  • Is that an Ibanez "Paul Stanley" guitar on the wall. Try that guitar.... How much is it????

  • @stratorlespaul,

I am not shure. I was testing the amp in a guitar store...

  • @teofaouaz

LOL I will keep my CS 69s

  • Guitar orgy going on on the walls..

  • @BHStar

It's a thing called "Guitar Center."

  • Yeah.. It's a shame they don't have this in EU ;)..

  • its single coils on the neck pickup

  • jesus, everytime I click on a vid of some guy playing a strat he starts with little wing. Its a great song, but do something different.

  • Well, the drummer was playing Little Wing, so I think he was just playing along...

  • The perfect strat sound! 2203 truly is one of the greatest amps ever made.

  • way too much gain dude. but other than that, nice playing.

  • Very nice sound. U are getting this gain just from the amp? Without a mastervolume? If so its VERYYYYYYYYYYY loud :D

  • The gain was set at 10 and the volume set VERY loud (6 or 8, I can't remember)). It was so loud that I could feel my chest shaking because of the sound pressure...

  • Thats very cool, not so good for your ears but yeah ;)

I know how AMAZINGLY loud these things are hahah. Atleast it makes the sound thicker, marshalls need to be played loud, especially jcm800's.

  • that could seriously damage ur ears. u should wear those cheap little earplugs with it

  • you own all those guitars?

  • how clean can the jcm800 get, i know its not the amps strong point but are the cleans somewhat decent?

  • They get ok clean. Like u said its decent. It was the clean that made me decide not to go with a Marshall for my Jazz band.

  • You can get clean tones from JCM800. However, it doesn't sound OK in my point of view. It gets too thin and bland. Unfortunatly, if you play both clean and overdriven, you'll need a second amp and an AB box. Sorry to disapoint you.

  • You can get nice cleans from a JCM 800. One way is to plug into the low input and crank the preamp. Another way is to plug into the high input and keep the preamp gain between 1-2. Also, turn down presence, treble, and mids and crank the bass. Depending on taste, adjust your guitar volume control too.

  • Nice job!

  • Are those the Kinman Woodstock regular set or Woodstock Plus set. Basiclly is the bridge pickup the HX-85 or AVn-69b.

  • Regular set. The bridge pickup is AVn-69b.

  • would anyone recommend putting a mk-II in the neck (so i can get a smoother, santana-like sound) and then the woodstocks in the middle and bridge (for a hendrix/frusciante-like leads)? i have yet to use kinman's but am on the brink of ordering them from everything i've heard.

  • IMO, if you want Jimi Hendrix sounds, you'd better buy MK2s. Woodstocks are muddier than Mk2s. On the other hand, using Woodstocks and K9 switch engaged (bridge and middle in series), you will get humbucker like sound, wich is closer to Santana sounds. However, if you really want Santana and Hendrix sounds, it is necessary to buy two different guitars...

  • ur gonna need a Fuzz face and single coils for a jimi hendrix lead.

  • wow nice sound and awesome playing!

  • i wanna hear the full song :( it sounded pretty great to me

  • Sorry... I just have recorded this 1 minute peace that day.

  • it sounds awesome

    I love strats

have you ever played a guitar with TV jones filtertrons or any of they're other humbuckers through one of these?

  • No. I played hot and vintage noiseless, gold Lace Sensors, SCN, EMG SA and several real single coils.

  • Ash or alder strat?

    Very good sound and play!!!!

    Bye

  • Alder. Thanks for the compliment.

  • You make me have faith in Fender Guitars.

  • Fenders Rock i love Fender

  • Straight or angled cab?

  • It was a Marshall 1960A 4x12" cabinet. "A" means angled. Very nice cab!

  • Have you ever heard of anyone buying crappy amps off of ebay. because I was thinking of getting an old jcm800. I cant really afford the reissue.

  • Buying on e-bay is a little bit risky, unless you are shure that the vendor is reliable. Another option is to buy it in a second hand store, so that you can try the amp before buying it.

  • Hey, i have this same amp...im also looking to buy an american standard strat, do you think it will sound thin or should i go with a les paul?

    Thanx

  • Buy both! Lol... Both Gibson and Strat sound great through a JCM 800. In fact, if you are looking for a fat sound, Gibson is better. However, for Hendrix era sounds, the Strat is killer. If you can afford it, buy both...

  • supergood

  • O ok thanx, and do you know what a JCM 800 MK II is? What does the MK II mean?

  • Wow!!! sweet vid...great song... man wheres a good place to look for a marshall jcm 800 2203 from like the early 80s?

    Thanx alot

  • The one I played in this video was brand new. That is a lead series. Sounds great. It is a little difficult to find an 80's amp in perfect condition. I think it is better to try them out on the store and buy. Buying second hand equipment on e-bay might be disapointing.

  • is that a reissue you played?

  • Yes. Lead series 2203 reissue. It sounds great.

  • Hey cool my guiar is there : D, is the cream color SG right above the amp hangin on the wall : D

  • Lol. I wish all those were mine...

  • is yours gibson or epi? cuz i love those sg customs

  • that is quite sweet!

  • you are a wonderful player.

if you wanna a lot of happy users, just upload the full virsion of little wing! :)

    and maybe more hendrix :P

  • Thank you for your comment. You were very kind. Unfortunatly, the battery of the camera dropped down before we finish the recording... It was a shame, but we could save that little sample. However, I will upload more Hendrix, SRV and others soon. Peace!

  • Amp settings? (bass,gain,...)

  • The only thing I can remember is that the gain was in the maximum setting and the volume half way... Very loud!

  • lol no he means KG from The Pick Of Destiny movie. It's a compliment.

  • Lol! Thanks for the explanation. I haven't seen the movie yet...

  • Is that KG? :D

  • Do you mean KG Strings?

  • É sim! Aí está o Ronaldo tocando bateria!

    Timbre bacana. Gosto do 800.

    Abraço

  • É sim. O Ronaldo realmente surpreende a gente. Além de excelente guitarrista, mandou muito bem na bateria.

  • Is this at a place called "Loja da Música" in the city of Artur Nogueira, São Paulo, Brazil?

  • Awesome playing and tone. I've been wondering, what does the neck pickup sound like clean in a fingerpicking/jazz/soft setting? I've been looking at new pickups for my strat and Kinmans are really interesting me.

  • Thank you! Single coil pickups tend to sound clean because of the low output. The neck pickup sounds bassy and holow, because the string amplitude is bigger near the neck. However I thing that the soupbar pickup (P90) is more indicated to play jazz, specially playing fingerpicking style. It has more output and are fatter than regular single coils. Mahogany body would be a perfert match to it.

  • yeah, i agree these pickups are like $495 australian and the factory is like an hour drive from my house, are these that much better then single coil pickups ive got a mexican strat should i replace them with these pickups.. what do you reckon of them, do they take away from the tone of a strat.

  • because i was talking to phillyred79 and i suggested using a mexican strat with a mesa/boogie express and he said "I don't think it will be too noisy.. With any single-coil you are going to get some humming, but the noiseless/lace sensor/SCNs seem to suck the tone out of the guitar- not a lot of treble response and backing off the volume on the guitar seems to lose the clarity all together.

  • I guess tone is subjective and a lot of people do like the lace sensors or the noiseless, but nothing beats a traditional strat-pickup. If the hum becomes too much of a problem just put a noise gate/suppressor pedal between you and the amp."

what do you recommend considering there is a lot of hum and hiss with my guitar and a nice tube amp?, with the fender hot rod deluxe the guy in the store said the hum is louder then the sound of the guitar (my guitar).

  • Definitely, Kinman's sounds far better than SCN, Lace Sensors, EMG SA or Vintage/Hot Noiseless pickups. If you want true Fender tone, dynamics and no noise, the best option is MK-II set. With K9 switch, you get 4 more pickup combinations and a set of capacitor and resistor installed in it to get rid of the muddy sound when you roll back the volume pot. I highly recommend you to by the K9 Switch and the MK-II set.

  • ok, it seems that everyone has a opinion although im not sure what i want to do..

I have a made in mexico guitar which is 2 weeks old, i could do 1 of 4 things.

    1. Sell the guitar, and buy a american deluxe with scn pickups which i like. (there better then the noiseless pickups) and i could buy it off ebay for cheap because the australian dollar is good against the us dollars so i can buy one of ebay for around $1700 australian

  • delivered or i could buy it for $2500 in a music store in aus... then if im not happy with it replace it with kinmans..

    2. buy a set of kinman pickups with k9 switch. (the only problem is i have never tried a guitar with kinmans in so i can only listen to videos or sound files and compare them to the deluxe) although you, my guitar teacher and the manager in my music store owns them.

    3. put scn pickups in my guitar..

    4. keep my guitar the way it is and use it the way it is..

  • although it makes sense to get a guitar with kinmans in them as they seem to be the choice of guitarists. although whats wrong with SCN pickups?

    what do you reckon?

  • p.s The reason why i want to change pickups is there pretty dull and most importantly they hiss/hum through the pa when i play live.. still trying to work out the problem probably the PA or the crap amp. And.. when you plug it in a amp with distortion turning it up loud they sound horrible unless there on pickups 2 and 4 and still they dont sound great.

  • I just picked up the phone and talked to steve kinman im going to go to the factory and try out my guitar with my amp vs his guitar with mk-2 pickups.. i couldnt beleive that i picked up the phone and talked to mr. kinman himself.. its awesome.. his going to give me a 15% discount with cash.

  • Go to kinmans WEB site

    My Products

    Strats

There is a link in the second paragraph after the picture of the gold plating pickup. It will lead you to a picture of a Strat with this pickup. Just beautiful!

  • The guitar will get a killer look if you order the pickups with gold plated magnets! Follow this link and see:

  • If you have enough money, the 5th option is Fender American DeLuxe guitar with Kinman MK-II pickup set.

  • SCN doesn't sound like vintage single coils because it doesn't have AlNiCo magnets. They are not very dynamic as well. Try and see...

  • yeah, i went to the kinman factory today, and im going to replace my pickups with kinmans.. they looked at my made in mexico guitar and said its a really good guitar there is really no need to replace it with a american.. i bought the traditional mk-2

  • I went to the kinman factory today, they are very helpful, i tried out the different pickups, and im ordering the traditional mk-2, because i want to be able to play really clean sound then go to distortion without the hum/hiss, i have a made in mexico guitar and they said dont bother about getting a american series guitar because the guitar you have is fine, they said its a good guitar.

  • the biggest difference between in these pickups are fender single coils are really bland.. the low strings in particular just sound really thuddy, and bassy, and hollow, the kinmans give life to your pickups and to me they sound like a strat.. actually they dont single coil strats dont sound good at all.. ill have a video with me comparing the pickups.. in a few days..

  • i thought the single coil pickups were good but these are way better worth every cent. tone tone tone people kinman has tone.. in fact i couldnt get out of my head how good these pickups were and i dont really want to play my guitar until i get my new pickups..

  • Good choice! I have two set of kinmans. Woodstock and MK-2. I prefer MK-2. Don't forget to install the K9 switch. It's worth!

PS.: I just mentioned the American Deluxe guitar because the finishing of the instrument is really gorgeous. The woods are better as well. However, Mexican Fenders are pretty decent guitars. The Japanese ones too.

  • just like kinmans does'nt sound vinatge to me. stacked single coil size to eleiminate the hum. but sounds like covered with blanket. check out other sounds here you'll see the difference in sound.

  • The amplifier is the 2203 reissue?

  • Yes. And the cabinet is a Marshall 1960A 4x12". All of them are reissues, but great sounding.

  • Hi teofaouaz, Adjust the guitar? The volume of the guitar pots were 10?

  • All guitar pots on 10, neck pickup selected.

  • Great job. Perfect tone. Straight into the amp, or are you using a boost pedal? If that's just your guitar into the amp, I want those pickups!

  • Guitar straight to amp! No effects, just the JCM800 cranked up very loud. Gain at 10 and volume at 6... The store was shaking!

  • great, this is my favorite Hendrix song. thanks for sharing

  • is this you in the music store?

  • Yes. The Strat is mine. I wanted to test the amp with my guitar.

  • okay, whos the dude playing the drums some guy in the music store, thats encouraging to buy the equipment isnt it.

  • Yes. The drummer is the owner of the store. Unfortunately I did not buy the amp. Just to big to play in my house...

  • This is good, Love that song, The drummer is On it too!!

  • Lol, is that a guitar center?

The 2203 is my favorite amp. Cool.

  • marshall best amp ever

  • i definitively prefer the tone of fender amplifiers

  • I'm thinking about getting a Marshall JCM 800 2203. I play music like Daphne Loves Derby's or The Fray. Do you think it's worth buying the Marshall? Check DLD out if you dont know them. myspace dot com / DaphneLovesDerby. Thanks, i really appreciate it. You did a great job with "Little Wing" by the way. You make that amp sound amazing. Oh and also, i dont understand what the "Tube" in the tube amp does.

  • totally worth it, the 2203 has sick tone, and power to boot, and if you need more, put an ibanez ts-9 pedal through it, tone heaven

  • How can you apologize for this playing? Sounds great to me - not quite as good as SRV's cover, but damn good!

  • Hi, liked the sound of your Kinmans and wondered if you had heard our blues Kinmans in the white Strat? Andre

  • I have just listened some of your songs. Very nice band. The tone of the white Strat is amazing. Specially on "All Along The Watchtower" solo. I love Hendrix!

  • what OD or distortion you using? might be too much distortion for Little Wing but neverthelesss still ballin tone

  • Guitar straight to amp. Just the JCM 800 2203 and the Fender. Pure tube overdrive...

  • Hi Teofaouaz. Thanks for your answer. Yes it is definitely a great match with the amp. Anyway, you shouldn't apologise for your playing. it was very smooth and loyal to the original. Best wishes

  • I agree, it captured the feel of the song really well. And it was nice to hear what the JCM800 sounded like playing that song.

  • I have to agree about the kinman's being great and are in fact single coils just without the noise I have the blues in all three positions on my strat and love them to death. All that creamy responsive dynamic tone without that buzz

  • Hi Teofaouaz. Can you remember what kind of Marshall Kabinet you used? It sounds really great combined with the 2203.

    Kind regards

  • It was a Marshall 1960A 4x12" cabinet. It is a perfect match to the 2203 amp. That is a really big sound. It rocks!

  • i have a set of hank marvins in one strat and a 59/59/SCn setup in another, but this clip has me rethinking if i should pull the woodstocks from my black strat. haha. very nice tone.

  • if that's your house, i hope you have brinks, cuz im robbing you

  • Nice sound! I got a set of Fender Custom Shop '69 pickups in my late 80's Fender American Standard Stratocaster. The Fender CS'69's have a great sound to them, but the problem with them is the infamous 60 cycle hum. But sooner or later, and now after hearing that clip, I will want to switch to the Kinman Woodstock pickups.

  • Just one piece of advice. If you like the sound of your guitar, please do not change the pickups. Anyway, if you want no noise and a realistic single coil sound, than go to Kinmans. Here is the tip: The woodstock set sounds good, but VERY overwound. If you like more vintage sounding pickups, please chose MK2s. Both choises are good. I love the sound of Woodstock set.

  • i will put my money on real single coils. not humbucking coils that sounds single coil.

  • I have the Kinman MK2s on my strat. And I looooovvvveee them!

  • ok, without the noise, still doesnt sound like single coils to me. and they are PRICEY i must say.. PEACE

  • My dear friend. I have tried most noiseless pickups available in the market. Hot Noiseless, Vintage Noiseless and Kent Armstrong's don't have good dynamics. SCNs are bland. Lace sensors don't sound like single coils. Than I tried Kinman's. I used to be a single coil snob before trying them. They really sound like single coils and have all the dynamics you need without hum! I recorded this clip playing a JCM 800 with high gain just to show that the pickups are hum free. Peace!

  • hi, im not into noiseless pu's, im talking about the real single coils with 60cycle hum. i dont know why a lot of folks had problem with the hum. mine is quite after shielding the pickguard and awesome! i like the gfs/van zandths/fralin cs54s,69,57/62=)

  • are ALL of those yours?

  • love the tone, nice one!!!

  • Thanks. Although I don't recommend playing "Little Wing" with high gain, the JCM 800 retains clarity. It is an alternative option for those who are looking for a different tone. My personal amp is a Fender Blues Deville that covers Hendrix and SRV tones. However, I like the JCM 800 tone. It's very fun playing a Strat with lots of gain and no hum.

  • yeah, i'm a fender blues deluxe man, the deville is just too big!!!

  • This is insane. Awesome job on guitar and DRUMS! areyou guys in a store or is that your collection??

  • The drummer is the owner of the music store. I went there with my guitar because I wanted to try the JCM 800 2203 with my baby. Now I'm saving money to buy one...

  • wanna buy my 2204?

  • Thank you for the offer, buddy. However I live in Brazil. Complicated, isn't it?
