I'm about to learn how to play the violin this fall quarter at my school, so I was wondering, what is the learning curve on a violin like for someone who already knows how to play several other instruments? (I've been playing piano for about 16 years now... and some guitar here and there)

I already know how difficult it is to play in tune and stuff, since I've tried it out while browsing music stores. I don't expect to be anywhere near your level any time soon... LOL!

@MoshiMoxx I know i'm not eric but i know stuff about violin. It depends on how long your arms are. Although you are probably a full size (4/4), it all depends. I recommend to find a music store that lets you rent and instument before you buy it. Some instruments can cost thousands of dollars (for example mine is 3500). If you become serious about it then you should consider buying an instument.(remember learning to play takes time.) Good luck! Hope you enjoy the violin!

you should get a mark wood viper electric violin! i have one, they are pretty sweet, mine has 6 strings and frets :D also you could just get a pickup for your violin and plug right into an amp for more sound...
