Well in the Virtual Console there is a source in the Wii Shop Channel saying that it is Little Mac..

When I was growing up with this game I called him "Medium Mac" and at the time thought it was pretty clever.

Super Punch Out's main character was named whatever you named him. He didn't have a default name. Little Mac was the name of the main character in Punch Out on the NES.

This is super punch out for the Super Nintendo 16 bit system ... game play is pretty much a take from Tyson's punch out .... really fun game and very well made...
