  • I just about lost it at 1:25. I came here because I did not want to toss a single CD-R into my trashcan. I am disgusted at the amount of illegal dumping taking place here.

  • I love the level of consciusness brought to attention in these documentaries;

like WTFFF are you guys gonna do about the million DVD's that will eventually become e-waste ?????

Its all about the fucking money isnt it?

  • Excuse the mess, I forgot to pick up...

  • Whether it's digital equipment, Toxic waste or Toxic Emotions,,People dump on someone! When,, In Nature,, there is NO garbage,, No waste,, nature uses everything! Only Disconnected Humans make garbage for profit

  • cool

  • politicians are bribed to take this waste.

  • @hoplite46 ha ha ha you know.... they´re not just bribed, actually i wish if it was just that simple, the real fact is these african presidents won´t be able to help their own people as they will be destroyed by CIA and be replaced by another pawn who will make sure your country continues to grow and grow. its been happening ever since...Africa is where you all get your resources from, so it must be kept poor by all means necessary. ha ha ha... pales, pales, pales... you are the greatest beings.

  • pst#3 with some thought given to how they could be easier to recycle! I'm sure there is some wastes to be disposed of by the plant that"glass to glass" smelts the crt tubes and during my smelters run, but it's the only act we have now! better than what happened to the stuff before we got involved! we've kept a lot out of the landfill,my three kids are involved & love making a difference, and until the government totally takes it over and gives mining only to the rich, a poor family can mine gold

  • post#2. crt monitors that work well.we try to find homes for, usually poorer folks who's flat panel went out. one that don't work, we remove copper yoke&static cable, replace the back and they go to goodwill/dell comp's recycling program along with printers key boards ect. we bank all gold, silver platinum family containing parts, connectors to send to an integrated processor for metal recovery.well aredditor, no,it's not perfect! electronics should be made to be cleaner with (next post)

  • My family scraps out old computers! we keep almost everything out of the landfill. we have kept tons of e-waste from ending up dumped. we would love to have anyone send their container to us in racine, wisconsin instead of sending it overseas. I contact everyone making these videos, you know who is sending it overseas. you can get them to send us a load once in a while! never hear a word back! you hippocrates! you make your $ making videos and don't give a shit about a solution!

  • @artart47 EDUCATE YOURSELF BEFORE THROWING BOMBS IN ONLINE COMMENT THREADS. BAN is at the forefront of this issue globally, working tirelessly on solutions at the local, national, and international level. Take the time to read the description and follow up by going to the BAN website, you might learn something.

  • @lendavis In my opinion, BAN is doing little more than trying touse its agenda to corner the market so that all recyclers have to give them a cut of the action if they want to recycle electronics. Become the "bill gates" of e-scrap recycling, there by becoming extreamly wealthy& powerful!

  • @artart47 I have to agree that I smell a rat with regards to recycling regulations. I think you're right on businesses that get licensed and subsidized to handle e waste. I don't think there's legislation in the US to support the proper disposal or recycling of e waste. It's obvious what happens to wire, copper, heat sinks. fingers, steel cases, etc, but it's not all all clear what the end destination is for phosphors, circuit boards and most of their components, and CRT cullet. continued...

  • @artart47 Perhaps assistance should be given to lead smelters so they can recover the lead from the cullet. I've read that lead smelters use silca in the smelting of lead, and leaded cullet can provide the silica use for the process. In that process, the lead can be recovered from the silica. I don't know enough to give technical details. I'm sure a major issue is actually delivering the cullet to smelters, which may be too few and far between.

  • @artart47 What exactly happens to things like circuit boards, wire insulation, lead containing CRT glass, and the phosphors inside them?

I've never seen any way that circuit boards are recycled and there's no toxics to dispose of somewhere.

  • @aredditor first off, many of the computers we receive come from the scrap guys who roam our streets on garbage day! they give any computers,I give them back the steel cases that they can scrap.before our recent law those machines were hours from going to the landfill! I have a number of other sources. We take everything a part, steel ,aluminum, copper wiring, heat sinks ect go to scrap yard, we have three places who take some of the plastic.still working on that.if anyone has ideas? (next post)

  • why can't they send it to me?

  • Make them dump their garbage in their own country. Damn white people uuuUUUUUGGH >:-((

  • If Africa is such a dump why are all you damn white peole buying up land in my country. How is it that whites frequent Africa so much..GTFO you pail face bitches!! Haven't you given out enough HIV in your free shots!!

  • Everyone has to know the facts that it is the US that is dumping the E-waste into these developing countries. If we dont dump, we dont need greenpeace or watchdog go out taking videotapes showing people. Why dont we process everything inside the United States? And then we wont have these kinds of problems. Am I right?

  • well would you pay £15000 p.a. somebody to process something wowth a few pennies?

  • because unfortunately the illegal recycling also knonw as hidden flow is a big business and a well paid activity no matter the consecuences

  • why not recycle them ???? your burning them into the ground , why??

  • so thats were are desposing fee goes? everytime we buy electronics they charge use disposing fees.

  • LOL whats going on at 1:57 some sort of CRT prayer ritual?

  • rofl!

  • recycle please. this is despicable

  • recycling is not the answer. in fact if you do some research, you'll find that "recyclers" at least in the US are the one's who are exporting most of the e-waste. Their needs to be a change in legislation making it illegal to export waste, especially hazardous waste.

  • yeah and hair spray wrecks the atnmosopere

  • What? You mean gold? All microchips contain a small amount of gold and gold is poisonous. It's also naturally occurring. So what's the problem? Nigerians cut their toes? The solution isn't to stop making microchips you extremist ecoterrorist, it's recycling. Unfortunately, it costs more to recycle computers, televisions, etc. than the profit from resell value.

  • how come issues like this only occure in the uncivilised area...........its really ridiculous that this people are taking advantage of other country...if you ask why? they will turn the issue to poverty....is there no other way to dispose? if thos things are poisonous why have them....is it untill the world is infected with some kind of acidic diseas......seriously this issue really needs to be sorted out.

  • consumer greed for more better bigger, ego will poison us all !!!

  • I thought I almost all parts of a computer can be reused? why dump it

  • cause its still cheaper to dump it in the '3rd' world. We haven't yet set up the infrastructure to recycle all these parts cheaply.

  • well what about the precious metals in those machines. I mean there are gold in the computers! and the data on the hard drives, isn't that a security risk?

  • security risk: Yep . I saw a kid pulling hard drive from dumpsters. No wonder what they plan. Tons of info on them even after we think we deleted stuff. I assume it costs more to pull industrial gold back out of chips.

  • I hate my computer...its the enemy and Im against it...That would suck to be them but who is really to blame? every person who reads this...its all your fault!

  • I need to load a container soon

  • There is no change to keep our planet clean.

    The bill will comes.

  • I'm utterly disgusted. =(

  • This is Very Tragic From now on i Vow to Recycle my computer parts.

  • the difference is that the 'western world' or the 'europeans' or whatever you what to call it, shit on africa as per usual, and all other poor thrid world contires. like, these coutries are 'in-debt' to europe etc? becasue... ha europe stole their land and then charged them a fee (for the land, for 'development' etc etc) corruption in these places doesn't help either... africans selling countrymen/women into slavery... it's not that diff. today

  • some people are just sick man. what if some country just came over to america and dumped all their trash on manhatten island.

  • That is crazy,I wasn't even aware that this was going on.Its sad....I hope it stops....

  • send the e-waste to space where aliens would find it and come and trcak us down

  • The craziest thing is that these are once expensive digital devices, unattainable by many of these people, are now being destroyed and burned in their back yard, emitting harmful gases and metals into the air, soil, and water.

Tragic does not begin to describe this.

  • WTF is with people.

You know that old monitor you threw out

    LOOK WHAT ITS DOING

all because you needed that high tech piece

    BAD

IM happy with this PC here and i use all my parts till they die, then i recycle!

  • "You know that old monitor you threw out, all because you needed that high tech piece"

we have to. a good quality picture is good for eyes. old screens flicker and its not okay for anyones vision.

  • hey

im the kid who collects the old technology

I never threw out my old monitors, i recycle

And ontop of that I'd probably want to take back some of it.

    ;(

  • Very sad!!

For the normal consumer, think before you buy!

  • please return used products to country of origin. thank you.

  • Isn't this a big shame of the goverment. Any responsible goverment wouldn't sit and allow this to happen.

  • I agree, woudl be great if they could use them... well hope they do at some point soon.

  • If only those outdated computers were donated to the poor world while still useful.... Or at least, not useful, but give them to the technical school so they can practice and learn on them. U traveled a lot and i guess when u travel that much, you'r ideea about world is changing.
