Thx for the tips. I was trying to retrieve a lot of line after it took off and the boat chashed it. This was the first fish of the day and keeping rod tip up and when to reel I was all over the place. But trust me I know what to do and put a hurtin on many of these. Can't wait to fish with Capt. John again!
just for a future reference for your best fishing chances, while fighting the fish DO NOT reel in while the fish is running out, that opposite motion will most likely put too much pressure on the fish and it'll bust lose...Tight lines and congrats on the fish

keep the rod tip pointed up as well.
And as mentioned below, reeling while the fish is pulling the drag can also cause bad line twist.
