  • i just purchase a sks today ans a tapco intrafuse stock system and when i put it back together i use my old operation rod,it didnt come with my kit so i used the old one i that a problem or it doesnt really matter thank's

  • @Ivan......dude u win! I know who needs to Change the stock??

  • If you werent so stupid, espescially u gabe, you would kno that, that was a Chinese Norinco.....get a brain bitch

  • It should be a crime moding antique soviet weapons

  • WHAT IN THE FUCK IS DONE TO POOR RIFLE? STUPID HICK AMERICAN WITH TEN GALLON HAT AND GIANT PICK UP TRUCK LOOKS AT PERFECTLY FINE SIMONOV KARBIN AND SAYS "NO, RIFLE NEED MORE DUMB SHIT ON IT" WHAT IS REASON FOR PISTOL GRIP? IF YOU NEED TO FIRE FROM HIP IN EMERGENCY, NOW HAND IS TWISTED INTO PAINFUL ANGLE AND YOU MISS EVERY ENEMY! LOOK AT CHEAP PLASTIC MAGAZINE THAT FEEDS CARTRIDGE LIKE CONSTANTLY JAMMING PEZ CANDY BOX! RIFLE WAS FINE BEFORE YOU FUCK IT. NOW IS TRASH.

  • @IvanChesnokov1 Chill out comrade Ivan. This is America. We can do stupid shit here legally and for no damn reason at all other than we want to. It doesn't have to make sense man. Try it. You may like it.

  • It was about 80 bucks, NOT including the gas tube kit, that's about another 60 bucks.

  • Yes, it does come in black, as I've got mine in black. Check out Bass Pro Shops for the kit.

  • how much did the kit you have cost and does it come in black?

  • Did you buy a gas tube so you didnt have to modify the orignal one?

  • hey sootch, new subscriber here! :)

just curious. how does your sks fire(accuracy wise) with your new tapco stock?

i was also curious to know if it can still be field stripped without tools? it looks like the handle blocks the "field strip detent" behind the trigger assembly...

my regards to you photographer, "kodiak" friend. his bag alterations are great! ;)

thanks for the great videos. :D

  • I ordered an ATI Strikeforce for my Russian SK.. and it turns out to be the biggest fucking waste of money.. Shit doesnt fit or anything.. Totally returning this bullshit. Anything that fits nice on a Russian SK without any problems?>

  • What did you do with that stock. I would like to buy your wooden stock sir.

  • too bad Tapco doesnt tell you will have to grind on the dang gastube to get it to fit back in right. But thatll just make you spend more money on thier products which in my opinion are just ok.i even had to modify a 30 rd magazine to fit in the well right. So look twice before you buy from tapco there are other stock manufacturers out there and they are better

  • Thanks Sootch. Just bought mine today and am about to install it. Also, bought a reciever cover tri rail off Amazon that fitted perfectly first try. Hope this install goes as well. Thank you for the great vids.

  • Thankyou... Great video. I have had the stock for awhile but hesitated installing it because of the stories I've heard about removing the pin from the gas tube. To my surprise the thing came out really easy. Not the usual outcome for me...

  • Thank You!!!!!

  • I just got my Tapco stock for Christmas and this video made the installation easy. Thanks alot!

  • yup backward recoil spring

  • i just bought this stock, looks amazing. only problem is i cant take mine off safe, it gets half way off and wont budge, some kind of clerance issue. any ideas why?

  • You put the recoil spring in backwards it says in the sks manual to put the the other end in first

  • Thanks MAN!! I just ordered the same kit, but with the Weaver cap scope mount with scope and the front handle the goes under the gas tube, Also comes with 2- 30 round magazines and a rail on the gas tube mount for a light or a laser. Guess I'll figure out how much of a bear it is to install the Tapco gas tube furniture! LOL!! Thanks for the vid!

I'm sure I'll be looking at it a lot as I assemble my SKS

  • Im guessing the fixed magazine is compatable with the tapco stock, correct?

  • Great video man...

  • Isn't the recoil spring supposed to go back in kinked end first. That's how mine came when packed in grease.

  • @jntroisi

Ayuh...He has the spring in backwards...

C-Clip to the front (wavy end), inside the bolt carrier...

  • Sootch - great video - question will the kit work with a yugo 59/66 sks?

  • Question: Can the rail on top of the gas tube cover be removed or is is part of the mold? I like the Tapco stocks, but I don't want or need a rail way up front.

  • mine never came with the tapco operating rod. I bought the stock system with the bottom rail, so using the original operating rod onto the tapco stock system will that work just the same?

  • can you keep the attached magazine that comes with the sks to the tapco stock? because in canada we can buy the stocks from certain dealers which are about 120$ but the mags cost so much. its like 60$ per mag.

  • do you smell like cigars and pollo calogne ????

  • Thanks a bunch for making this vid!

Do you know if this Tapco setup will work on a Chinese Norinco??

  • Are the standard iron sights still useable with the new handguard?

  • Mr.Soothch00

I really like your Tapco stock. You said the stock came with the magazine too, right? Is that 10 or 20 rounds?

    - Do you still have the box? What is the Stock# or SKU# , there are few colors different and I got Russian with Blade bayonet, would be nice to have the same what you got because the sale man confuse me about Chinese model, Romania model, North VN and North Korea model, Yugoslavia model??

    - Please help me on that Infos? thank you very much. Nice video!

  • Thanks for educating me on this fine weapon that, admittedly, I must learn a lot more about having one (Yugo). My example has the grenade launcher and for my needs, this is useless. The real issue is, that I can't get the button that directs gas to the launcher to go the other direction, so that this gun shoots semi-auto. Therefore, my gun is like any other single shot bolt action rifle, where I must pull the bolt back between shots.

  • The gas tube pin removal is too much for me....even with assorted verbal coaxing that has been proven to work on gas grill assembly. Buy the gas tube, that's one move you won't regret. Everything else is quite easy to accomplish. Nice presentation on the video.

  • what ever u do ...DO NOT try to get the pin out of the gas tube i tried it n it doesnt work just buy another gas tube ..... just a fair warning

  • I put this stock on my norinco sks, it took about 3 times aslong as this video...

  • Your recoil spring was in backwards

  • @abuscx i thought the same thing

  • Just so you know, I am looking at SKS's because I just have to have one. I came to your and Nutnfancy's channels for info on these. I thank you guys for the time you put into your channels.

  • Im new to the whole tapco thing i have a yugo sks and was just wondering what the complete list of things i would have to buy to make it into a more modernized weapon.

  • i'm having trouble making the gastube fit, it's like the tube isn't big enough to fit onto the front of the rifle, and i was never able to get the original handguard off the gastube do u have any tricks to get it off? i'm thinkin of just goin to a gunsmith

  • Great video. It has shown me that this will be my next project.

  • Sootch! Awesome video.

  • 11:26 Transcribe audio WTF???

  • I know this is immature, but the sexual inuindows in this video are priceless

  • I just got this stock and I can not get the trigger housing back in when it is off safe, but when I put it in with the safety on, it goes in, and then when I try to pull the safety off, the whole assembly pops off.

  • What is that color call??

  • I don't comment much but you did such a good job, I thought I would make the effort. Thanks for posting!

  • does Tapco make the compliance kits with the railed stocks, jw. i cant find if they do and i want one so i can put a forgrip on my yugo sks. But excellent vid btw.

  • sootch00 i called tapco and they said they only sell to dealers...

  • Excellent Video man, thanks alot

  • where did you order yours from? everyone is out of stock. AWESOME video btw:)

  • When you order the tapco stock does the new gas tube come with it or does the tube come with the compliance kit?

  • Can't you just leave your old gas tube and hand guard on?

  • great video!!! thanks for the info. this video sold me and i am now ordering the same set up

  • can you show how you grind down the new gas tube in order to make it fit correctly?

  • GREAT video! Thanks for such a detailed instructional process, I watched it and used it as a live guide as I installed my Intrafuse unit. Thanks a bunch!

  • do you know if the stock will take ar15 buttstocks. i would like to put the moe butt stock on it if i get it. but dont wanna get it if it cant take ar15 buttstocks.

  • where can u buy one

  • Excellent video, convinced me to get the product.

Where did you get the gas tube that you don't have to fool around with the pins on?

  • does anyone know how i might go about removing my bayonet from my sks? it makes the weapon so front heavy and doesn't allow me to add a much needed bi-pod.

  • i had to use a dremal to sand out some parts of the stock and a i had to do some MAJOR modifications on the tapco 2o round magazine. i was filing for at least 1 hour.

  • thank you so much for giving smart and imformative videos. these are the first that i have seen that haven't confused me at all

  • Sootch00

I had a Russian SKS like yours too

What is the SKU (stock#) when you order T-6 from Tapco ? - I like to order same color and same stock like yours, that is the reasons I asked Thank you for INFOS. That is an excellent video, step by step so clearly and easy to understand, very helful!, again Thank you for Video.

  • And now the rifle looks as a cheap Chinese toy. Excellent work!

  • hey sooch00,

i got the stock with the tactical rail on the bottom and i also purchased a vertical fore-grip. i was wondering how i would go about taking off the bayonet?

    any help please?

    thanks,

    comrademosin,

  • but do you have to put the pistol grip on

  • @bboni4 There are different kits. Some with, some without pistol grips.

  • 5***** Nice vids.... im about to buy my first rifle i first wanted an AK but i live in Commifornia and i dont like the ones i can own.... so now im thinking about getting an sks and these tapco kits me me want one more hahaha so anyways nice vids great info im gonna watch your 922r compliance video next... oh and if i buy a preban rifle i can own it in CA??

  • I prefere the origonal stock but this seems to be pretty neat.

  • Great video man!

  • wat is the best sks to get?

  • Sir, thank you for this video. It was very helpful to me. I got my new Tapco stock installed with my sks now thanks to you.

  • Will the internal 10 round magazine fit on this new stock?

I live in Canada so the only magazine I have is the stock 10rounder that is tapped to hold 5.

  • @Ben546 same here. i think amazon wll sell the tapco mags to canadians but im not sure (that 5 round law is shit)

  • Good job on the video...someone already told you about the recoil spring...keep 'em coming.

  • hey do any of u guys know how to convert sks to take ak magazines

  • I just wondered which way is right. Would it work okay backwards? I only mention something in the "good faith" of gun safety. Because obviously one way is right and one is wrong. If later I found out that it was wrong and I didn't say something I wouldn't forgive myself. So, I hope you don't take it the wrong way and hopefully we can figure out for sure which is the right way. Btw, you are right on with Tapco. Good stuff.

  • Sootch, I like your videos and I don't want to offend you. But, I think their might be a mistake at the 12:03 minute mark. When you are talking about the recoil spring and you say "put the straight end first." This struck me as odd when I looked at my russian sks. I got to searching online and on youtube. Everyone else is putting the straight end in the back and the wrinkled end in the bolt. Either this is right or wrong and I dunno if someone could suffer an injury from it the wrong way or not.

  • @shootingsportspro I was mistaken. It goes in the other way and to be honest, I knew it but the camera does funny things to your brain. I will annotate it. BTW, I welcome critisim or other view points. That's what keeps me on the right road, so no apology needed my friend. Thanks!

  • @sootch00 can i do this to a yugo sks?

  • sootch, After I put tapco stock on I can not put safety off. Can you tell me why it is not woring.

  • If i had an army i would use this rifle and with the kit great video

  • very good video

  • Excellent video, only one i could find on here that showed the stock replacement.

  • great vid, thanks alot!

  • Very cool vid, sootch. But I'm kind of torn between bringing my SKS into the 21st century, or keeping it as the good ol' familiar woody. But at least now I have a choice!

    Thanks sootch.

  • Hey Sootch, does it really matter what end of the spring goes in first? You say to put the straight end into the receiver, and in another video they say to put the crooked end into the receiver. Having just bought an SKS and taken it down and cleaned it. I am confused and don't want to mess anything up.

    Thanks!

  • hey i think u have your spring reversed

  • I was taught to put the end of the spring that is bunched up into the bolt. Is there a reason for putting it in the way you did, or does it really matter?

  • watched the video, over and over, bought the kit, and in less than 30 minutes it

was finished and trying it out. thank you for your help and video. also thanks for informing me of the 922r.

  • @ninja5672 they are very reliable, unlike promag.

  • thats a pretty significant change in the feeding mechanism. i wonder how reliable those mags are...

  • thanks!

  • Well, you made that look very simple, sootch. I like this very much. I'll be using it as a tutor (start, stop, try; start, stop, try, etc). Nicely done, friend!

  • anyone done this conversion with a yugo sks?

  • i wish i would of bought a russian sks when they were cheap

  • I want to ask you what do you think about the Tapco folding stock. I bought one for my AK 47 and it just seemed like there was to much play between the stock and the rifle.

  • i have a sks with a tapco stock but mines black

  • @TheSalamanderman Lol! That's right. I was so busy breaking down the rifle that I didn't think about it until you mentioned it. I annotated it on the video. Thanks!

  • hey, I'm up to the step at 9:30 when you're putting back the trigger mechanism. I've tried for an hour to push that thing back into the stock, on a hard surface but it isn't clicking at all. Any idea why it won't click into place?

  • @damnitchloeagain2 You don't weigh enough...lol....just push harder it can be very hard sometimes.

  • @damnitchloeagain2 It should click into place if enough pressure is applied. You may try using something to push the locking piece forward while pushing down on the trigger housing. Good luck~

  • An another way to remove your receiver cover and gas tube for general cleaning is to use the little military cleaning kit container that comes with your rifle. Simply use that small thin slit on the lower side of the little metal container as a lever - it fits right over those metal locking tabs that keeps dust / receiver cover & gas tube in place. Same goes for the AK.

  • Hey i have a norinco sks and i CANNOT! remove the trigger group. i have the safety on and everything. but i just cant remove it. i have put probably over 100 pounds of pressure on it. and it hasnt budged...... what could be wrong?

  • @TapRackBoom The piece that fit's into the trigger housing is the Trigger Guard Latch and it comes straight down from the receiver and locks into the trigger housing. It acts as a spring, holding the back of the housing in place. Pushing it forward with the Safety in the up position allows you to unlatch it.

  • @sootch00 Thats my problem, it doesnt move at all. iv bent 2 of my good punches trying to press it. do you think its broken? the weapon it self works fine, but i want to get the cosmelene out of the trigger system. so i need to get it out... What do you think it is?

  • @sootch00 stock when on fine but the trigger assembly and gas tube wont fo in all the way the gastube lever wont go down

  • @sootch00 P.S im using the orginal gastube

  • @sootch00 i'm still not clear on what you mean about this.. how should i go about removing the trigger... i have a norico and i am still having trouble

  • @TapRackBoom dont buy Norinco problem solved

  • @sbsk8 norinco is a great company for the price. i love my lil' sks. its great quality. and perfect chroming. i just dont understand why its not working. it will go back, but i need alot of force upon it. i dont know what is wrong... ill fiddle around with it when i get it removed next time. to see if there is anything blocking it. mabye the synthetic stock is blocking it...

  • @TapRackBoom I just put a Ramline stock on my Norinco and had the same problem with the trigger group being a bit too hard to remove, I had to really put alot of pressure on it to get it to "pop" loose. When I reassembled it it took alot of pressure and I had to use my right hand to pull the keeper for the trigger group back into place. Never had that problem with a Yugo though. just saying, you're not alone haha

  • @TapRackBoom Saftey on and cock the rifle, the hammer has to be in the ready position.

  • @maximcan69 Thank you for the reply (i am still having this issue) but that doesnt seem to work... It is practically brand new, but the owner before me left it out in a barn and it got a bit of surface rust on the barrel. im wondering if the spring for the trigger release got rusted at all impeding movement...

  • Lol, great ending.

  • great video! I would have liked to see you shooting that bad boy a little at the end

    Regards from New York

  • One other thing I forgot to mention, I have the tapco magazine on my SKS, and after about 500 rounds, the feed lips started to form hairline cracks where they met the body of the magazine. It still functions fine as of right now, but just something to keep an eye out for!

  • @uncleben03 Tapco has a lifetime warranty on their stuff. You can get in touch with them and tell them what's happening. Good Luck~

  • Hey sootch! Another GREAT video. Just a heads up though, the recoil spring goes the other day, with the "swirly" part inside the bolt, and the straight park under the receiver cover.

  • Another excellent well detailed video.

    Thanks

    Friz

  • Awesome video Sootch. Very fun...and informative....

Did you get the yard invader?

  • im a fan of the wood myself.

  • I did this kit for mine. Turned out pretty cool. Did have to buy the gas tube assembly due to the fact that my original hand guard retaining pin was pressed in. No way was that coming out. I'm at 9 parts on mine.

  • awsome video. I love this video. keep up the good work long live the republic.

  • Another Masterful Demonstration!

    ✭✭✭✭✭

  • You + me + hordes of zombies = lots of bloody fun! =D

  • lol looks like you made an aow/sbr on video. might want to have put the stock on first. but eh, who cares right?

  • Sootch,

Great video! I love how detailed and, "sensable" this is. I will be updating an SKS for a friend and will definately be using this as a guide.

Might you be able to squeeze in a similar video for the AR 15 for functioning and upgrading purposes? I'm tuned in my friend, and looking forward to more great videos from you.

    -N

  • Sootch, I read you were looking for a scope mount. Choate makes a good one but I really like the idea that someone did to theirs using a Weaver Convert-a-Mount, I believe he used the set that was for a Rem 870 with "see under" mount. Gonna go this route with mine.

Just for curiousity, why would you want to convert that fine Russian? I'd do a Yugo or a Norinco conversion and keep the Russian pristine.

  • Nice job, Sootch. You made it look easy.

  • looked like you cut the vid a little short at 7:00 did you get the pins out or what

  • @stompySharpNpointy No, I replaced the gas tube wih one that had the Handguard assembled. It's not fun.... I like "fun gun" reviews! Lol!

  • @sootch00 Just going to say I have put on a good many aftermarket hand guards for people and you don't have to knock out the pin. Simply get a big flat tip and knock the top side of it and it will rotate down with out hardly any trouble. It will act like a hinge... :) Good luck with it.

  • @olchevyman Thanks Bro~ Now that you mention it, I had heard that before. Does it damage the original handguard? I appreciate the info my friend.

  • @sootch00 Sometimes yes, sometimes no. But even at the worst it only nicks/dents the gas tube cover, but only minimally. Its an sks, Its not a show rifle, They come with scratches and dings before you even get them, Oh and they make great Deer rifles, my personal one has taken 20+ deer over the last 8 or so years, all stock nothing done to it.

  • always urge ppl to keep their parts that came with it originaly, especialy with a russian.

  • hey what do you think about those folding stocks for the ak47s by tapco? a guy told me they were pieces of stool but i kinda want to buy one but i dont want it to break

  • Never heard of the "Simonov Thumb".

Is that less painful than a Garand Thumb?

LOL nice review. I always wondered how to take down a Simonov.

  • thanks dude, this is going to help a lot!

  • great job on that rifle...looks good...

  • Nice vid sootch!! Keep up the good work! I'm diggin' the OD on the stock!

  • Great vid, Sootch. I was wondering, the bayonet isn't sharp, is it? You wrapped your fingers around it a couple of times like it was a piece of wood. My only experience with bayonets was in basic training - those things were SHARP! Is that because the bayonet is original and hence has not been sharpened for years or is the dullness deliberate?

  • @signalrambo None of the SKS bayonets are sharp,.I'll have to investigate to see if they did any sharpening after issue. I personally think they'd still do their intented purpose if used. Thanks for bringing that up.

  • @signalrambo nah dude, the bayonet is really really dull on both ends

  • @signalrambo - the Bayonet on the SKS is only sharp on the side that is facing down, when a Bayonet is Extended. Sincerely- Brownnz.

  • hey Sootch, what is the weight diference compared to the wooden stocks

  • @Pants447 It's only slightly less weight. I thought it might lessen it, but overall the same.

  • @sootch00 How much is it compared to a standard ar-15 platform?

  • That song is hella annoying... :( other than that its good to see how this stuff all fits together. The SKS is on my short list...

  • The wooden stocks on all the SKS's I owned/shot were much too short for the average North American, the Tapco extended stock makes the rifle much easier to handle and shoot. Do yourself a huge favour and buy the replacement gas tube assembly, like sootch00 said, removing the factory one is a MAJOR pain in the azz.

  • This is just my opinion but I can't stand the way those tapco stocks look, just not my cup of tea I love the wood you had on the sks originally

  • My friend has this stock on his SKS that was modified to take AK mags. It works well, is light and sturdy. BUT because it's all light plastic, the whole weapon is very front heavy. And the front of the handguard gets really hot very quickly, after less than 30 rounds. I haven't shot it enough to give a like or dislike, but just some things to think about

  • The rail on the top of gas tube is useless - it is an obstacle for aiming esp. in the dark

TAPCO made a great stock (i'm glad to have it) but it takes too much tools to replace original stock (esp. pistol grip - why they use wood screw ? !) - it looks like perversion of the idea of simplicity of the soviet infantry weapon which you can disassemble with screwdriver only )))

  • @scootch00 Have you ever installed one of the SKS Scout Scopes rear site scope rails? I've seen great reviews on them, but would love to see a video as thoroughly done as yours on it. I could find one when searching through your vids...

  • @UrbanCombatSurvivor I haven't mounted a Long eye relief scope or Scout sight on an SKS. I've shot a couple that had them and it works well. I'm planning on picking up a receiver cover "Welded" mount sometime. I shot one last Thursday and it was very accurate.

  • @sootch00 I haven't used any of the scope setups, but was considering it until I read a bunch of reviews on it. The replacement for the rear site by scout scopes is the only one I've seen with decent reviews that doesn't require me to modify my SKS permanently.

I suppose one of the welded receiver cover mounts could be easily changed on and off though, I'll take another look at them. Thanks for the reply

  • It just seems so horrible to take a beautiful rifle like that and put a bunch of plastic parts on it...

Thanks for the compliance vids, man.

  • It looks AMAZING

  • LIES nothing good comes from Ga...

  • @vampire847 Tapco makes great USA made products. Hey, My grandmother was from Georgia. Lol!

  • @sootch00 Nah! your grandmother is too good to have come from ga... just like tapco! Tapco is based in ohio>.> so shhhhhhh

  • Hey Sootch: I tried a 3/8ths on my Tapco AK SAW grip but I think it was a size too small. Should that be the case, or are they all supposed to be the same size?

  • that tapco is going to break on you when you need it most.

  • @cupcupculpable There are Two answers to that statement, Either you got some bad information, or you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @Kylef7735 well, your wrong because you forgot the third option: my experience with the product has been negative.

  • @cupcupculpable Which product and how did you use it?
