  • Nice saw - terrible commercial. I'm thinking of taking it back and getting the kapex because of this super gay commercial. C'mon guys, just stick to the specifications of the tool and drop the rhetoric. "Step into the future" and study how Festool markets too me.

  • Is this saw better than the kapex ?

  • @ColdKilla45 Check out my video on this saw. As a matter of fact, my brother has the Kapex and they both are VERY good.

The big difference is the price, the MAKITA is at least 3 times cheaper than the FESTOOL Kapex.

Also, the MAKITA is more robust and has less moving parts, therefor is less versatile but just as precise and just more durable.

The dual laser on the Kapex is nice, so is the ruler that comes with it.

I would still by MAKITA, there is too much name

    in the price with FESTOOL.

  • @ColdKilla45 And one other thing that was important for me, the MAKITA is newer and the fences are A GREAT addition, that the Kapex does not quite have that way.

  • @ColdKilla45 YES!

  • This is a nice saw -- good power with a jerk-free and quiet start-up, sturdy yet lightweight, and a novel miter locking system that has the ability to remain out of detent positions, if that's the cut required. A few gigs: (1) The upper slider is very sticky / stiff, though I'm told it'll break in with use (but why is the lower slider not sticky?). (2) The laser, while actually useful and seemingly accurate, really needs a second projection so that it shows left and right cuts at the same time.
