This is one case where I greatly prefer the US version. The gameplay here (in the special stages) is not ultra-fast and frantic, so the music shouldn't be either.
It has nothing to do with being American. It has to do with Sega of America's retarded idea that they had to put their own "touch" on the American releases. That's why the manuals are rewritten as well.
