Sorry it took me so long to see your video...oddly enough, it didn't show up on my list until last Friday, and I had drill this past weekend.. Just getting caught up on videos from last week (super busy from getting back from a mini-vacation and getting ready for drill).
Thanks for the video (and the shoutout!!) and glad to see you again!
@Jthmeffy Hey no worries! Supper busy myself and its pretty much impossible to keep up with Ytube these days. Hope that Calabash is smoking well and your keeping warm.
@TheAmericanStranger1 I like two brands, Wislons of Sharrow and Fribourg and Treyer. My favorite snuff right now is Grand Cairo by W of S. Thanks for watching!
Stunning video as usual James - will check out the shoutsz fo sho - and I keep have to remind myself you are in Thailand - for some reason it feels like a house in Basingstoke England - the snuff is interesting as I am getting into that, nice hauls the Capstan & St Bruno are what I get asked for from the US /Canadian bro's on the tube & the forum I am on.
@ADzPipes Sorry for the late reply, I'm on holiday. Interesting how the grass is greener across the pond eh? haha. Capstan & St Bruno are great tobacco's. Keep up the kick ass vid's my man.
"Something's rotten in the Kingdom of Denmark" - that made me laugh quite a bit!
That Dunhill is truly impressive, Sir: what a wonderful way to introduce yourself to the prestigious brand. I believe that Warrior's was the first plug I tried: back then I had little resistance to high nicotine, so it became quite unforgettable for the wrong reasons. I hope you make much of that and all the other great blends you've received!
Thanks for another great video, James. No one does 'em like you do!
@DailyPuffer England..Denmark..only that could come to my mind, haha. Thanks to William on many a great line. Your much too kind Bruno and thank you for coming by, always a treat sir. I wanted to congratulate you (belatedly) on Mr. Rowan showcasing your video on his blog a few weeks ago of your B.Sobranie review. That is high praise indeed! It made me feel proud to be in this community and proud to call you friend! Well done sir.
Dude.... are you in some sort of competition to get the best (and most likely most expensive) collection here or anywhere?? Some beauties there no doubt. Enjoy the weather HA HA HA! Cheers, Harvey
@hjrosasq Hello Harvey! Luckily the cost of living here in Thailand is very low, or I'd be in the poor house haha. I learned not to pay retail many years ago and keep an eye out for the bargains. lol
Hope you and the family are all good in SK my man, thanks for watching.
Hey James. Your arms are nearly as white as mine were when I lived in Spain. So much for nice weather. Now I'm freezing my bollocks off back in N. Ireland. lol. The apricot snuff is my favourite, but was always embarrassed to mention it as I thought most people rated it as an amateur snuff. Great to see someone else stand up for it. The cleaver you used for opening the box will be great for slicing up the warrior plug nice and thin. Good smokes mate,
@SpainPipe Hello Alan and thanks! Yeah, I do what the Thais do and leave the sun for the tourists! lol. Actually my skin just burns and freckles up. Hope its not to bad in N. Ireland, I'd imagine wet and cold but hopefully spring will be there soon. Today was is actually a bit cooler here. Its been raining all night and day. Gawithw's Apricot is a lovely snuff. I often take it out and about because the dispenser is so handy. That cleaver is an excellent idea mate! lol....seriously!
Dang steller tobacco's in the packages mang! Love that lil Dunhill too he's a lucky boy! Man 100% humidity that's sick lol I did not see one Gecko in this one must have been to humid for them even. Your living the life James you got some fine tobacco's bro! And some sweet ass pipes to smoke em in. I think you may have slipped on the intro though lol sweet smokes mang!
@OneManSmoke Man, I'm chuffed to bits with this Dunhill Lovat Salam! One of my best smokers fo sho. Haha, definitely f'd that intro up! I swear I changed it in iMovie. I even pulled it right down from YTube and re did it! I now realized I forgot to re-export it again, uploaded the same damn file and went to bed. I tried to doctor a bit in a bit in Ytube but I can't figure any of that shit out, they've changed it again! Horrible interface anyway. Thanks bro and see ya soon suhn!
@kirkkeener32 Thank you very much! Hang in there and keep posting and you'll be at 300 before you know it man! Hopefully I'll be free to make a vid on IPSD. I managed to get one in last year that was fun to do.
@ThePipePurist Hello good sir! I think between yours and Bruno's advice it sounds like this Warrior Plug has a bit of a nic kick to it? I've decided to go with a small bowl. The Dunnie is nice and a big boy! haha Not for clenching but its truly one of my best smokers for English blends. I've managed to get some Samuel Gawith Full Virginia in the plug. Can't wait to give that a try. Always a pleasure when you drop by HaJo.
@beans316 Haha, thanks for the kind words Beans! Oh, the humidity! Usually pretty humid all year, Its just this time of year should be much less humidity and slightly cool. Looks like it may skip this year...damn!! lol
Did you say you take snuff *while* smoking a pipe? Whoa. 500 subscribers? Whoa. Thanks for the Horace Silver and the Ellington, you're a swell guy yourself.
@OTooleRules Haha, yes. I do sometimes take a pinch of snuff while smoking a pipe! Not always, but some blends work together pretty well. Thanks for the kind words and always glad when you stop by Dan.
Wow. You've got yourself loads of cool stuff there. The big Dunhill Lovat is great. I've got a box of the Gawith Apricot snuff, it is good stuff. I'm not too fond of high does of menthol in my snuff either, but this is really nice.
Look forward to hearing what you think of the Big Coin. That stuff sounds interesting.
@petevernon Yes, I think they did find the right amount of menthol for the Apricot Snuff. Not over the top at all. The Big Coin is suppose to be similar to Escudo (also in medallion form.) Davidoff's Flake Medallion is also similar I hear (which I have and really like!) Thanks for watching and stopping by Pete!
@SimonLeduc77 Its very humid here right now, which is most of the year but this time of year is suppose to be the cool season! Never mind I have air condition in my office and can smoke here no problem. Hope its all good in Quebec friend.
Aloha James! You are the pipe-KING on youtube. Beautiful Dunhill and Stanwell pipes. I'm been looking out for Dunhill for a while now and can't seem to land a 1985 anything (my birthdate). I'm loading up on a few pipes myself. I got a smooth straight billiard with mammoth ivory coming in from Stephen Downie, a blasted silver ringed bent billiard from Brian Ruthenberg, and a Ernie Markle blasted straight billiard silver banded made with Gracik in his garage. Can't wait to see you next vid
@Keliiyamashita Sawadee Kup to you Keli and Thanks! Been wondering about you and that pipe rack we last talked about! An '85? Damn, I think you can just call me Pop's from now on, LOL! I love my Dunnies for everyday smoking (Mostly English) Downie, Ruthenberg, Markle/Gracik....!!! Holy shit man, your rollin' in the high grades!lol All on my list! lol I have a Migurs Knets 3/3 Star smooth on the way and just scored an Geiger estate (like new) Glad you stopped by bradda!
I've heard from a couple of tobacco manufacturers and pipe makers here in the UK, that China is becoming a big market for them. Looks like pipe smoking is really taking off there.
Nice baccys, I will have to borrow some of Neil's Warrior plug next time I see him.
@dohngl That's true Dean, I've spoken with some American pipe dealers directly and had a great conversation about it. Basically new money trying to make an impression. It has driven the high end pipe market up quite substantially as they'll pay almost anything for something they want. Some of the high end websites have an option for clicking Chinese now as well. I was floored at the prices I saw Dunhills in Singapore! well over 200 percent of what I'd see online, just crazy.
@41DegreesSouth I'm diggin' the D-Lov Mate! lol Its got to be my best smoker. Hope its all good in Kiwi land, I guess its the summer time for you folks eh?
Would love to hear your thoughts on Warrior. That lovat is beautiful! Haddo's is interesting, there's a fruitiness that seems to travel with all Pease's and C&D perique blends, I can taste it in Blackpoint and in Epiphany, for example. I assume it is the perique, but nobody else's tastes like that.
@harjoeric Thank you. Looking forward to trying that Warrior Plug. Been eying it all day and trying to figure the bag note all day. Yet to figure which pipe, thinking a small bowl. I'll try for a vid for the second bowl. Won't be as articulate as you or Bruno but I'll be able to know if I'd buy more lol. The Haddo's is good enough for a pass and and nice between the Va's and English's for a change. Its the first Vaper based Pease blend I've tried. Nice to know theres that theme with them.
Hey James, Thanks for the shoutout. I didn't realize you were from Texas too! 88F and 100% humidity, that's not too far off the summers here in HK. That's brutal bro. Another great video, and another sweet pipe. Peace!
@FlipSideSmoker Thanks for the kind words my man. Always cool to see another Texan on here in the community. Yeah, BKK is pretty much the arm pit of Asia LOL. Kind of what I think of Houston is for TX but on a much grander level. Usually this time of year the humidity isn't bad and the nights are cool but hasn't happened this year. April starts the rainy season so its been like one loooong summer. I'd take that weather in HK in a heart beat! Keep up the great vid's.
Great vid James, I gave haddos a shot and didnt like it and I just cant say why that is..very nice Dunnie you got there I like the larger size dunhills. Just gettin into the snuffs at the moment and I hear good stuff about that Apricot snuff. I am enjoying the McCrystals O+G Great trades you got goin on.
@Daftlilly1 Thanks man! I give the Haddo's a pass, probably because it surprised me and the tin note was appealing enough. Not the top baccy I'd recommend but different enough to keep in the rotation. Cool to hear your getting into snuff. Good thing its pretty cheap to check out a few blends and certainly gives new meaning to brown nosing Hahaha. Glad you stopped by.
@dagnerperformance Man, this is probably my best smoking pipe and the one that sold me on Dunhill's. Proof was in the pudding or the smoke so to speak, lol. Glad to see you make the move up to the Dunny's to Jayson, I think your gonna dig them too. That Dragon is da shit mang! lol
Ah, finally opened it! I hope you'll enjoy the stuff. I'm sure you will find the Big Coin interesting. Don't worry about popping the tin - the lid is awesome and will keep the baccy fresh for a long, long time. I have a MOB tobacco that I bought two/three years ago and sometimes smoke a bowl from, and it's still perfectly moist. As long as the lid is closed tight! Keep it for future use!
Anyway, hope you're good in hot Thailand. We'll be leaving for London on February 2nd,
@Pipepoet Haha, finally got some time for a vid! Thanks again Arko. It was a pleasure to make an exchange with you. You answered my question right off that bat! About the MOB lids. NIce to know they're sealed up good! I'm pretty sure I'm going to dig the Big Coin blend and interesting about the Escudo not being available in DK. Really appreciate the pipe cloth and the cleaner pouch is going to be very handy traveling to the beach next weekend. Gotta cool down lol
The Dunhill looks like a swimsuit supermodel, astonishing. Good to know you'll not be out of the european blends for some more time. I'm looking for mini bottles of ginginha (which I'm not sure if are produced) and will certainly send you a couple if I can find it.
@RequiemPipes Haha, I didn't think of this chunky Dunhill as being so sexy! But she's a hell of a good smoker and thank you for the kind words. The tin note with this Haddo's Delight to me certainly has an element of chocolate and cherries (Not overpowering, just subtle enough to know its there) which I failed to mention. So it very well could be the ginginha. If you ever do come a across a little bottle let me know! : ) Always a pleasure to hear from you Gustavo.
Haddos Delight was always mentioned as the tobacco to get when I first got on the internet...never tried it LOL. A big congrats on your subs, many more to come for sure!
@Matches860 Thanks John! The Haddo's Delight is a decent smoke for sure. Its not the highest on my list, but I guess its just fun trying new tobaccos. I was a bit surprised my the tin note which I found really pleasant. Hope its all good in your neck of the woods.
@herrflick99 Hello Neil! Thanks so much for the trade. The Warriors plug is most intriguing. I've been just smelling it on and off today in the bag. Have to figure out which pipe will get the honors. The St. Bruno's is well appreciated and will sit until my "Smoking 'S'kills are up to snuff! Haha
What-oh James, Love the t-shirt.. The Mighty Jens has the old shell Dunhill Lovat.. After of course Fraser of Lovat.. Army man perfect for the active man.. I take a Lovat out with me and the old dog.. GC truly a 'Grand' snuff.. Throughout the meeting I had to go to tonight I was enjoying it. I looked at that packet and thought to myself my god that got there quick I haven't even sent it yet.. Old PP saw you right.. Ta ta from Olde Englande Pipe Vobiscum, Tim
@Milverton68 Thank you Tim. I saw that vid a while back with Jens and his Dunhill Lovat! Didn't know it the shape was named after this Scottish fellow. Very interesting and thanks for the info. Wonderful how accommodating snuff can be in such an anti-smoking public. A packet from South Hampton would be most welcomed! haha. Hope you and Nico are well and Pipe Vobiscum to you sir! (Google can do wonders, lol)
@MrSmokeGuy Haha, yes the Sixten Ivarsson Stanwell! I've been smoking a lot of this Haddo's delight in it actually. Very good smoker and well impressed. Will make an appearance soon I hope. Thanks for watching.
@hampshirepipe Haha, I do love that lovat! Your correct, Arko mentioned it in his letter, that case by MOB is for carrying pipe cleaners. Really cool! Hope its all good in England.
@thvisualstenographer Hello Aje, I think you'll dig the Capstan, (Dunhill Flake is really similar). I'm planning on getting some age on the tins I have. I have 3 Stanwells and two are really good smokers. (the one in this vid being one) The so so one is a church warden that gets really hot. I recommend one with thick walls if you get one. Thanks for watching!
Hey James that is one sweet looking Dunhill, and i finished high school in 87 to.Nice,Arko sent you some Big Coin.He turned me on to that about two years ago, great stuff.
@Pipescratch 87 was a great year! haha. Arko's the man! Yeah, I'm looking forward to trying that Big Coin out, I've been smoking quite a bit of different medallions lately and really dig the whole VaPer thing. You guys are so lucky to be in a town with excellent tobacconists! Thanks for watching Marc.
Great to see you back James - was thrilled to see the notification that you had uploaded a video. I'm going to have to get my hands on some St. Bruno - I hear a lot of talk about it these days - sounds nice. Always enjoy your vids. Cheers!
@MojoMilt Thank you Frank, I didn't know you had videos up! I just sub'd you.
I really like St Bruno's. Seem's like its not a blend for everyone but if you can manage a trade with one of the boy's in the U.K. that would be great! Make sure its the Flake and not the ready rub. Glad you stopped by.
I can never get tired of seeing different pipes.
1987? I was only 2! :-p

Daftlilly1 1 month ago
@Daftlilly1 Thanks man! I give the Haddo's a pass, probably because it surprised me and the tin note was appealing enough. Not the top baccy I'd recommend but different enough to keep in the rotation. Cool to hear your getting into snuff. Good thing its pretty cheap to check out a few blends and certainly gives new meaning to brown nosing Hahaha. Glad you stopped by.
Cheers,
James

dagnerperformance 1 month ago
@dagnerperformance Man, this is probably my best smoking pipe and the one that sold me on Dunhill's. Proof was in the pudding or the smoke so to speak, lol. Glad to see you make the move up to the Dunny's to Jayson, I think your gonna dig them too. That Dragon is da shit mang! lol
Cheers,
James
astroman2112 1 month ago
Ah, finally opened it! I hope you'll enjoy the stuff. I'm sure you will find the Big Coin interesting. Don't worry about popping the tin - the lid is awesome and will keep the baccy fresh for a long, long time. I have a MOB tobacco that I bought two/three years ago and sometimes smoke a bowl from, and it's still perfectly moist. As long as the lid is closed tight! Keep it for future use!
Anyway, hope you're good in hot Thailand. We'll be leaving for London on February 2nd,
Best thoughts.
Pipepoet 1 month ago
@Pipepoet Haha, finally got some time for a vid! Thanks again Arko. It was a pleasure to make an exchange with you. You answered my question right off that bat! About the MOB lids. NIce to know they're sealed up good! I'm pretty sure I'm going to dig the Big Coin blend and interesting about the Escudo not being available in DK. Really appreciate the pipe cloth and the cleaner pouch is going to be very handy traveling to the beach next weekend. Gotta cool down lol
Cheers buddy.

The Dunhill looks like a swimsuit supermodel, astonishing. Good to know you'll not be out of the european blends for some more time. I'm looking for mini bottles of ginginha (which I'm not sure if are produced) and will certainly send you a couple if I can find it.

RequiemPipes 1 month ago
@RequiemPipes Haha, I didn't think of this chunky Dunhill as being so sexy! But she's a hell of a good smoker and thank you for the kind words. The tin note with this Haddo's Delight to me certainly has an element of chocolate and cherries (Not overpowering, just subtle enough to know its there) which I failed to mention. So it very well could be the ginginha. If you ever do come a across a little bottle let me know! : ) Always a pleasure to hear from you Gustavo.

James

Haddos Delight was always mentioned as the tobacco to get when I first got on the internet...never tried it LOL. A big congrats on your subs, many more to come for sure!
Matches860 1 month ago

Milverton68 1 month ago
@Milverton68 Thank you Tim. I saw that vid a while back with Jens and his Dunhill Lovat! Didn't know it the shape was named after this Scottish fellow. Very interesting and thanks for the info. Wonderful how accommodating snuff can be in such an anti-smoking public. A packet from South Hampton would be most welcomed! haha. Hope you and Nico are well and Pipe Vobiscum to you sir! (Google can do wonders, lol)

Really nice Dunhill. Haven't tried the Capstan yet but got some from Rolf. How do you like the Sanwell; I've been thinking of getting one?
thvisualstenographer 1 month ago
@thvisualstenographer Hello Aje, I think you'll dig the Capstan, (Dunhill Flake is really similar). I'm planning on getting some age on the tins I have. I have 3 Stanwells and two are really good smokers. (the one in this vid being one) The so so one is a church warden that gets really hot. I recommend one with thick walls if you get one. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, I'm looking forward to trying that Big Coin out, I've been smoking quite a bit of different medallions lately and really dig the whole VaPer thing.
