  • Thanks for the upload. One of the best film themes ever.

  • Great, well-put-together video for this song with clips from the movie, well done Muirmaiden. This song went to #1 in Feb. 1960 and stayed there for 9 weeks

  • Lovely memories !!!

  • Born in 1957 this song has accompanied me throughout the years and I still can`t wait to hear it once more. Just sentimental I guess! Thanks for these loving memories.

  • Thank you , Beautiful .

  • The day I was born (17/7/1960) in Italy Percy Faith's Theme from the movie was the top of the charts. I just discovered yesterday, but for many years this music has been one of my favourites. And, as a girl, one of my favourite movies too. H

  • @MrWileyk I was uncomfortable watching this movie for the reason you bring up. I felt like we the audience were supposed to somehow "approve" of Ken and Sylvia cheating on their spouses. Loved Troy D., Sandra D. and the music, though.

  • @jaytlr9 I never got the idea that I was supposed to approve of Ken and Sylvia's cheating on their spouses. and I have been watching this film over 40 years. What I felt was a sadness that these two loving people were young once, and very much in love, before their spouses even entered the picture, however because of circumstances, they couldn't fight, they eventually ended up with other people, they tried to make a life with. Complex relationships, real life.

  • Remember when music use to be beautiful?

  • I was young when I heard this beautiful instrumental which led me towards a career in music, let us not forget the composer...Max Steiner...genius.

  • @999henery My gosh, I didn't realize this was Max Steiner. I always associated it with Percy Faith, but I guess he was the arranger? Thanks for the info.

  • this is about a time when there were social rules, sex was an act of love, not recreation, there was an innocence about it ...the people in this film crossed the line, and paid a price...when love meant something and had a meaning and a cost ..I would go back in a heartbeat

  • I've always loved this song from the moment I'd first heard it. Love the arrangement of this orchestra as well, everything from the violins to the french horns. So many wonderful memories from the 60's. This even reminds me of the times I was a ballerina. Then there's the movie....so passionate, yet tender.

  • My favorite song & movie. I could watch this a million times. Troy Donahue & Sandra Dee, love it. It was so romatic and yet at the time they made it seem so risque

  • Love the movie, the time and the theme. Love Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue and saw almost every movie he made. I wonder what's become of him. The themes were everyday emotions placed on the screen.

  • I was born in 1980 and I love this song!!!!!! Does anybody know where I can find the movie? I would love to see it!!!!!!!!

  • @Rfvansaun , it's on DVD and VHS. Amazon carries both.

  • @Muirmaiden Thanks!!!!!! I am ordering it right away!!!!!

  • @Rfvansaun Yes. You can pick up a new copy for about $6.50 from amazon.com

  • Lovely tune!!!

  • Girls were so demure back in the 50s, i wish i had been around back then, lovely video.

  • This song gives me the chills. Wasn't even born when this came out but thanks to my mom, who always listen to these songs when I was a kid I grew to love them. Not to mention she likes to tell me stories from the old movies. :)

  • Love this movie.

  • I always loved that young blonde actress, but I can't remember her name

  • @clips4ever Sandra Dee who later married Bobby Darin.

  • @dandydee1000 Thanks :)

  • I'm a little kid on my back porch on a summer night when I hear this. I think not of the time from then to today , I thank God for returning me to that moment

  • @MrPHIL1204 Amazing this long journey from then till now and back again. To hear this music, to be transported to an earlier time, to see who I am and where I'm from is magical and splendid.

  • I heard this in Walgreens today. It made me think of when I was a kid and my Grandma used to take me to Alco...in the 70s...

  • A different world and a diferrent time back then,now it's it's just shit music,like

lady fagot and Taylor shit who have no clue what class is and NO talent

  • what a wondeful theme!!- I,m 31 years old, and LOVE classics. I saw this film in Dublin, where I was born and raise. Now..I have the gift to hear this music again. I love Miss Mc Guire also. And feel very sorry for the death of Sandra Dee. Lovely video!!. Matthew

  • whenever I hear it it makes me think of the movie RoseRed :(

  • Ah, yes, my favorite movie and song for many years. l was 17 when this came out, and I identified totally with the Sandra Dee character and was in love with Troy Donahue. The music is unforgettable - a classic - timeless.

  • Good film, classic theme. Thanks for posting. It sure rekindles fond memories.

  • An enchanting movie, I loved it, still love it. Beautiful people!

  • I grew up during this magical time. Of course I didn't know it was magical then. I just took it for granted. Why does it seem like the girls were prettier then? More femine and soft? I loved this movie and I love the theme from "A Summer Place" This song played everywhere me and my then boyfriend went. We soon began to call it our song. And we got married in 1960 and we are still together.

  • @VVGrules Now so many women scar themselves with tatoos and piercings, ect. Yes, women were more feminine, and men were more manly overall. We thought it was OK to have different and distinct genders. Man and Women, little girl, little boy, young man, young lady.

  • @VVGrules

the way it was supposed to be happy u lived the dream

  • Beautiful score, and anything with Dorothy McGuire in it is just fabulous!

  • Amazing is it not that some music still endures? My 10 yr old grand daughter loves this......

  • Nice clips. A very nice video featuring a great theme from a great movie.

  • I love this,I was only 5 at the time sure brings alot of memories.

  • great movie and song

  • This movie is the soundtrack to my life.

  • Yes, we used to watch these tv shows, back-then. But, they were all in B&W.

But it was all very magical.

Such beauty: God bless you, thanks for the memory, of it. Wonderful stuff.

    :) John

  • Sentimental old fool that I am, I wish I was growing up in this era but missed it by a few years. I recall there was another similar movie on televison around the same time but can't remember for the life of me the title. I 'm hoping someone might remember. It was about the sexual revoution in high school, and the students revolted in support of the teaching of sex education and went on a protest outside the local high school. Suggestions anyone?? It would be appreciated. Similar romance movie.

  • @TheOldie56

sounds like Where the Boys Are.

  • Beautiful. They simply make neither movies nor music like this anymore!

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • I remember this movie from my childhood, Lovely memories and beautiful music, Thankyou.))

  • thanks a lot

  • Thank you for posting this wonderful music and the video of those lovely actors. Innocent times! Maya
